The major issue with the evening was the extreme slowness of the kitchen (though the brasserie was less than half full, and for much of our time there not even one-third full). The owners made a business gesture at the end, with an apology and free dessert, so I'll just comment on the quality of the food and the service. The service was by two people who were obviously very inexperienced both in the job and what the brasserie had to offer: the waitress didn't even know whether they had any muscat for my apéritif. However, they did make up for that with their friendly, helpful natures and nice smiles. The food was so-so. We started with prawn cocktail, which was uninspiring and the prawns appeared to have been defrosted. I followed with an entrecôte with forestière sauce, fries and vegetables. The meat was fine, though not exceptional. The sauce was bland and lacking in real mushroom flavour. The vegetables were only four cherry tomatoes and a couple of asparagus tips. So, overall, the food was okay, but nothing to rant about. I could only hope that the restaurant would be better - but it still has the same kitchen.

I first had their chocolates in Zürich so, I made sure I grab some more when I got to Lausanne. It's a few minutes away from Place de la Palud and Lausanne Cathedral in an area with lots of nice shops, cafes and restaurants. It's a very busy and crowded area. The lady behind the counter was attentive and friendly. She was giving the customers she's helping where they're from so she can connect with them. As she did with us and the people in front of us in line. She was giving us free samples and a bag of free chocolates after buying a lot of chocolates. The store was out of boxes so, you have to get the pre-selected boxes from the shelves. If you want specific truffles, she'll put them in a paper bag. I got multiple truffles: Maracaibo, pistachio, cafe, centenaire, tea time, milk chocolate and the heart shaped truffles (I can't remember what kind it was). They have Absinthe truffles that I didn't get to try in Zürich that I was still hesitant to try in Lausanne. They have chocolate bars from different cacao sources from Dominican Republic, South America, and Africa. Aside from chocolates, they also have fruit jellies.

This location is bigger and cuter than the one in Montreux. I got finger patisserie in pistachio, and chocolate caramel hazelnut, and a jar of chestnut cream. I also got a cute pink coffee cup and a tote bag because I picked up some chocolates and the paper bags were heavy they started ripping. The macaron flavors are the same for the whole country. The only difference for this location is that they can print "Lausanne" on your macaron for an extra 0.80CHF. I didn't need any more macarons though as I still have 2 unopened boxes of them from Montreux. The desserts from Laduree are always good. Service was ok.

It's small but it has two tables with chairs in front of the shop. I picked a few boxes of macarons. One to enjoy while I'm in Montreux, the others for snacking while traveling to other parts of Switzerland. I got passionfruit and the seasonal flavors: crunchy chocolate pistachio (pistachio shell with kataifi on top with chocolate filling. Basically, Dubai chocolate), jasmine tea, Datte miel cannelle (dates, honey and cinnamon), Spice Hot Chocolate, Blackcurrant Violet, Coconut coated in milk chocolate (like chokladball), Amande agrume (almond citrus), and Hazelnut coated in milk chocolate. You can have logos printed on your macarons for 0.80CHF each but I don't have time for that. My favorites from my selections: crunchy chocolate pistachio, Spice Hot Chocolate, jasmine tea, and Hazelnut coated in milk chocolate. I like the chocolate-coated macarons because they stay fresh longer. I got the macarons in Le Petit Prince, and spring floral boxes. Service was fine and quick. We ate some macarons outside.

They have a nice assortment of sandwiches, pastries and sweet treats. It's a casual cafe that has about 8-10 tables. Locals reading newspaper while having a quick breakfast, and tourists. We got quiche and Nutella cannele. You can ask for your sandwich or quiche to be heated. The quiche hit the spot. The Nutella cannele was a sweet ending to the salty bacon from the quiche. Fleur de Pains has locations in towns along Lake Geneva. With that being said, don't expect artisanal products.

By and large everything I've tried has been tasty (and very filling), at a reasonable value for Switzerland. About every 1/10 times I visit, the quality of the meat is a little below par. The desserts and breads here are very good, and there's an excellent selection. There is also a wide variety of sandwiches, with different bread and filling options. Overall this is a great spot to get some takeaway and/or bakery items. As an added bonus, they're even open on Sundays (though not Mondays).

This location is a small but packed with good things store. Its a grocery store similar to Aldi in…read morethe states. Actually I think its the brother of Aldi who owns Lidl, FYI. Discounted but with good products. We bought wine form there for 1.30 Euro and it was delicious, as well as a Belgian beer. Everything is priced incredibly low and the store is clean. Groceries are good, produce is nice and the prices are right.
