By my second loop, the school groups had arrived and the energy shifted from calm exploration to lively chaos. The Biodome itself is massive, divided into five distinct ecosystems. It's right outside Viau Station, making it incredibly easy to reach. We had seen this place every time we have been in Montreal, but this is the first visit there when…read moreit was open! It is 100% worth the trip! You can buy a 2 hour or 4 hour band and off you go. My 12 year old was in heaven. He could climb, swing, jump, crawl, and propel himself all under the watchful eye of the wonderful souls in the red shirts. He was perfectly harnessed and they were very explicit in their safety rules. I was able to observe him from the ground in a comfy Adirondack chair with other parents. Some read books, others enjoyed the sunshine. It was a really positive experience. They have a small snack bar which was helpful. It really is a wonderful ropes/obstacle course. They have an inflatable park, but he never made it there since he was having a great time. We will definately go back!

You can rent shoes and a chalk bag, they have a nice shop area as well if you want to buy any of your own gear. Their entryway could use a bit of a change since in the winter I find it gets really wet with all the boots and they run out of hangers because of the heavy winter coats, but other than that it's good!

We were only able to climb the top out bouldering wall on the lower floor as they were changing the routes on the bouldering wall upstairs (not top out). There're more top-roping options than bouldering, and lead routes have the least available (understandable). I find it more worth it top-rope, so if you're new to the gym or visiting I would go with someone who can belay. As for the boulders themselves, they are graded based on circuits (V0, V0-V2, V2-V4, etc.; the grading scale is accurate). There were no V0s when we went, and there were 2 V0-V2s and 2 V2-4s, so if you're looking for a place more beginner-friendly, I would look elsewhere. Most of the climbs were advanced, so I would recommend being around V4 and above to make your visit(s) here worth it.

The handholds are challenging enough and they have areas more for beginners. If you go on a sunny day then I can see how it'd get crowded really fast but everyone is respectful and takes turns. It was $15 for the day pass and shoe rental which is a good price! My friend and I stayed for 1 hour and a half and I felt so tired afterwards. I think it's a great way to spend an afternoon. I saw lots of families there too so it's a good activity to get the kids active.

We visited the Montreal Olympic Swimming Pool and Olympic Parc on a full day tour of Montreal…read more It was super cool to see and hear about the construction of the facility and the pool for the 1976 Olympics. It's inside the giant, leaning, Montreal Tower, which in itself is really neat to see. In the Olympic Pool area, there is also a small museum too that covers the 1976 Olympic Games. On our tour, the guide explained to our group how the pool (and other smaller pools) were built for the swimming, diving, and other water sports. The pool is still used for recreational swimming by the citizens of Montreal, which I appreciate that they found a new use for it vs. tearing everything down and building over the site.

In 1976 the Summer Olympics were held in Montreal and this facility which is still in the same state as in 1976 with the Olympic rings outside the door was built for the swim competition. Now you have the opportunity to swim in the same pool as the Olympic Athletes. Canadians can buy monthly memberships but Americans can swim here for a daily fee of less than $8.00 CAD with a passport and proof of double vaccination. They even have the viewing stands so bring some friends and family with you to cheer you on like in the Olympics. The pool is super clean--the cleanest I have ever seen. And so are the locker rooms and showers. I had googles on and dove to the bottom a few times and it was cleaner than any pool that I have been in. You are required to keep a face covering on all times walking around except in the pool. ( I got reprimanded initially by the lifeguard for walking near the pool without one.) There are lanes for laps, a kiddie area, and free swim area. There are 2 lifeguards on duty on both sides of the pool. They even have a machine in the locker room to dry your swim suit--worked great! There are open lockers but you will need to bring a lock--we just used our small suitcase locks--it seems relatively safe when we were here. They have benches next to the pool for your towel and things. We took a Uber here from the hotel but if you are driving, park in P5 lot. Give yourself a few hours to come here because if you are not familar its a maze of Olympic buildings and once inside another maze figuring out how to get from the locker room to the pool without walking though another gender's locker room. I had to consult with other swimmers and such nice people in Montreal--they gave me an escort. Just a tremendous experience and we are thankful to the Montreal people for allowing us to "jump in."

It's very clean and people are very good about not congregating on the mats and blocking the boulders. That said, climbing for me is partially about community and I felt the staff was annoyed with my presence because my French isn't very good yet. Feeling immediately unwelcome kind of ruined the vibe for me and I don't plan to go back.

It's at a great location at the Old Port. It's effectively a large warehouse space with the labyrinth being made up of metal frames with vinyl barriers. You need to go to four station where you have your card punched before you can try and find the exit, with each station offering a bit of history of the city. We had purchased the MTL pass which gave us a choice of dozens of options to redeem (you need to look that up if visiting the city!). This hadn't been our first choice as we wanted to do a boat tour, but with that no working out, we found this. It wasn't the most elaborate or impressive thing, but it did still take a good hour to get through and the three kids with us (aged between 8-12) really enjoyed it. I didn't look up the prices, but it was a 'pink' activity from our pass which would've been about a $15 cost, and that was fair. I'd recommend it mostly just for those with kids, but with that in mind and it being in a great location, it's a good family option.
