That and the fact that botanical gardens are just gosh-dang beautiful. The park closes a little early in the evening, so I didn't have much time to explore before needing to clear out unfortunately. There is a part of the garden featuring hops and beer-helping plants. Loads of paths, lots of greenery...you can't go wrong. In the center of the park is the Palm House, which is spectacular to look at from the outside. It costs extra to go in, and I was at the end of my budget so I didn't get to go inside to see the exotic and tropical plants. If you like walking around in nature and looking at pretty things, you should come to the Botanisk Have. Also then you are close to the national art and geology museums...three birds (attractions) and one transit stop! Worth a stroll through!

I don't think we would have discovered it on our own. It's like one big courtyard garden that's located on the Castle Island between Christiansborg Palace and the historic Royal Danish Library. The Black Diamond (the modern extension of the library) building that you see from the harbor kind of obscures it all. It's feels like an oasis when first encountering it. That feeling multiplies when you see the koi fish swimming around the pond, and the water flowing from an impressive 26-foot-tall bronze sculpture. The architecture of the historic Library building in the background truly adds to the scenery. The fragrances coming from the flowers in this garden are amazing. I think it was the scent of the wisteria and flowering crab apple blossoms that stood out to me the most. It's all beautifully landscaped and manicured with colorful blooms. It was such a quiet and relaxing visit. I'd return again and again if I lived in this area. Don't miss this experience when passing through the grounds of Christiansborg Palace.

My first visit to this "garden" was back in 2013 or 2014 during the Copenhagen Cooking festival. At that time this park was full of small stands serving all sorts of food and drinks from smoked cheese, shrimps, ice cream and other food to beers from small home breweries and Danish snaps. Overall it is a beautiful little park with a fountain in the middle, a lot of benches all around, very quite and secluded. Great place to relax.

No one's playing games or picnicking or frolicking -- it's more a place for gentle strolling, for couples holding hands or locals cutting through on their way home. It's pleasant, peaceful, even regal in its restraint. But honestly? Not quite the showstopper its royal name might suggest. A fine garden, yes -- but more for the calm than the spectacle.

Grand, simple & elegant garden. The inside was just amazing from room after room, from one level to the next and you got to down into the jewel in the basement for the grand jewels plus others. Starting in the evening, all galleries, churches, museums as well as local businesses, government buildings and agencies, throw open their doors to the public offering a myriad of cultural activities. There is truly something for everyone - all ages and all interests. We learned how to cook pancakes on a fire, make votive holders out of birch logs, harvest seeds from summer's spent blooms to plant again next spring, what kind of grains are in your bread and how they are grown, how to press your own cider and even how to clean a deer and cook the venison over an open flame. Looking for something a little less "campy?" Live choral music in the churches lit up at night offered goosebump-inducing harmonies. So fun to see inside the buildings whose spires litter the Copenhagen landscape. Talks, lectures, special exhibits, light shows, live music and PEOPLE. Everywhere. We had never seen so many people out and about.
