I took him to the ER Sunday at 6pm was in surgery Monday morning to start treatment. Dr. Plzak was able to break the stones apart without incident. His office girl Sharika went over and beyond the call of duty to make sure she got pre-authorizations as we are here out of state. My husband and I met with Dr. Plazak and were extremely impressed with his manner and credentials. He took the time to answer all our questions and recommended a minor surgery that none of the other urologists I have consulted over the years ever even mentioned as an option. My questions were not answered, and I was told others were ahead of me and they didn't "know when we will get to you." Today is over a week later, and I still haven't heard back directly. I decided to write this review after I just learned they contacted MUSC, not me, to deny me because I'm out of network. This took them A WEEK, wasting valuable time. Clearly, my life seems to have no value to them. This is unacceptable patient care and unprofessional. I can afford to pay out of pocket, but I will absolutely not give them money if this is how they treat people who need immediate care. I would advise others to avoid them as well. Cost doesn't matter when a doctor and staff show compassion and professionalism, and truly value your health and life.

We checked in at the front desk and the receptionist made us wait 45 minutes…read morewith a screaming one-year-old before finally telling us they needed a clearer picture of our insurance card. During this entire time, they hadn't even bothered to check us in. After another 15 minutes, they came back and asked us to finish filling out paperwork that should have been handled right away. In total, we sat in the waiting room for over an hour before the check-in process was even complete--not before being seen by a provider, just to be officially checked in. The level of incompetence and lack of urgency from the front desk staff was unbelievable. They were unorganized, dismissive, and completely unprofessional, showing no consideration for a sick child or for patients' time. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place altogether and going to the other urgent care on the island, where you'll likely find staff who at least know how to do their jobs.
