The hotel was booked out with heavy metal fans (including a few families) who all landed back to the hotel covered in mud. The hotel had placed out plastic bags for everyone to put their muddy clothes into. They had signs around the reception, hoping everyone enjoyed themselves, and asking nicely to use the bags. They put on a selection of pizzas and food late in the evening for people coming back from the festival. And above all that, the staff were fantastic. Helpful, cheery, in great humour. There is plenty to do but many of the activities are charged for. The cost of most activities is £1.50 each which I think is reasonable when you haven't had to pay to get in! There is a children's play area which is free of charge as well as beautiful walks around the large lake which is like being at the seaside. Boats are available to hire on both the small and large lakes. The small lake having kayaks suitable for most ages and the large lake offering sailing boats and motor boat rides as well as lessons. There are loads of ducks and swans on the lakes and they don't mind people. A cygnet came right up and let me take a picture of it! We walked along to the railway. We didn't go on the train but we defintely plan on going back to do so. The prices for the trains are really good (£8.45 for a family of 2 adults and up to 4 children for an all day ticket). There are a couple of nice cafes. We had a drink in Alfie's by the train station which is a bar and cafe. I was amazed (in a good way) that 2 large glasses of coke was just £2. The food prices were reasonable although we had taken a picnic so we didn't try the food! I could go on about this place forever. It's brilliant and if you don't want to do any of the activities, you won't have to spend anything if you don't want to! The only bad thing I found was that the toilets in the main bit weren't very nice and the only toilets with soap in were at the train station. There are plenty of toilets though so you don't have to come all the way back to the start just to go to the loo which is good!

All bus stop are well labelled, starting from "A" and going down the alphabet. There are also electronic billboards beside the bus stops, so easy to figure out which buses are going to be coming. I did think some of the street sign directions inside the bus depot was a bit confusing however it's a nice spacious hall with benches, and basic amenities, so a decent spot for folks to wait for their bus, if needed. When you move in you have to fill in an itinery of what is damaged etc and you have 48hrs to do this but as the weeks go by you notice things you didnt notice before and so you will have to pay for this if they see the damage or whatever, so i'd suggest you do a very thorough check. There are approximately 38 double rooms i believe the rest are single, I have have a double room and it is bigger than my room at home its huge, all rooms are ensuite and the flats are in block of 6, each floor has 2 or 3 flats on them. Overall the staff are helpful, but can be funny at times, also you cannot get post on a saturday as the reception is not open on a saturday.

Everything about the hotel was average, the furniture was plane, walls were white wash with that bobbly texture that was all the rage decades ago. Checkout staff were courteous enough but not too much to appear creepy ad false which can happen is some luxury places. At £34.90 for the room with 2 people sharing it was a bargain. I wouldn't pay the normal £69 they advertise on there own website however. The breakfast was extra which we didn't partake in. It also had secure parking and a 24 hour reception. If I were to holiday for anymore than 2 days on Birmingham I probably would not choose this place because as I mentioned the lack of furnishings could give off a cold vibe. But for somewhere to stay so you can go out without worrying about transport home it's perfect for it.
