I want to commend Borden's driver, Adrian. Last week, after a heavy snowfall, I fell by my mailbox and couldn't get to my car to get myself up. Absolutely terrible customer service. We cancelled our service because we located a better company with lower pricing who actually takes yard waste without additional fees. They mandated they were going to charge us $50 for bin pick up. Or, if we wanted to bring it to them, they would waive the $50. So much for putting customers first. Waste management and other companies offer much better service at a much better price with excellent customer service. Had we known about all the additional fees for EVERYTHING we would not even had signed up with this company. read more

So I don't like to bash people!! So I will be as gentle as I can. Our payment comes out of our account perfectly on time every time! The service is sketchy at best , when they send you an email almost every week saying that they are running behind and won't be able to pick up on schedule, there is a problem, but you won't see a reduction in your bill or any form of accountability! So I have called them and talked to a person ( not a bot) 3 times to cancel the recycling can and get them to pick it up!! This person had assured me that it was scheduled to be picked up this Friday the 26th! That did not happen!! No storms , no email apologies, and no promises kept. I am canceling their lack of service!! My neighbor pays about the same price for Kiddos and they show up every Monday like clockwork!!! read more

Their customer service is terrible. When it is inconvenient for them, they miss pick ups with no credit for the missed service. When you call to talk to someone, you get a voicemail and they never call you back. When I finally did get someone on the phone I was so frustrated I ended up cancelling the service and they charged me a fee to pick up the can. They used to be fantastic, but no longer. Anyone looking for trash service do not use Borden. Customer service is awful. We are moving and canceled our service, and needed a week extension because sometimes there's hiccups in moving and we needed the service for an extra week. They told us we'd be charged for an extra month and we said that's fine, we need the extra week of trash pick up. They never extended us and told us if we needed trash service we'd have to restart and it's a 50 dollar fee to drop a can off and another 50 to pick it up. We ended up moving with our trash for the week. A month later we got a bill for the extra month and 50 dollars for the trash can they picked up a week early after they told us we were granfathered in and didn't need to pay that fee. When we called to resolve the issue the manager lied and insisted that the two people who assured us we wouldn't have to pay that never said that. Worst trash company in the area. They pick up recycling every 2 weeks. My recycling is full and they missed my address. They just passed my house as I pulled into the drive way. Immediately called customer service and tried to flag down the driver not once but twice, she didn't stop. My recycling was all over the road and in my yard, it's that full. Customer service didn't answer and responded the following day. After my second failed attempt at flagging down the driver, I called customer service again. I asked that the driver turn around to pick up my can and customer service advised the driver left an hour ago.....I literally tried flagging her down 10 minutes ago. They told me they aren't turning around. Customer service called me again and reiterated the same thing. So am I going to get refunded since yall don't wanna pick up my recycling or....what? The service is declining rapidly. Borden made some changes, resulting in auto bill pay not being automatic, even though I had messages stating I was enrolled. My recycling was missed this week, after a VERY long wait on the phone, I was told to leave the cart out and it would be picked up. 3 days later, another call to Borden which now has a recording to let you know if you were missed, it will be picked up in 2 weeks. Oh, any additional recycling added will not incur an additional charge! Are you kidding me??? My cart is full, what am I supposed to do with the items for recycling? My family has more recycling than trash! Customer service is ridiculously difficult to reach. Email messages are not any better. I am not a happy customer (well over 10 years with this company). When we lived in town we never had an issue they always came every other week. Now that we have moved out of South bend into Niles It's a totally different issue. We have been at our home here in Niles a little over a year and they have put us off on recycling pickup at least five times within a year. Finally we got fed up and decided to cancel our recycle service because it just started to become too much of a hassle carrying the cans out to the road and then not having them show up and then having an accumulation of over a month's worth of recycling in our garage. Now that we've canceled the recycle service they told us they would be out to pick up their can that is full of recycling on Wednesday the 4th and we are still waiting. Now they are not answering calls and we are getting generic emails like robotic type saying they will get back to us and yet we are still waiting after multiple phone calls and multiple emails for a response Just to let us know when they might grace us with their presence and pick up their container full of their recycling. Now we are considering changing services all together to another trash pickup service also. Customer service is seriously lacking for this company. If I would have known and looked at the reviews before we started the service we never would have started with this company. Check reviews before you start anything people. read more

