I was treated so warmly by the one young receptionist that I set up a routine checkup appointment for two weeks later on the spot. The dermatology PA-C Kara Hankes saw me. She was very warm and friendly as well. She was kind to talk to, gentle demeanor and thorough in her skin check. I asked her to remove a mole that I'd been scratching and a benign lesion on my cheek (I really should wear more sunscreen). As I was having a slight breakout around the scalp, she ordered me a prescription shampoo and had staff follow up a few days later to let me know the outcome of the mole removed. I will continue to come here and take advantage of the skincare offerings, such as reducing sun damage and facials.

We had spent considerable time discussing what I believed would be a long-term transition plan to gradually blend my colored hair into my natural gray using lower-chemical products. My understanding was that it would be a careful process that could take a year or two, with appointments lasting hours along the way. I left excited to begin that journey. So the unexpected phone call two weeks later was genuinely shocking. Looking back, perhaps we truly weren't "a good fit." That's perfectly okay. I wasn't looking for a friendship--I was looking for an experienced colorist who could guide me through this transition. If she had simply said, "I don't think I'm the right person for this project," I would have completely respected that. I just wish she had communicated more clearly and specifically and reminded me of the transition plan we had discussed so I could continue my search intelligently with another colorist. Instead, I was left wondering if my hair had committed a crime while I wasn't looking. One star for communication. In addition, my ability to run has been compromised due to plantar fasciitis on my left foot. In the time that I have been seeing Melissa, both of those problems have been brought under control. She has used massage to identify and work those muscles surrounding the nerve and in my calf and given me exercises specifically tailored to those areas. The result is that I can get through the workday without searing pain and have even started running again.
