Seems like a place best suited for kids. There's a large Farris wheel and an arcade and restaurants that are not great but serve food. There's the oceanarium and right now a pop up about the historic Air Force. There just isn't a ton for adults to enjoy unless you venture further away from the pier and into Bournemouth. read more

The original pier was built for £12,000 in 10 months, opening in July 1889. 600 feet long, it could take steamers, and had a bandstand. In 1904 it was taken into Council hands. The Council built a new pierhead building, and removed the bandstand to a local park. In 1940, during WW2, the pier was stripped, and three spans were blown up to prevent use for enemy landings. After a long battle with the Government for compensation, the Council refurbished the pier between 1958 and 1962, with a new pierhead building, and the Mermaid hall and cafe on the end - both designed by the Council architect, John Burton. The end was closed on safety grounds in 1990, and the rest closed in 2005 for similar reasons. Using the proceeds of the sale of a nearby car park to Barratts for housebuilding, the Council refurbished - and shortened - the pier as part of a multi million pound regeneration of Boscombe seafront. It reopened in 2008, and was declared 'Pier of the year' in 2010. At the pierhead, there is a cafe, and a shop selling cigarettes, newspapers and - as the sign quaintly says - "beach requisites". Art is displayed and sold on the pier on Sundays. Permits are available for fishermen. Events are held regularly (brass bands, carol singing, etc). Great beach, one of the best on the South Coast (if not the best). Always enjoy it here, even nice to walk along on a not so nice day, if you don't mind that. They have recently developed the Boscombe side of the beach and it is so much better than before. I prefer the walk from Bournemouth pier to Sandbanks. Great beach. read more

Bournemouth Pier is a lovely focal point to a very nice beachfront. It costs £1.10 for adults to walk along the pier (less for children/concessions but I can't remember the exact price) and you get a guide book along with that. The pier has nice benches to sit on and look out over the beach along the length of it. At the end of the pier there is an indoor climbing area, a restaurant and a small funfair. There's also a ride where you can zip line from the pier back to the beach but unfortunately it was shut the day I visited! :( You can also access the lower pier to do some fishing, if that's your thing! There are nice posters up along the length of the pier detailing the beach clean up campaign with pictures and photographs taken by local children. read more

Whilst you cant fault how clean the beach is and the nice soft sand. Facilities that do not damage your money pocket are unheard off. Everything costs down at the seaside. The have kids rides as well as a simulator and bungee trapolines, and a climbing wall but again this all costs.. Food is pretty standard seaside fair, therer is 2 restaurants nearby as well as a very famous chip take away and restaurant. Also a pub and indoor play area for kids, which is handy when Bournemouth rain comes to say hello.. read more

As Piers go this one was adequate if not somewhat tiresome. As we came close to the edge of the pier, many disgruntled individuals claiming to protest the overuse of brioche buns in burger restaurants, ran onto the pier and soon became overcrowded. The foundations began to collapse and the boards below my wife began to give way. I grabbed her arm and in an instant used my other arm to catch who I then realised to be my long lost identical twins brother. My wife pleaded me to help her but I only had the strength to pull one person up to safety. On one hand I love my wife, the mother of our child, but on the other hand I can't believe I have a twin brother I never knew about. We walked from Christchurch to Sandbanks - it was mid-week, so no weekend crowd. It's a really lovely walk, more so at the Boscombe Promenade end & Sandbanks beach end. The pier is minimalistic and perfect for those days when you need to pop to the seaside to blow the cobwebs away! Although it doesn't have the amusements and entertainments that many other piers have, it is relaxing and peaceful if you want a calming, mindful stroll. It costs only £1.10 for adults to enter the pier and even less for children, so it's the perfect place if you want to take a picnic and sit on the benches that run the whole length of the pier. I'm probably biased as I live here, but I love Bournemouth beach! It's so much nicer than all the other UK beaches that I've ever visited and has long been the proud owner of a green flag for quality. Gets unsurprisedly packed in Summer (especially for the air festival), but lovely for a walk along the promenade all year round. A few restaurants available, as well as some tourist attractions (Oceanarium, Arcade etc.) and loads of beach huts - some of which can be rented from the council in Summer. A safe and closely monitored roped off lifeguarded area has been developed in the last few years and it's made the beach look more like 'Baywatch'! Adjacent are the lovely gardens and main shopping precinct so loads of facilities nearby. read more

Life's A Beach! At least it was when I was a student, granted the weathers not often beach worthy but that shouldn't stop you. When the sun is shining there's no better place to chill out, throw frisbees and go for a quick dip. When you're three sheets to the wind and feeling crazy there's nowhere better for a midnight paddle. And when it's you're birthday and the weath alright it's a great location for a chilled out bbq so long as you're two groynes away from the pier and can handle sand-dogs. read more

This very pretty art deco arcade is worth a visit. It houses a large branch of Waterstones, a very good gift shop (sorry I can't remember it's name) which has local pictures etc at reasonable prices. This arcade also has a branch of Essential which is a jewellery and accessory shop where you will be able to find the jewels to match any outfit. Essentials charges between £5 and £100 for each piece but the range is amazing and useful when you need something particualr for a special occasion. read more

Bournmouth beach is extreamly beautiful and we can get a great view from the hot air ballon. This place is highly crowded in summerwe stayed for a day by hiring a hut near a beachit was lovely experience people who visit bouremouth don't miss to go to swanage read more