This company doesn't show like they care about their customers. For a 3 rd time, the truck drove right by and didn't get our trash. We have this on video. After spending two hours on hold, awaiting our turn to talk, they said someone will be out that day to get it and that the man wrote he picked our trash up. It has been a week. They never returned. We sent an email days ago, still no response. We are on hold again, going on 30 minutes and are currently number 7 now. Let me not forget to menty the messages left that say they will call u back instead of waiting. Never calling me back. I feel like the customer service is awful and they obviously are short on staff. they raised their prices. its now 23 dollars a month. they have been charging a fuel and supplies charge for years now on top of their service fee which I'm sorry but that should be cost of doing business DUH!!! and now if you dont pay your bill right away you get a finance charge added to your bill. i didnt finance anything with them so why am i being charged a finance charge? i wonder how legal that actually is. lots of companies have been busted for this same hidden fees. read more

Lazy drivers. Start driving away before they even put cans back down cans are always left tipped over and laying in the middle of our driveway so we can't get in. Or cans are laying the street. I have used Borden for a number of years now. I can't complain about the service. Usually I take out the trash the night before pickup. One time the trash was out and I heard a truck I thought was Borden. Anyway, I went outside brought back the bin. I did not look inside because it felt so light. Later I was outside and saw the Borden truck go by. That prompted me to look inside the bin. It still had my trash in it. My fault LOL Well, the guy stopped a bit down the road and sat. I thought, oh well, if I take it back out he might come back by this way. To my surprise he backed up and dumped the bin. I was not able to tell him what had happened but it was kind of funny. Some time before that for some reason our trash was not picked up and I had told them about it so it would be for sure the next time. I think that is why the guy waited, but thanks either way. One of the guys will go out of his way to help and never had any issues. People at their office are friendly and mostly helpful. Thanks Borden! read more

This company took over services in Laporte County. They sent out this stupid calendar when services are to be completed, not very helpful. My recycling has been sitting out by the curb for 8 weeks and still has not been picked up and is over flowing. I called and asked when they were going to pick it up and they said that service ran on the January 22nd and it was blocked. Also said there was service the 5th and it was not out. It's been sitting in the same spot for 8 weeks. My trash was sitting out by the curb for 4 weeks and today I watched them drive right by my house. One of the guys got out of the truck to pick up someone else's trash and drove on. I went outside to see why my trash wasn't taken and waited for them to get the other side of the street. I put my hands up in the air, The passenger rolled down his window and said that it was already dumped. I told them that it wasn't and opened the lid to show them. They turned around and got the garbage. I do realize that we had 35 inches of snow and getting service was difficult, but that was only for 1 week. Wow, watched one of their drivers almost hit a car head on going the wrong way around a round about. You heard that right the wrong way around a round about, what would be the excuse for that one to the cops? Driver of truck didn't even slow down at all, no attempt to brake. I have no idea what they were thinking at five something in the morning. Person followed truck to next stop but have no idea what happen after that. I don't normally write reviews, but today will be an exception. When an employee goes above and beyond I feel they need to be recognized for their service. We put a lot of recycling waste out every time Borden picks up. I would normally be at work and it is just gone when I get home. I have since retired and got to witness first hand the process. We had put out a full bin, plus two large boxes of moving paper (rolls and rolls of moving paper) and several large bundles of of moving boxes. It seemed like our service person was having some trouble with the truck crushing everything. I know he had to get out a couple of times. I felt bad because he hadn't even gotten to our house yet. When he did come he got everything we had put out. Not an easy thing though. It was obvious that we had not bundled it correctly because it fell apart and he had to get out and pick it all up. We will try to do our part better next time by preparing it better. What I really want everyone to know is that on this hot muggy day, TONY went above and beyond and we appreciate him so much for providing such great service! If I could give this company ZERO stars I would. For several years they have been the recycling company for my area and they are HORRIBLE! Every time they come, bottles, cans, newspapers, cardboard, etc. are strewn all over the street and into our driveway. If it is windy, it blows into the yards, woods, & landscaping causing us to go on a scavenger hunt to find it all. Today was the worst! Multiple plastic bottles, cardboard, cans, etc. were left all over the area. The driver never gets his fanny out of the truck and consequently, if anything falls out when he uses the automatic lift, he doesn't pick it up, but instead drives merrily off. I have called them more than once to complain, and all they do is offer to have him return (like I'm going to leave the debris strewn all over until THAT happens!). No one else on my entire street recycles anymore because of this problem. I was the last hold out. Well no more. I have scheduled a pick up of the bin. And I would NEVER hire them for trash pick up. They truly do not care about doing a proper job. Lazy and disgraceful! read more
