Botanic Gardens Cafe is a cafe located at the Royal Botanic Gardens. It occupies the lower level of the same building that the Botanic Gardens Restaurant is located in. Though it has been a few months since I visited, I recall that the cafe was located near the Oriental Garden part of the botanical gardens. And the surrounding area of the cafe is filled with greenery. The cafe is pretty casual. There is some seating inside the cafe as well as a few tables outside the cafe if you prefer to take in the beauty of the gardens. Or you could take your food and drink to go and enjoy a picnic elsewhere on the garden premises. With this mind, the cafe even offers picnic boxes for this purpose. The food here is pretty standard with a selection of sandwiches and salads. There is also a coffee bar here which is why I decided to stop by. Got a flat white ($4) which appears to be made with beans from Double Roasters in Marrickville based on the cup that it came in. While I thought the flat white was good, it took a while to get it as there was a long queue of people waiting for their drinks. Wait was probably around 15-20 minutes on a Sunday afternoon. The pickup process is also a little confusing here since they don't write your name on the cup. I took my coffee outside and had a seat at one of the tables in front of the cafe. It was really interesting since the gardens are full of native Australian birds. Saw a couple Australian white ibis walking around near the table I was seated. A nice change from seeing pigeons mulling about. If you are feeling peckish or need a coffee pick-me-up while walking around the Royal Botanic Gardens, I would recommend stopping into this cafe. The cafe and the restaurant above are the only eateries that I saw here so it is the only place to go unless you want to walk back towards Circular Quay.

Great location food like sandwiches looked good. Opted for scones and tea because we had great scones a few days before at central station. Was a bad choice, scones were terrible, crumbly ( impossible to spread with jam and cream, fell into pieces, and overheated. Cream was watery with prepacked jam. Choose something else if you go to this great location. Take stick to fight off aggressive Bin-chickens. Do not leave small children with food unattended. These large birds are omnivores.

With her espresso machine she would make coffee and sell her handmade muffins from a collapsible table. The clientele was either commuters, tourists or for those who had time would sit on wooden stools and bask in the sun. Her clientele was consistent and the view being one of the best of Sydney Harbour. A permanent white box was then designed for her by Burton Katon Halliday where she was able to house a microwave, stove, fridge and her expresso machine and at that time the cafe was called See Sea. The coffee beans are from boutique coffee house Roseberry Street in Manly Vale, Northern Beaches. A Cremorne walk along the harbour can end with a coffee and muffin consumed one of the little wooden chairs and tables, your walk can continue afterwards through to Mosman or Taronga Zoo. Sophie passed away a few years ago and a close friend appealed that this place be remembered as her own. It is now fittingly called Sophie's Place. It is a must visit to Sydney, for the coffee and the views. Ask for Bernie if there is more than one person there but he by far is one of the best Baristas in this city.
