We have a hamster, who is starting to approach her later years. Her eyes are a little smaller, she can't climb stairs like the ninja of last year. Over December of last year she inadvertently set of a burglar alarm and had the police scaling my brother's house thinking there was an intruder when really, there was just lil old Pelton, rather terrified by it all. She started to lose her fur not long after that and it became time to visit the vets, to have her checked out. Luckily, Vets4Pets has a vet familiar with small rodents (didn't even think I would have had to ask that but happy days that there was one there) who, apart from calling our beloved P. cute but fat, gave us a no nonsense diagnosis and a reminder that hamsters are not long for this world. Happily, some of the more worrying possibilities do not appear to have borne out, and we still have Pelton, a little more doddery. At £25 a visit, I am not sure whether that is a competitive price or not compared to other vets, but we felt absolutely comfortable with the vet we see there.

Such a tiny little soldier, we picked him from his home filled with so many other hamsters. A nice member of stuff took as around the store pointing out things we needed. Who knew a hamster needed so much crap? Clearly it's all a big sales pitch, because if you don't go along with it and buy everything she tells you to then you look like a cruel potential pet owner. The store is pretty big selling just about anything you need for your pet and more. It gets a little extreme in some cases, like how many different types of dog biscuits can it be? I like to look at the animals (rabbits, hamsters, mice and guinea pigs). There is a special section at the back for the eh... special animals which you can ''adopt''. I have never quite understood why they need their own section but I always feel sorry for them.

A place that really cares for its animals this donkey sancutary takes in donkeys from all over the…read moreplace from donkey that had been abused that were going to go to the butchers to ones that had there donkey friend die and were lonely. The donkeys are well cared for in several fields. You can go visit on a saturday and sunday at 2 when you get a walk around the sanctuary to see all the donkeys who come up for there feed. You get to feed them there carrots from specials bowl (to protect your fingers) and stroke the donkeys. The land where the donkeys are kept is 80 acres and they all have shelter. There are about 30 donkleys but they keep getting more. They have also got a couple of horses now and some pigs. This is one of my favourite things to do at the weekend. The women that runs the place is dedicated to the animals and the volunteers that take you around are really nice. There is no cost though they do have a donation bucket. There is a great shop filled with everything donkey from toys, bags pens magnets cards to pottery youcan sponser the donkeys fr £18 which gets you a certifacte and newsletters and you can add a framed photo of your donkey.
