I…read morehad originally booked an AirBnB but when I walked inside the hotel I knew I had to stay here. The front desk staff were so sweet and accommodating.. they booked me a last minute room and it was for a solo traveler, since I was single, so it was small but adorable and luxurious and with the most incredible view of the ocean and pool. You can see all of positano from your balcony. I love the cool, clean and crisp ambiance here. There is already so much ancient architecture and history in Italy so it was nice to stay somewhere newer that felt clean and fresh. The all white is very calming yet there are pops of super cool art work and coffee table books around the hotel. We loved hanging out at the pool.. you can order drinks to the lounge chairs. And the restaurant next to the pool I went to everyday for lunch. I do wish they had more gluten free / vegan options actually on the menu.. seeing as it's a hotel with lots of travelers of different diets.. but they gave me a delicious fruit plate and fresh gluten free rolls with a side of avocado which I appreciated, and luckily I'm a light eater so this worked fine. The location was great right between Praiano and Positano. And they offer free shuttles to get around since there are no Ubers and rarely taxis on the Almafi coast.. so this was very helpful. The staff went above and beyond with every detail of our stay. I've stayed in world class hotels around the globe and there is always somewhat of a snobbery or just people who aren't friendly but here they were amazing, so kind and made the whole experience perfect so I would definitely return.

The monument shows this author with a book in one hand, left arm raised as if readying to share a message on literature. While the statue honors an important figure, the base of the statue looks like it needs some cleaning and maintenance. The rest of the square is an open cement tiled lot, with a historic building Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II (listed as a boarding school) bordering on the east. A historic astrological clock is set into the turret above the main entrance, and on the ground floor of the same building several cafes sandwich the entrance on either side. In the center of the piazza in April was a cluster of about two dozen temporary vendors set up under tented stands, selling artisan products such as handicrafts, jewelry, and food products. While in a bit of a touristy part in the historic downtown section of Naples, many locals live in the area and on a Saturday evening younger kids played soccer while several clumps of high schoolers socialized with friends. After an internet search we came across a well reviewed place that turned out not be available, but recommended Salerno In Alto Mare. We talked to the owner on the phone and communicated via email. It turned out to be very hard to locate even though we new the square/piazza that it was in. I posted a picture that shows what the building and front door looks like. Owner was very friendly and genuinely eager to do what he could to help us. Breakfasts were very good. Views were fairly good for a location a bit off the water. We did experience what we didn't like about B&Bs with a couple of Swiss girls that woke us at 0130 one morning with progressively louder laughter. Banging on the wall stopped it thankfully. We'll ignore the thoughtlessness of these clients towards our opinion of the owner and facility. For the price it was a good location, good service and the bedroom and private bathroom were clean and in good shape. We would consider staying here again if visiting the Salerno area, and recommend to others.

If we were to go back, we would be sure to reserve more time for relaxing on the terrace. Marco, Giacomo, and Pasquale attend to every detail, make fantastic cappuccino, and enjoy practicing their English with guests. The rooms are simple and I do wish they would upgrade, but the terrace and views were enough to compensate. The B&B's location requires a fairly steep walk up a path, but that makes it even more romantic and removed from the city. The brothers can recommend excellent restaurants and can help you figure out public transportation, as you would not want to hike all the way down to Positano and then back up again. Don't forget to try the homemade limoncello - it's a secret family recipe!!

Place seems family-run and people working it are super friendly - if they catch you leaving without a bottle of water you will probably get one from the fridge. Make sure to ask for tips regarding attractions, places to eat, places to go, how to get to the crater (how to take the almost-free city bus instead of the turisty ripoff). Breakfast looks home-made. Large private parking lot at the back, closed off with a gate at night. No elevator in sight, which may be important to some. Remind hotel staff you want air conditioning on at night, it is controlled centrally. We loved our stay there in June, if we ever go to Pompeii again it will be our place. Ask about the drive to the port area to have the ice cream. It's a fine ice cream, and the drive can be an adventure in itself.

As I walked in the modern city of Pompei full of tourists and souvenir shops I reached the square of the great Basilica. On the opposite side I found myself surrounded by nice locals who recommended B&B Gallery, just around the corner. Got a big room with a spacious bathroom and a big balcony. Situated right in the middle of the city the price was utterly modest. Breakfast was served on the other side of the street where I sat and overlooked the Basilica with Vesuvius in the background, while the streets woke up and the morning breeze made the coffee taste better than ever. For the moment not worrying what the volcano had in mind. In year 79 it killed everyone around in a few minutes. Nowadays no one seems to worry though. I stayed for a day or two longer than planned. Learned that the host was born in Pompei. As a child he used to play and run around in the ancient city. He knew a lot about this great historical site. Together with his co-host he spoke several languages, including Russian. Their hospitality was one of a kind and I can highly recommend B&B Gallery. Yes, I rested my bones, enjoyed my sleep and the privilege to leave Pompei enrichened by bygones - as well as contemporary life. And not the least; the warm generosity I met at B&B Gallery.
