They have a great selection of clothing and books. I managed to find two work appropriate shirts and one was Uniqlo! (one my favourite brands). I also found a book I liked for only $3.75. The new space on Boulevard Saint-Laurent is gorgeous, and much easier to shop (as in no squatting down to look at racks) and has much more room in general. They've kept a few small elements of the old place (hilarious vintage decor) which I'm very happy about, because honestly, it was the second best part of the store! The quality of the vintage stock seems to have improved, in that the less interesting flimsy modern pieces are pretty much gone. Not much else has changed other than the name/branding ( Local x annex) -- they still do their 30% and 50% markdowns, and the pricing seems about the same. You get the idea. Mind you I didn't just stop in here once or twice and happen to get all this cool stuff. I walk by this place practically everyday on my way to the metro so I usually get in a chance to duck in and have a quick look around. That and having a trained eye towards quality goods will eventually land you something if you're persistent enough. I really dislike the disposable, throw-away aspect of our culture and there really is truth that one person's junk can be another person's treasure. Plus Fripe-Prix Renaissance's mission is about helping persons who are usually disadvantaged get some skills and build up the confidence to stand on their own. Shopping here is just a win-win situation for everybody.

It's not my "thing" to go to consignment shops, but when I walked in, and everything everywhere jumped out at me and said "buy me".... I walked out of there beaming as I found several articles of clothing that fit me perfectly for example: Alexander Wang, Yohji Yamamoto, Victoria Beckham, Lanvin, Christian Lacroix, Alberta Ferretti, Dries Van Noten, Gianfranco Ferre, Vivienne Westwood, Tom Ford and more. Usually, consignment shops that carry top labels like these have an inordinate amount of suits from Coco Chanel and that is a big turn off to me. However, this particular store has a hip & happening vibe and their selection is extremely well curated, therefore, the energy that you feel when you are inside the store is beautiful.

If you are grossed out by places like "village des valeurs" and renaissances. It's a great place for you since all the good stuff is already skimmed out. In fact, there is a few stores like this one almost neighbouring each other so if you want the full experience. Look around on Saint-Laurent. This is a great place for a stop.
