From the initial phone call for scheduling to the check in and MRI tech, everyone was kind, pleasant, and truly helpful. The building is handicap accessible and has a nice waiting room (although, as with every waiting room, I wish the tv was quieter). Best of all: an OPEN MRI is available! FINALLY!!!! When I arrived, I was the only patient there, yet everything still felt extremely disorganized and slow. What stood out the most was how confusing the check-in process was. The front desk staff asked me to spell very simple words (like "circle"), and there seemed to be a lot of confusion over basic information. It made the whole interaction feel awkward and unprofessional, and it actually heightened my anxiety to the point where I started stuttering while trying to answer questions. When I was finally seen, the experience didn't improve much. The nurse practitioner seemed genuinely confused about my medication allergies. Even after I clearly explained my reactions and history, she still appeared unsure and kind of just blanked out instead of addressing it confidently. That was honestly the most concerning part, because I didn't feel safe or reassured discussing my health. Overall, the experience felt disorganized, uncomfortable, and lacking in clear communication. I understand that mistakes happen, but in a healthcare setting, especially when discussing allergies and medical history, there needs to be more confidence, clarity, and professionalism. I have found Dr. Todd L. Ream, MD, to be an outstanding orthopedic surgeon. After suffering with…read moreprogressively worse knee pain, I did exhaustive online research and called his office. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was able to schedule an appointment. After reviewing the diagnostic tests, examining my knee, reviewing my medical history, and interviewing me, Dr. Ream announced that I was a good candidate for partial instead of complete knee replacement. He explained that I had the choice of either and explained the benefits and disadvantages of each. I elected the partial knee procedure and Dr. Ream performed the surgery nearly a year ago. He and his staff thoroughly prepared me for the procedure, took appropriate precautions due to my existing heart conditions, explained well what I should expect after the surgery, and provided me with instructions for self-administered physical therapy. Dr. Ream is personable, competent, and willing to invest whatever time is necessary to answer any questions. His staff reflects the same characteristics. Almost a year after my surgery, I am pain-free, have full range of motion, and could not be more satisfied. For those persons in Southwest Michigan needing an outstanding orthopedic surgeon, I highly recommend Dr. Todd Ream.

I needed an MRI and Bronson MRI was backed up two months (!!); my doctor suggested Beacon's MRI…read moreservices at the Beacon Brain and Spine Institute, located around the back of the former Borgess Hospital on Gull Road. You'll know it from the amazing glass building! The signs on the road urge you to continue east but turn into the parking lot before the sign (the next lot seems to be staff parking). First, the handicap parking spots are AMAZING. There is plenty of room and absolutely no barriers. In my experience, this is the best handicap parking in town. There's a short walk to the front entrance, and there's a feature that is MORE than welcome to people with disabilities: all doors have sensor cameras and open before you are upon them. I call them the magic doors, lol. I appreciate not having to find and push a button, or open a heavy door. The MRI office is located to the left of the entrance, and the waiting room is pleasant (why are tvs so ubiquitous in hospital settings? NO ONE wants to watch tv while waiting. We all have phones or bring books). The front desk staff person was hilarious and super friendly. Without much wait, I was taken back to a very small room with two lockable lockers, a chair, and a bin for worn scrubs. I changed out of my jeans (metal), but kept on my socks, winter boots, and shirt. I was surprised not to be asked to change fully into scrubs and hospital socks with treads, which has been 100% the case in all my previous MRIs. The hallways are SO FUN! It felt like I was on a spaceship, and I fully expected R2-D2 to scoot around the corner, beeping a welcome to me. The MRI was a not-far walk. The MRI tech was kind and pleasant. He sourced a metal-free mask for me. Soon enough, I was on my merry way.

She's so kind and to have someone fully listen to my concerns is a breath of fresh air. I truly feel she has my back and is willing to run the distance for me to make sure I'm as healthy as possible. The location couldn't be any better as well! I'm actually excited to start my health journey for a change. :) Front Desk clerks were very kind and informative. The nurse was gracious and caring. This is definitely the place to go!
