Doing some research online, I came across this park. It's nice to see what the Hudson Valley offers…read morefor its park! Parking can be limited at times, so the best time to go is early in the day. There are multiple paths that anyone can take, but for our convenience, we did the red and yellow path (those are the main ones). Other paths are found along the trails. Some of the markings can be unclear along the way, so keep an eye out on that. It's best to follow the dirt path at all times. Be aware, most of it is windy. The fire tower wasn't what we expected. As we approached near the top, there were a lot of bees on the railing. The view is excellent from where we stopped, but not enough to fulfill a hiker. Another thing is to watch out for is bugs. There is a lot of shady spots on each path, therefore, I strongly recommend bringing bug spy. Something I learned too. As long as you look at the map, there won't be any problems.

From there, you can venture into the woods for a 3/4 to a mile "easy hike" surrounded by trees, trickling stream & a few furry animals, like squirrels & chipmunks, collecting acorns. Kid friendly, this is a great walk/hike for the whole family.

Really cute park with lots of easy hiking trails at a former apple orchard…read more The views are really pretty especially for sunset time and it's located at the highest point in Poughkeepsie. I love that throughout the trail you have little signs explaining fun facts about the animals you find there and insects such as frogs and fireflies. Really cool to learn while you walk. Came here in November for some photos but there wasn't too much foliage. Can't imagine how beautiful the park must be during spring with their apple blossoms and being able to Apple pick too! The cool thing is this park is run by a nonprofit, The Friends of Peach Hill and they're always looking for volunteers to help maintain this beautiful place. Porta potties available and beware of ticks. Signs are posted everywhere when you first walk in and I took my very first one home from just walking around and being in low cut grass area. That's the only downfall and main thing I can't evennnnnn deal with in the north east. Other than that, cute park with lots of picnic tables and areas where you can enjoy creation.

My son was hesitant while we waited, but once we stepped inside, the staff member operating the elevator was incredibly friendly and put him at ease. The moment we stepped onto the bridge, the views were beautiful. We wandered around, read the dedication plaques, and my son immediately wanted to run everywhere -- he didn't want to leave! We eventually convinced him because the museum was next on our list, but he made it clear he wanted to come back. We'll definitely return and walk the full length next time. Such a great find.

The park facilities are clean and they offer a trolley service during specific parts of the day (there's a lot of great on-site, signage and information about this and other services). When I visited they had a few little food trucks: I really enjoyed the frozen peach frozen from the Lemon Love truck - the perfect combination of sweet and tart flavor! There's also a lot of of history on the walkway - statues, markers, and small interactive signs create a cool opportunity to learn about the area. For parking on the Ulster County side be prepared to park in spots on the side of the road that are metered or in the general lot. The bridge takes 30 to 40 minutes to walk making it a great morning or afternoon activity!

Parking - The parking lot on St. Josephs Dr. on the uphill is not big at the entrance with only fitting around 6 - 7 cars. For alternatives, parking on Franklin Ave. (Main St.) which includes parallel parking and/or another lot located behind the gas station is provided with plenty of space. A little bit of walking is required leading to the other entrance which is located just before the tight turn on Franklin Ave. with a series of steps which you'll see the American Flag at the top. Park - A playground is one of the highlights of stopping here, with a lot to choose from offering slides, swings, sand diggers, a toy fire truck to climb into. I remember those days when I was younger. The best part is there is a sidewalk connecting to all of these attractions, instead of walking on the grass. There is also a veteran's memorial to view just behind the playgrounds along with a bathroom. There is a trail that loops around the park which then meets back at the bottom where the main entrance is. For any type of setting, the park provides a variety of activities to do here.

There are two trails, marked green and blue. The blue starts further in, which does a loop following the Wappingers Creek, before returning to the green. Also, can't miss the baseball field upon entering. I enjoyed the walk, although, with a lot of fallen trees down on the blue trail, that brings down one star. Any locals or anyone in the area killing time, make this stop.

The trail heads straight up a large hill, but it was still doable for my young kids, and my old, out of shape friends as well. And a puppy. There's a parking lot right off the road to leave your car, and whenever you head over there, it's going to be a good time...but golden hour into sunset makes for a nice evening. You can see for miles around from the top, and it's just pretty. I bet it's beautiful in all seasons; we've only hit it in fall so far, but I imagine it could be great for an epic sled run as well. Once again though, there are no burgers on this hill. If you need a good one, Del's Roadside is only a couple minutes away. And you earned it by walking up a hill.

Picnic tables are accompanied along here and the other section on the northern side with many more. Grills are provided for a plus near the picnic tables. Boat docks are used in this park for anyone's pleasure, and there's plenty of room for it to be done right. The view of the Hudson River is an incredible closeup, seeing the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge as the highlight and also viewing the east side of northern Dutchess County. In the distance on that side, you'll get a glimpse of the train tracks of Amtrak and occasionally CSX trains passing by. We happen to see an Amtrak heading north as we were leaving. Looking even further, especially if it's a clear day, you'll see the town of Rhinecliff to the south. It's a great place to have a get-together and to take in nature at this location!

You're right along the river, and there's a deck area where folks lounge and fish. You have quite a view of the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. If you're there when the Rhinebeck Aerodrome is open, you'll occasionally see one of their planes fly over the river to about the same latitude as the park, which is evidently their turn-around point. Since my wife and I became parents, I feel like we've both become playground connoisseurs. We've…read moremade quite a list of good playgrounds in the tri-state area, but one of our absolute favorites is Julie's Jungle in Hopewell Junction, New York. Inceptioned in 2012, the playground was named after Julie Keating. Young Julie was afflicted with both physical and cognitive disabilities and was often unable to join in on the fun at her local park. She tragically passed away in 2007 at the age of 15. Her younger sister Natalie later wrote a letter to the East Fishkill recreation committee asking them to build a handicapped-accessible playground. The town accepted the proposal. Phase I of the playground opened in 2016 and Phase II was completed in 2018. Julie's Jungle was the first fully accessible playground built in Dutchess County. It was built for children of all abilities to play and learn together. It's equipped with accessible routes and paths throughout, ramps, spacious decks, short stair heights, Braille play panels, and even a sensory garden. Whenever my family and I are passing through the area, we always make a point to stop at Julie's Jungle. Both of my sons love playing here. They have so much fun that our visits seem to end in the blink of an eye. We wish that more playgrounds were like this. FUN FACT: For those parents like me who enjoy good craft beer and wood-fired pizza, Sloop Brewing Company is just a three-minute drive away!
