It's a perfect reminder of how corporatization and privatization ruins most things in last stage capitalism. A whole family can ski here and it doesn't break the bank. Boyce Park has an excellent kids park our little girls love it ! Swings and slides and a really nice picnic area as well. The play park has adult equipment as well I wish I had more pictures and next time I will share. Highly recommend ! The park is located just a few feet from the main entrance. read more

The addition of the pump track and climbing walls is amazing! Can't wait for the bathrooms to be installed and this will be one of the best parks around! More parks need to add pump tracks and climbing walls. Even with a packed parking lot there was enough space for everyone to ride and climb. 10/10 would definitely recommen! read more

Review based on the snow tubing offered in the winter months. If you want a really nice park, with decent snow tubing, for 1/3 of the price - you should check this place out! We had been researching places to go tubing for weeks - when we heard about Boyce, and how affordable it was, it was almost too good to be true! This tubing run is especially nice for families with small children, because other ski resorts (Seven Springs, Whisp) do not allow children under a certain height to tube. There is still a restriction here, but it is more lenient. All in all, there wasn't any fancy restaurant or bar - like Seven Springs, or Whisp - but it was very close to the city, and was very affordable. Would have loved if there were more runs open - but the weather wasn't very cooperative so it's understandable. Also, the tubes were rather flat - would have been great to walk in and grab an inflated tube from the start, but we had to sort through them for a bit to find 4 that were blown up and ready to go. read more

They have this thing called a "snack bar " where you pay 2.00$ for an airy bag of chips , did I mention AIRY? This is one of my favorite spots in the area. This park is dog friendly, and is a great getaway right in Pittsburgh's backyard. Tons of trees for hanging your hammock and relaxing. The people who visit are friendly and the trails are clean and well maintained. If you want to get some fresh air, this is the perfect spot. Also, the pavilions are wonderful for a picnic! read more

This is one of my favorite places to snowboard simply cause it's so close to Pittsburgh! The terrain is pretty fun even though it's limited. Snowmaking is topnotch for the price and size. The quality of rentals here is surprisingly good. The concessions are there to keep you alive since it's not great. The staff here are fine; not terrible but nothing too great. If you're just looking for a place to hit the slopes, Boyce Park is a great option! read more

I love Boyce Park, and I'm so happy to live so close! No matter what season, there are things to do at Boyce Park.. and how many community parks can say that!? The skiing/snowboarding is good, especially for the cost and convenience. You may not be able to spend an entire day on the slopes, but again, for the price and how close it is to home, it's an awesome half-day adventure. The park itself is big- lots of entrances, lots of space, lots of parking. There's the ski lodge as already discussed, the wave pool, soccer fields, baseball fields, basketball courts, a couple kids playgrounds, lots of pavilions for picnics, an archery field, a model airplane field, and lots of AWESOME trails! If you're into hiking, trail running, or MTB, this is your destination. The trails are all over the place (i think there are something like 28 miles of trails here), and there are trails for all different tastes and skill levels, and they are a ton of fun! Well kept and clean, and fairly easy to navigate (I suggest downloading the MTB app before heading over, because there are so many that it can be easy to get confused or overwhelmed.. this app is awesome). The only thing that the park is missing, is a nice disc golf course! Then it would really have just about anything and everything you could want in a community park. Where we at on that, Allegheny County!? :) I highly suggest exploring Boyce Park, and not just once - go multiple times so you can really experience all that Boyce Park has to offer! read more

I went to their ski slopes to snowboard with some friends 30 MINUTES after opening and they declined to sell us lift tickets with the excuse that they were "sold out" . Keep in mind the park was not in the slightest bit packed and that I called the morning of to find out information before I drove 1 HOUR to there and they completely failed to mention that i should buy the tickets ahead of time. Also, once I asked to speak with the manager he was very rude and nasty about the whole situation. I have been snowboarding for 10+ years and I have never experienced such terrible customer service at a resort before. I will not be going back. read more

This ain't no vail or aspen slopes... neither is it any close to 7 Springs. But for less than one third of the 7 spring cost and only about half hour drive from Pittsburgh vicinity - this place is a winter Wonderland especially for beginners. The park has a ski lodge along with a small cafeteria and obviously an equipment rental area as well. If you're not into skiing or snowboarding, they do have a pretty large separate tubing area as well. As for the skiers and snowboarders - there's a decent sized beginners area which can be accessed through the magic carpet. And for the seasoned riders - there's the Adam's run. The only lift in the park will take you to the top. But once you're at the top - there's 4 (from what I can recall) different trails to get down. One of the trails also has numerous snowboarding ramps for those interested in working on their snowboarding skills and tricks. I would definitely recommend for anyone ... beginners and seasoned riders alike to give this place a chance. But if you're just learning how to ski or snowboard - look no further or should I say drive no further and definitely spend no further. read more

