We weren't sure if our tour would be impacted by the smoke and haze or not. First Paul kept us informed in the time leading up to our tour and even on the morning of the tour, Paul showed up saying he couldn't promise great visibility but he would try his best IF we wanted to go, if not, he totally understood and whatever we decided was fine. We couldn't believe how he much he was willing to work with us. We decided to give it a shot, we didn't have anything else planned it seemed a shame not to try. We are so glad we did. True the smoke did somewhat hamper our visibility but Paul did such a great job taking us to wonderful lookouts that were off the beaten path that we still did get to see some remarkable vistas. It almost looked otherworldly at times with just faint silhouettes of the mountains rising above the smoke. We had seen other visitors photos so felt like we were getting to see the Blue Mountains from a vantage point few others have experienced. Plus Paul taught us many thing about the flora, fauna and Tim Tam Slams along the way. After a super lunch, Paul thought of another place to take us so we could see some other great views in the Royal National Park that were not obscured by the smoke. It was breathtakingly beautiful and just went to show how versatile and fluid the tour could be. Paul really does go all out to make sure you have the best tour possible. He is extremely knowledgeable about a host of different subjects and was so laid back and easy to be around that he was an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Our entire group had a wonderful time. Richard kept us entertained in between tour stops with fun facts and the historical background of Sydney/Australia. Most importantly, I felt we got a deeper understanding about the aboriginal culture. We were able to take a look inside Richard's home, where we met his lovely wife and mother, and saw beautiful aboriginal themed art pieces. We visited several lesser known parts of Sydney and in particular enjoyed a Bay frequented by locals. Overall we had a wonderful time and learned a lot about Sydney. Our guide ignored NSW park safety guidelines, failed to notice six missing group members, and dismissed responsibility by claiming it's 'impossible' to track customers. The company prioritizes profit over safety, even considering cutting basic food options. I have reported them to NSW authorities and strongly warn others to avoid this company before a tragedy occurs. You will already be able to see this in their reply to this review, as they will attempt to dodge responsibility since their motto is "the customer is always wrong".

Upon arriving, Greg greeted me with a brief description of the beers at the first pub as well as an intro on the history of the Rocks areas. Each pub on the tour had a unique history and experience. I learned so much about the city and had a variety of beers that are only found in Australia. Greg answered all of my questions about the Rocks area as well as gave me helpful tips on how to have a "Barbie on the beach" on my walk from Coogee to Bondi tomorrow. Really great tour from an extremely knowledgeable local! Highly recommend!

Of course the day I planned this tour, it was overcast in Sydney but raining as we drove out into the country side. Oh and foggy and just blah. I had brought a raincoat and was somewhat prepared for the weather but the views were poor. BUT despite the weather, Hayden made our tour. We stopped at a shop so folks who needed to buy a poncho could and also so folks could take a toilet break. And since the weather was uncooperative, Hayden drove us to a small park at the end of a neighborhood to see the Aboriginal markings. We learned about tribal traditions, and about his background on both sides of his family. His knowledge of the area, plants, and critters made everything fun. We drove to Blue Mountain National Park and saw the Three Sisters even though they were trying to hide in the fog. We continued on to Scenic World which was much less touristy than I feared. Great time and highly recommended, no matter the weather.

Matt had found so many hidden gems to see from local plants, birds, batts and reptiles, to experiences with Koalas, meerkats, and emus. The day never felt rushed, but we got to see all the animals and have the experiences we dreamed of. Matt is a stellar driver so we felt safe at all times, he's super collaborative on how to spend the time, and thoughtful beyond expectation to ensure we had great places to eat even with 2 vegans and 1 celiac. And to top it off, he's the kind of guy you can just relax with, get to know each other, and laugh a lot. It was an amazing day. Highly recommend. And he's an amazing photographer who spent the day taking pictures so we could just enjoy the time without the hassle of grabbing the phone.

I went on a Blue Mountains tour with Happy Coach Tours today, and it was excellent…read more It's a small bus - 21 passengers plus the driver/guide - and it felt like a small group, like a personalized tour. Our guide, Jimi, was fantastic. He was friendly and cheerful the whole day. Great energy. They picked us up on time from a variety of locations in the city, and then we drove out to Blue Mountains National Park (air-conditioned bus, bonus!). We did a great hike around Wentworth Falls. Jimi's stories and jokes were hilarious, and he knows quite a bit about the local wildlife. We tried to go to a spot to see wild kangaroos, but recent flooding means the road was closed, so no luck there. Next we went to a picnic spot for lunch (included in the tour, one of the selling points for me), and then over to Katoomba falls and the Three Sisters. Another great hike. After this, we went a little off the main road to a lookout over the opposite side of Jamison Valley and the Three Sisters, an excellent view and no other tour groups were there. We were back in the city just after 5:30 as promised. This was a great tour by a superb tour guide, and very good value in my humble opinion at $70 for a full day of activities and lunch included.

The bus is small and air conditioned (a real plus there), and our fearless leader Rod was interesting, knowledgeable and funny. He lived in the Blue Mountains until he was of high school age, so he's very familiar with the area. Rod explained all about what we were seeing, and gave us insights into the Australian culture. We hiked to Wentworth Falls and saw spectacular views, including wild cockatoos. The hike is not at all difficult for anyone who's in fairly decent shape, It is about an hour and includes some ups and downs and stairs, but I'm 66 and my boyfriend is 75 and it was no problem for us. Then we had a bushwalk to Kings Tableland Lookout, which was very impressive indeed (no other coaches there), and then we enjoyed a simple, nourishing lunch in another beautiful spot before going to see the Three Sisters. Then we headed for home. Rod not only navigated the trails beautifully, but navigated us through Sydney traffic just as well. We had a wonderful time and recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see The Blue Mountains in all their natural splendor, do something other than winetasting, shopping, and cuddling native animals held in captivity. I can never recommend that! It's a long day, and the drive to the Blue Mountains takes about two hours - but it's well worth the trip!
