Village des Valeurs is no bueno. However, this is the one VV I'll bother with. The staff are kind and efficient, the quantity of stuff here makes it fun to pick through, but the actual reason I ever go here is for the jeans. There is a massive jeans section and I think because it's West Island you can actually find quality brands in good shape and nice styles and all sizes.

I, just recently, bought a Pioneer Elite 7.1 channel Home theater amp, like new for $32, an Ekornes Stressless leather recliner with ottoman for $70 (She bought a new one last year in MTL for $4500), sweaters: $0.50, Powered Klipsch REF subwoofer- $2. Other than overhead, much of which is subsidized, the profit margin is almost $100%! - I am beginning to see her point but you locals should just not shop there and sell/buy your stuff on KIJIJI(sp) or craigslist. I really felt uncomfortable because the manager was acting very unprofessionally by yelling at her employees in front of clients! The store was busy, literally packed with customers, and the computers were malfunctioning. I get it, the situation was undoubtedly super stressful for the manager, but yelling at your employees to get back on the floor, or grabbing things out of their hands in a violent way is no way to manage a store. Then she would turn and smile at the clients when a few seconds earlier she was very rude to her colleagues. You know when you're at your friends house and your friend gets in trouble with their parents? And you just stand there awkwardly hoping it will end soon? That's exactly how I felt. Work on your customer service, girl.

I bought 21 items for $21 (and something) but I didn't bring any bags so they give trash bags. I had to walk with a 14 lbs trash bag on a hot day wasn't great. The 117 bus (I think) doesn't come often but thanks to a man who dropped me off the Namur station because it's about 20-30min walk from the Namur station. If you want to go there make sure you have bags and don't go there by public transportation.