Boyce is a large regional park, owned and operated by the Allegheny County Parks Department. It was the first of the regional parks to be dedicated, in 1963. and named after William D. Boyce, the founder of the Boy Scouts. I went here this past weekend with my cousin Cindy 'cos I hadn't seen her in awhile and we felt like getting a little hiking done. So we strapped on our hiking shoes and enjoyed the several miles of trails throughout the park. Boyce Park doesn't have as extensive a trail system as South Park does, and it's probably got less than Frick Park, which is in my neighborhood. But it does have a lot of recreational activities available. It has tennis courts, baseball fields, a wave pool, an archery range, and a model airplane field. For you winter sports lovers, it has downhill tubing and the only downhill skiing facility in the County Park system. It even has a ski lodge, which I believe can be rented out. The park also has a lot of other activities too. There's a nature center, an activity center, and a log house which is under restoration. The County Parks also have an outdoor film festival at each park every summer. So my cousin and I had a nice day hiking the trails. We brown bagged our lunches, brought snacks and water along, and had a wonderful time. read more

This review is more for the MTB at Boyce Park which is awesome! I like the park in general and strongly recommend it for a good city getaway day without having to go to far (it's right by Monroeville). Anyway I love MYB at BP. I would call classify it as being mainly fast single track with some moderately technical elements. I usually start at the soccer field and ride up the road (paved) until I get to the "Outer Loop" sign. I take this to the left all the way to the log cabin, cut across the road and back to the soccer field. Whole loop take me about an hour. There are little offshoots in the trails which can extend your biking experience depending on how you choose to go. FYI- It's easy to get lost or turned around in the trails so best to go with a knowledgeable person your first time. read more

The management at Boyce park failed me today. As a brand new skier I was thrilled to have been able to ski at such a fine establishment but boy, was I mistaken. After driving an hour and a half to get to the park with my instructor, the staff rudely informed us that the ski lift tickets were sold out and we had to buy tickets online ahead of time! This was not advertised on any website that we had to buy ahead of time and came as an extreme inconvenience to me. Not only this, but after being informed of the lack of tickets, I tried to ask the employees if there was anyway we could purchase tickets, as there was a stack of tickets in front of my face, they proceeded to tell me that we could not purchase them and had to proceed to drive another hour away to ski at seven springs. After walking away, I was even more disappointed to find that the young ladies behind the counter were laughing and mocking my encounter with them. They proceeded to call me a "Karen" and even called me a "B*tch"! I am so upset and I am even scared I have suffered so much emotional trauma that I will never be able to ski again. Boyce park, I'm done with you, and am infuritaed with my experience. read more

Skiing so close to home, and a fraction of the cost of the area resorts. It's not fancy, but the lifts are efficient, and rates can't be beat. Boyce is definitely the best place to teach a beginner. My 5 year old grandson wanted to ski. I found group lessons at 7 springs to be worthless. Lots of time waiting for his turn to ski down a tiny 4 Foot bump. Next try was Hidden Valley private lessons . Private Lessons are quite expensive at $160 but he did learn the basics and the young girl teacher quite good. ( girl instructors are best for little boys) . Boyce turned out to be the perfect place. The private lessons were only $30 and Susan was a wonderful teacher. The slopes were also the perfect gradient for a little boy. By the end of the day I was hearing "follow me Pap Pap " and didn't even need to help him on or off the lift carpet. They have a small eatery here with surprisingly good lunch type food . read more

The pool its self is fantastic! We have a pass to Sand Castle but don't always want to drive there. The management however is lacking. He has a major God complex with zero customer service skills. This is a yearly notation not just a bad day. The life guards don't really seem to be all that aware of their surroundings except that of one another. The waves come on at Sand Castle and they are up and scanning, not here. Still despite these two complaints it's not bad for a few hours in the water. read more

This review is going to be regarding the wavepool. I am a regular at this particular body of water. The wavepool has nostalgic charm! Snack bar has a good selection of food but we are missing out on "Sour-Wowers" and Spongebob ice cream bars. The waves were eerily even and uniform, but enjoyable to play in. Had fun running children over with my inner tube. I also humored myself by laying on the bottom of the pool and slowly surfacing. It was interesting to pretend to drown in the water- one of my favorite pastimes- and this pool was a fascinating location to indulge in that. However, this place does have its faults. Speaking of the inter tubes (which you can rent for $5), mine had messages on it that I really could not translate, even with my extensive knowledge of English, Spanish, French, and Simlish. The fake grass that you "sit" on was less realistic than usual. Also, a woman approached me while I was swimming, called me fat, and then threw my phone underwater. Now my phone refuses to turn on, no matter how much I yell at it to wake up. While I was swimming in the water it seemed like the water's pattern seemed to form faces which forced me to look away. In the changing room there was a bubbly child laughter that was audible while I was using the facilities but there were simply no children in sight. Might want to fix that. The lifeguards were charming but there was one that swam in the water that resembled a security guard. They had a face strikingly similar to my great aunt's. If you want a surreal experience, I recommend this park's wavepool. The aura of the pool is something you cannot find anywhere else. read more
