We couldn't be happier with our choice of Bosque School. As a parent, I toured Sandia Prep and Albuquerque Academy as well, but Bosque stood out for several reasons that continue to prove themselves year after year. What makes Bosque different is the community. The small class sizes mean my child isn't just a number -- every teacher truly knows them, checks in regularly, and encourages them to take healthy risks. At Academy, we felt the culture was much more high-pressure and competitive, and at Sandia Prep the environment was good but not quite as personal as Bosque. The academics at Bosque are rigorous, but not overwhelming. My child is challenged, supported, and actually enjoys learning. The senior thesis and independent projects prepare students for college in ways that go beyond test scores. At Academy there are more AP courses, but the trade-off seemed to be higher stress and less balance. Another unique strength is how Bosque uses its location in the bosque (river forest) for science, service learning, and hands-on projects. That connection to nature, plus strong arts programs, has given my children experiences they wouldn't have had elsewhere. Bosque School will soon be celebrating 25 years! We became part of the Bosque Family the summer before my son entered 5th grade. His summer camp experience laid out plans of being a future Bosque Student. As my son completes these last couple of months of 9th grade, we still feel this was by far the best fit! Bosque School has so many great opportunities and life learning for a student. The teachers are top notch and their passion for what they teach is contagious. The school has many opportunities depending on the needs of the student. BEMP, Robotics, Athletics, Clubs, Performing Arts, Strings, Band, Winterum, and much more. The school sits in the heart of the Bosque, where some off site learning takes place. Classroom sizes are small and allow for hands on learning. Students are issued chromebooks for use with google docs, calendars and homework. My son is a prime example of the learning you receive at Bosque school. The education, the friendships and the life experiences are forever. I find as a Bosque Parent, there is plenty of opportunities to stay involved and volunteer. We're recipients, and with their help we're able to provide our daughter with a world class education, something we honestly doubted could ever happen. Amazing school very supportive community! The people and teachers are great. Very inclusive.

We are so happy to be part of the Bosque School community. From the start, we have felt an unprecedented welcome, warmth, and support from the Bosque School staffulty (staff/faculty) and fellow families. We were unsure we would be able to attend the Bosque School due to financial concerns, but there are options available to meet many levels of need, and the admission process is straightforward, highly structured, thoroughly explained, and more than adequately supported through school outreach via email, phone, website, Zoom, and (pre-COVID) in-person meets. The staffulty is extremely accessible, friendly, and knowledgeable. Our academic experience here has been similarly fluid, changing to meet the requirements of the environment at large, as well as our family's specific needs. We entered as a new family in 2020, and the academic year started in a remote model due to COVID-19 restrictions/concerns. The school has since moved to a hybrid model, and so my son has been able to explore the campus and meet his teachers and fellow students face-to-(masked)-face. Throughout these changes, the Bosque School has impressed, maintaining rigorous academic expectations while remaining open and responsive to individual student and family needs. Disappointed in their actions. They talk a lot of talk like any school trying to recruit your child but they didn't do any followup, answer questions, or return calls. They made unapologetic excuses, sadly. In the end, they weren't professional and my decision was based on this. read more

Major behavioral problems in the middle school because of systemic racism by two teachers, enabled by admin. Teachers work racist themes into their curricula such as "what white people do," etc, which leads to a reaction formation in white, straight, and particularly male students. As an inevitable result, in the last couple months they've had, among other things, children asked not to return because of using the n-word, and an incident in which a giant phallus was drawn on the mirror in the girls' bathroom and a used tampon was stuck to the wall. Administration unable to understand that behavioral problems like this begin with leadership. As with any problem, racism begins at the top of this middle school with an administration that enables the racism through fake "investigations" where they 1) go to the teacher being racist and ask them if they did it, 2) believe the teacher when they say no, 3) stand aside while the teacher retaliates by lowering the child's grades retroactively, 4) shield them from parent reaction to the teacher's abuse so the teacher can continue to be abusive in class without feeling uncomfortable in any way. read more

I personally didn't go here, but I work with BEMP at UNM and we interact with the classes and teachers regularly as they have the bosque behind the school. If you or your child wants to go to college, I'd suggest to look into this school as an option. The teachers are better and happier than in any school at APS and there's less students per teacher so they'll get more out of learning. They also interact a lot with the bosque environment. In conclusion, if I could go back to and pick a different school than what I went to, I'd definitely want to go here. read more

Homeschool to Bosque School has been an amazing transition! After homeschooling our son from grades 1 through 7, our son was ready to attend a brick and mortar school for 8th grade. After researching charter and private schools in Albuquerque, we decided Bosque School would be the best fit, and it has turned out to be a perfect fit. The teachers are invested and innovative, the coursework is engaging and interesting, the campus is beautiful, and most of all the community is welcoming, nurturing, friendly and supportive. Our son is loving Bosque School and all it has to offer. From science labs and jazz band to PE and art, he is having fun, learning and being challenged academically everyday. One thing we really love about Bosque School is that our son can be himself. He can be his science-y, musical, confident, social self and is completely accepted and included. Bosque School has absolutely been the right choice for us. Everything from the admissions process forward has been pleasant and professional. The Staffulty at Bosque School is genuinely invested in the education and well-being of the students and their families. It is a school with a lot of heart and I'm glad we are a part of the Bobcat family. read more

My son began attending Bosque School in 6th grade. He's now half way through 7th grade, and we absolutely love it! They have been amazing in creating a community around education, variety, integrity and real life experience. The hands on learning in the Bosque they do for science is amazing. They include community service, which is important in teaching empathy and gratitude. The teachers and administration are available at all times and incredibly helpful.
