Then they moved up to the gym at MassArt - Sold. It. Out. and STILL had a huuuuuge line around the block. That was freakin awesome. I am still sad that "Bone Saw" cut her derby career short. She was kickass. (She just quit. Nothing tragic happened. That I know of.) The Nutcrackers are my girls (with a special place in my heart for a select few from the Cosmonaughties - Easy Bake Shovin' and Violet Rage). But my main girl has got to be Malicen Thunderland. Girl skates with HEART! You are guaranteed an awesome time at these bouts. Go! Support this local sports juggernaut while you can still afford their tickets! Player-owned and operated! These are no princesses and prima donnas. They get down and dirty. They're not afraid to fall on their asses. The bands are sometimes fun, too. And they have good raffles. I spend over two hours of my day there, every week and this rink is pretty good overall. Let's start with the facilities: my only complaint is that the locker rooms aren't all that warm and a bit small but they are clean and don't smell which is a big plus and unlike a lot of other rinks I've been to. The ice itself is pretty well maintained and doesn't suffer from too many bad spots. There's no bumps or softer spots either. The lighting is good and even and the boards are stiff and netted all around which keeps the pucks inside. The overall temperature inside is much lower than in most rinks making for a more solid sheet of ice. However it will also cause spectators to freeze to death... A tradeoff that I actually think is awesome because I'd rather skate on better ice than see my buddies watch me skate from the stands... All in all the place is pretty good, with easy parking, a clean, solid sheet of ice and decent facilities. What more could one really need? A vending machine maybe? They have three.

If you are a fairly casual table tennis player with no interest in becoming more competitive, I can't really recommend BTTC, as the average player there is very strong, and when there are people waiting to play you need to play a match, and only the winner stays on the table. I usually lose, but I still love the place as I am close enough to the lower skill level players to have good matches and improve as a player. The people are generally very nice too, making the space a more enjoyable one. If you don't have a decent racket or need one repaired (or need any other equipment), one of the people at the club sells such items and will repair or set up a new racket for players (fair costs too).

The parking outside is spacious which is pretty awesome - it's in fact a lot better than the rink in Everett in those terms. And that is also the case for the locker rooms which are also pretty big. That aside, the ice was in pretty good condition and not as soft as in other rinks, mostly because of the fact that the rink itself is kept at a colder temperature. The lighting of the ice is decent but the benches are a bit too short in length. Some of us had to stand up during the game... All in all this is a pretty solid ice skating rink though. Tufts a no gotta their own rink on campus since they didn't have varsity hockey until a few years back. Good trivia (trivierrr) in case you're ever in town. It's small, not a lot of seats, but it's cozy. And you can see just fine, and they don't mind if you stand up right next to the boards so that's cool to get the close up especially when there's a big hit right in front of you. Plenty of locals in the stands (who knew there were so many Norwich hockey alums in the area?) and lotsa "Hey Laaahrrry, how's the wife?" type of talk. Always amusing to hear. Jack had never been to a hockey game so it was pretty fun for him. However, I think he had just as much fun playing the racecar video game in the lobby. Actually I did too!
