Its large street sign attracted our attention, and even though it was late and almost closing time, my friend and I decided to stop and give it a look. It contained one of the largest selections of unique seasonal home decor and furniture of Roanoke Valley, with over 150 vendors. We parked and went inside, and I was impressed with how well everything was organized. The nice cool temperature of the place and the pleasant smell motivated one to walk around and explore all the items exhibited there. It was time to close, so I asked for a business card, and we decided to return next week and then have dinner in one of the many great restaurants in Salem. So, on the next week, we arrived early in the afternoon with enough time to explore the entire extremely large store space. There were some antiques in good or almost excellent condition, some Americana collections, some perfect antique, and Americana collections, some wonderful pieces of quality furniture including some Ethan Allen, some unique signs with sayings, jewelry, glassware, silverware, homemade greeting cards, books, and almost all you can think of. There is also a space with the Apperson Cafe with bread and some other bakery items made by the Amish. I was also able to talk with some of the vendors who were bringing new items to their space or cleaning the last items they brought and arranging them. They were wonderful individuals who really enjoyed finding the items and putting them for sale at very reasonable prices. The owner of the store also had items for sale there, and the salespeople treated us very kind as we asked them some questions. I would definitely recommend this store to those looking for gifts or items to decorate their own place.

And one day, for one reason or another, one desides to stop and go inside. This precisely is what happened to me with Artsy June. One day I was walking along the sidewalk of Market Street in Downtown Roanoke. I saw this interesting little store front. Read this verse that was written on a standing blackboard: "People will throw stones at you. Don't throw them back. Collect them all and build an empire." After reading this my curiosity kicked in and I proceeded to enter the store. The first thing I saw was a restored and renovated jukebox playing songs in the background. Then after looking around I deduced that this was a very special Gift Shop, that sold all kinds of artistic and very creative gifts, as well as Second Hand Vintage Clothing and Items at very reasonable prices. Among the items they had for sale, they had original miniature watercolor paintings signed by the local artist, small signs with inspirational sayings, some original and very creative pottery, souvenirs of Roanoke, an antique typewriter, nice wooden objects such as Chest boards, coffee mugs with saying on them, glass items, home decoration items, cushsions, some furniture, umbrellas, and second hand vintage clothes and items. What also was interesting about the store was that the dressing room was made in the inside of what once was a refrigerator room. A young lady employee greeted and welcomed me and explained all about the shop to me. She was also the artist of the miniature watercolor paintings. What a great little local shop. Just browsing all the items there was a delight. I would highly recommend those reading this review accompanied by my photographs to definitely go visit. And those artistic inclined individuals who might have they would like to sell to take them for the owner to see. Maybe she could include them among the store stock. Stopped in here last weekend with my mom looking for some specific items she needs for her home -…read moretwo end tables, a bench, and a computer desk. She also found that she wants a hutch, a tv stand, and a kitchen table set while we were looking in here.... lol. This store is HUGE with tons of great stuff - I think it's like 3500 sq. feet or something. They have small collectibles, lamps, candles, some drapery (small amount), and TONS of handmade Amish furniture. Prices are fair for some good quality stuff. I spent around $600 for an end table, a magazine table, a custom computer desk, a large bookshelf and a pretty good sized bench. We took everything that day except the computer desk which is going to be made to order (with the colors my mom chose) and will take about 4-6 weeks. I was impressed - I saw a lot of really cute things in here and they have TONS of furniture in different sizes and options - kitchen tables, benches, chairs, tables, end tables, beds, nightstands, tv stands, cabinets, kitchen shelves, display tables, display cabinets, bookshelves, etc. You name it - you can probably find it here. We decided to go at their restaurant connected next door on Friday, July 4th for lunch & coffee. I'm going to include in my alphabet series as I left off on U and starts with W (Westlake Coffee & Cafe) for a 2nd W. Presidential M&M's on Friday, July 4, 2025: And speaking of W, I saw Presidential M&M from Bush, which I thought was a cool collectable. I Googled the signature and realized it was not HW Bush Sr. but W. Bush Jr. Also, I saw there was a website listed, which wouldn't have been the case from HW Bush (1989-1993) when Internet was in its infancy. It seemed like a fair price at $5.99, so I bought. The woman at the cashier was very nice. I said I thought it seemed cool and asked if she had other Presidents. She said she had Obama, which I said was cool. (Side note: I happened to look at my 2018 Ben's Chili Bowl DC review & I'll say what I said then about Obama dining there, the Obama candy in this case wouldn't have impressed him; he'd still want Trump as of 7/7/25!). I asked if she had for Clinton or before, which she said yes and even mentioned how she is in government & went on Air Force during Clinton. She said if we came back tomorrow she would bring them in. Other Interesting things I observed in the store on July 4: They had a good variety of various Knick knacks, candy, sweets, chips, salsa, & honey. I didn't need the sweets although a couple were a bit tempting. Also, they had a Prayer request journal, where I wrote my name & mentioned something I'll share personally here on Yelp. I had cancer in August 2023, successful surgery, but cancer back & chemo started in June 2025. Very good prognosis for this type of cancer, thankfully, but still chemo sucks, and should be cancer-free in August. Also, thankfully, the Smith Mountain 4th of July trip was during the tail end of chemo round 1 (6/16-6/20) & right before round 2 (7/7-11). Saturday, July 5, 2025: Going back to the store was off our radar on the morning & early afternoon on July 5. That morning we slept until 9:45 set alarm, and her mom said she was going to wake us soon because the friends wanted us to meet in morning so we needed to leave at 10:30 or so to get there about 11. We rode the boat across down from Franklin County home all the way down by the dam & across to Bedford County. We hung with them from 11-1. Then, got back to house, then at lunch, then her parents said we are going to dock, & played a game outside. We walked back up to the house at 3:30, and I said I just remembered the Presidential M&M + 4th of July weekend event set for Saturday, the 5th. She said that's right, and they are closed Sunday. I said they are open until 5 PM because that's what the event time was. So, we got over there about 4 PM. They had a couple of samples for the event as well as popcorn outside, which I enjoyed, after we left. I looked for the cashier, but I didn't see her. Then, I asked a different woman saying I was here yesterday, got W. Bush Presidential M&M's and had asked about others, and she said oh yes she said you had asked about them, and she left earlier. The cashier handed me the bag with Obama Hershey's Kiss (he decided to go different) and Clinton M&M's. She said it's On the House! On the House is my Favorite 3-word preposition! We might need to get candy or something next time we are down there and/or maybe go back to Westlake Coffee/Cafe.

From what I can tell, their staff is mostly adults (i.e, non-students) - I didn't see any students working during my most recent visit. But all the employees I've encountered are friendly, helpful and professional. Their prices are competitive, based on like items (items that I also saw at Rally House), and Emporium boasts products that are bit more exclusive (locally made t-shirts, VT-specific shirts, things of that variety) and unique.
