FIVE TEEN DOLL HAIRS PER PERSON. Not a bad price if you plan on using all of these experiences in one day of course. but if you're only going for a swim, I find this extremely appalling. considering I only used the day pass for a 5-minute swim outdoors, (crowed with nothing for adults to do) and then a 2-minute swim inside (loved it more as a child ((I used to come here for daycare while my mom worked)) this happened because the bikini I was wearing tied on my neck in the back, apparently this type of bathing suit is completely unacceptable. they offered me a shirt of SHAME. I'm sorry but i would never publicly shame myself like that, i do not find my OWN BODY inappropriate, I'd rather just be in the comfort of my own home instead of enjoying my day. also, there were BUGS!!!!!!! IN THE LADY'S SHOWERS!!!!! FLYS FLYS AND MORE FLYS. god is accepting of all. except if you are wearing a two-piece bikini. all the other people were extremely nice and were amazing. staff could be more welcoming. of everyone. very arrogant Christian's -1/10

My son is 9 and had fun, and we were visiting friends with a 3 year old and a 1 year old and they both had fun as well!

There aren't any stoves or ovens but there is a decent amount of space as well as a couple of serving windows that face one of the doors to the banquet hall. We got a really good deal for them, but we also rented during the week and I imagine the weekend price is a little higher. The grassy area is a little small, but there is still plenty of space to set up a nice sized event. The barn is a nice blank slate that you can do anything with to jazz it up. Our only complaint about the barn is that one of the doors is painted this really ugly color that makes it stand out in a bad way. You could argue it's rustic, and you can hide it or take attention away from it, but we would have like it to be painted another color. There is no electric at the barn, so if you need power you will have to run extension cords or have battery powered devices. The banquet hall itself is quite large with plenty of space for a large group, or a medium group to have a large dancing area with food tables. We elected to put our food tables in the hall just to maximize space, and there was still plenty of walking space in the hallway. The hallway also has a really nice fireplace with 2 chairs that makes for a great photo spot. The boardroom is a generous size with more electrical outlets than I could see you ever needing. It has a nice sized table and some semi-comfortable chairs. I'm not sure what you have to do to get permission to use but there is also a firepit outside, and that is next to an old post office building that is petite and makes for another great photo spot. Since the community center gets used quite often most of our vendors had been there before and that made it really easy to get them set up. There were some other rooms available and a courtyard area, I can't comment on those but the place itself has a lot to offer and is great for whatever event you need to host!

I didn't look at the other rooms but I posted pictures of the Metzger Room that we rented. The day that we had our party, there was a wedding reception in the banquet hall and a graduation party in the other rooms. Mary and Connie were the contact people and were friendly and nice to work with. They seem pretty flexible and willing to work with your needs. The rental fees were reasonable and it's great because they allow you to bring your own food/caterer. They do require a deposit for damages but they are really fast at returning it after your event. The Metzger room had a fridge and sink which was convenient for preparing food, etc for the party. And it connected to an outdoor patio space. The room was a bit hot on the day we were there & there didn't seem to be a way to control the air but overall the room fit our need.

As soon as you open the door to step inside, the smell hits you like a freight train. Mold. Mold. Mold. It was so over powering I was concerned about just sitting inside. I spent most of the time outside because of the mold. They served lemonade which I made a big mistake of trying. It tasted like they got their water from a used toilet. It was so bad that at the end of the event, all the drink containers were still full. They charged over $1000 for some cold meat sandwiches and im not even kidding, like 10 slices of cheese. When asked about more cheese we were told no. I personally didn't touch the food. I didn't trust it wouldn't get me sick honestly, especially with the mold and the off putting taste of the lemonade that I ended up throwing out after one sip.​

After the Black Swamp Arts Festival I was looking around for more to explore and I came across this…read morehidden gem a good walking distance from downtown. When I was walking there I thought I was surely lost. I love plants and gardens in general and this was quite a collection of plants and flowers. The Simpson Garden Park is 11 acres of rolling gardens in the middle of an urban landscape. The estate features a Children's Discovery Garden with pond and activities, Sensory Garden, Shade Garden with an incredible collection of Hosta, Daylily Garden with an amazing collection of lily, Sculpture Garden (which left me wanting a little more, sadly), a new Japanese Peace Garden and a Healing Garden at the end, to name a few. All free to the public to enjoy. You can easily spend a few hours exploring all the flowers but also the wildlife. An abundance of bees, butterflies, frogs, caterpillars, and hummingbirds are provided a free playground with all the pollen rich florals. Great place to get away and take a breather and to bring the kids to let them safely explore the riches of nature found in their own backyard.
