Cards, notebooks, jewelry, soap, lotion, kitchen goods - this place has so many unique things, arranged so interestingly, that you'd have to stand still in front of a display for five minutes just to notice everything. Someone else mentioned tripping over their big dog, but he's so sweet, and zen-like, the way he stops wagging his tail to be able to concentrate more when you so much as touch the top of his head, he's made me change my mind about big dogs. (I thought I didn't like them.) Thank you, big dog. Come here when youre in the mood of not minding spending a bit of money on something that's one-of-a-kind special as a gift for yourself or someone else. Or just come to browse for twenty minutes while waiting for your Kemuri reservation. Box Turtle is where me and my girlfriends go to whenever we feel like shopping. It's in a house in the middle of Hillcrest which is a great neighborhood. It totally fits in there because it has a lot of special, unique and funky pieces. It has tons of great jewelry and a lot of organic beauty products. The top floor has all the clothes, but I usally stay too busy on the 1st floor to look at the clothes. It is pricey, but it's the kind of place that is worth saving your money for. The salespeople are really nice and friendly. They always seem so appreciative that you're there. I really think it's one of the best boutiques in L.R.. A lot of the new boutiques in L.R. come off as pretentious, but this one is really laid back and cool. I've been living in L.A. where we're suppose to be the epitomy of fashion, but everytime i go home to L.R. I run to this place to shop. read more

I've always loved Box Turtle. They got me in the door because I have a soft spot for turtles, but I stayed for the friendly service, the eclectic selection, and sheer variety of trinkets, jewelry and knick-knacks that will be filling my gift boxes for years to come! It's a small space, with winding racks of items big and small, and it hosts all kinds local artists, sports a lot of those little signs full of witty zingers, and some of the most unique jewelry you'll find anywhere in town. The good: This is a small, cute boutique with very unique items and some high-quality, Arkansas-specific gifts. Well-lit, very neat and clean, and very trendy. The not-so-good: I almost tripped and fell over the large dog lying in the middle of the entryway. I got a headache from how strongly the building smelled of what I think was incense. A sales associate stared at me from the time I walked in to the time I left. At one point she and I were the only ones upstairs and she trailed behind me and stared at my back without even pretending to be doing anything else. Whenever I visit my best friend in Little Rock I insist she takes me to visit Box Turtle. I first visited in 2007. I just visited again last week and it remains fresh, with a uniquely eclectic mix of trinkets to choose from. The first floor will keep you occupied for some time and upstairs is clothing central. The neighborhood is great and very walkable. The house itself is crooked and cool. If you put a marble on the floor it would surely roll to the other side of the house without pause. I travel to Little Rock quite frequently for work. Shortly after my first trip there I became a fan of Corto on Project Runway. I remembered, from the show, that she was from Arkansas so I looked to see if she had a boutique in Little Rock for my next trip. Box Turtle was the most convenient location for me to check out Corto's clothing line. That's how I found Box Turtle but that's not why I keep going back. The first time I went there I fell in love. It's such a cozy little shop that carries such unique and fun items. I made a promise to myself that I would buy myself one thing from Box Turtle every time I travel to Little Rock. Since then I have acquired two of my favorite shirts from Box Turtle. Now, I get to say to my Bostonian friends that I have clothes from the same boutique that Corto sells her merchandise in.... which also means that I don't have the capital for her clothes yet.
