Such a cool park, colorful (true to its name) with permissioned graffiti and literal street art on the rail trail right before the Highline and along the river. It got its start with a relationship between Baron Batch, artist and former Pittsburgh Steeler and Friends of the Riverfront timed after Batch got into some trouble for freelancing graffiti along the rail trails without permission. Now we have this wonderful park that has his signature markings along with so many others adding their mark and creating joy along our path as we are walking, running, or biking.

Looking for a colorful spot that's off the beaten path? Well you've found the right place as this park has totally what's good in every way as it's more or less a locals spot as you kinda have to look for it if you don't already know where it is. Coming here was a bit tricky at first as the address on Yelp is for one of the businesses in front of it so I was like why am I going to this warehouse? But after a pass through the back of it I noticed a area on the other side of the train tracks that looked colorful so over there I went parked my car and started walking! There was all kinds of colorful artwork here along with an amazing view of the river the city and some of those ever Soo pretty bridges that go across the water! There were a few benches here to relax on as well as plenty of places to park your car as the the pathway goes right through the park alongside the river for all to venture on. Being I was alone walking here and it was getting dark I didn't venture to far down the path as no woman should be walking alone at night in dimly lit areas. Overall this was a super cool spot to hangout for a bit and watch the sunset this definitely was one of my favorite spots I found here in Pittsburgh it's with that I totally hope to make it back here again at some point!

We have gone to color park 2 weekends in a row now. It's such a cool spot with loads of graffiti art (also a bike path so be careful). This would be a great spot for senior pics! I kinda wish there weren't so many crudely drawn male private parts but beyond that, it's a neat spot to see.

The Color Park is part of Three Rivers Heritage Trail on the South Side. This is absolutely one of those hidden city gems that shouldn't be missed out on. A spray paint park turning ruin into art and beauty. It's Pittsburgh's mini version of the Hope Outdoor Gallery in ATX. Great river and city views as well as fun, lively and wonderful artwork.

It is a neat spot, but there wasn't a lot of great art. I've been to similar areas in other cities and this one didn't stack up, at least on our visit. It would have been nice to see more established artist in the main park and then encourage newer artists to paint the pathway/blocks leading up to the park or the adjacent lot. I think it would make for a bigger draw. The park is a great idea though and it is an awesome place to learn. It may also be different on your visit, as it is ever changing.

I was fortunate and privileged to grow up with Frick as my backyard and walked all over the place before graduating to riding mountain bikes on the trails when the sport was in its infancy. Later, I ran high school cross-country races in Schenley and trained in Frick Park. Nowadays, we enjoy the flowers, wildlife, and groomed and maintained trails. I never appreciated how unique, rare, and amazing the parks are until I moved away and it's so great to see them treated as the unique assets they truly are.

I keep coming back and exploring different paths, only to realize there's always more to discover. It's one of those places where you can return again and again and still find something new, which makes it feel really special to me. The way the trails connect is one of my favorite things. Nine Mile Run flows into Deer Creek, which then connects into Tranquil Trail, creating an easy, continuous experience through the park. And thats just one corner of the park. While bathrooms are not abundant, you will occasionally find a porta potty, and there is often trash cans and benches toward the entrances and parking lots of the trail as well. Overall it's just a wonderful place to spend a sunny afternoon, and I really hope spaces like this continue to be preserved as an important part of Pittsburgh's identity and history.

Absolutely incredible…read more I don't go to botanical gardens much so I don't really have qualifications to compare or rate any particular place but Phipps blew me away. I like plants. I have some. I thought seeing a bunch of plants might be fun but I wasn't expecting it to be such a wonderful experience! The place is quite large considering most of it is inside. It is organized for a few different environments and a little something for everyone depending on what your floral preferences might be. It took us about an hour and a half to go through the whole thing. Got a lot of pictures. Saw a lot of interesting and cool plants as well as beautiful flowers. Highly recommend this as a stop on any and every Pittsburgh trip.
