I give them ZERO STARS. I'm appalled, shocked, and disgusted at the extremely unprofessional and discourteous business practices of Boyd Anderson. The school systems have been fooled and apparently have a contract of some sort or some kind of business arrangement to allow Boyd Anderson into the East county schools. I placed a very small order on Aug 19, 2017 for one photo. My cc was charged $23, got an email for that. Also got an auto generated email for the order. Two weeks went by and no calls or emails that my picture was ready. In the two weeks since, I have made more than half dozen phone calls and left as many messages and yet still the appropriate workers have not returned any of my calls...not one single message was met with a response of any kind. I was patient through the fir 3 messages I left but when they went ignored I can no longer remain patient or understanding. On 9/20-21 I sent an email with both original emails attached and demanding a refund by cob 9/22/2017. I also stated all of my disappointment in that email. Sure call me impatient, but as of 5:30pm 9/21/2017, I phoned and was told everyone associated with that department left at 3pm. I certainly would have expected a professional and immediate response to such an email from a very upset customer. So now I'm reaching out and sharing my story through social media. In todays world this is the best way we have of helping others take caution with all whom they do business. I'm not pi$$ed over freaking $23. I'm absolutely disgusted that any business would ignore even one customer. Excuses of why not are never to be discussed with a customer - only results! After-all you chose to take advantage of capitalism and run a business. Consumers have the option to take advantage of social media to make or break said businesses. Unsure if this studio has anything to do with the one in Grossmont Mall or not. Since I couldn't find them as a business on yelp, I am posting this review here. One would think since the SR's are forced to have to get photos taken here that they would have things better organized. They triple plus book people and are super super slow. It's as if this place is a Jcpennys photo store. Please for the love of everything and for the future students, stop forcing us to use this bogus company. We waited over an HR past or scheduled time. Ugh. They did my son's senior photos a few years back. The pix were awful, getting an appointment was a nightmare, and he had to drive all the way to Santee a crappy photo in order to be in the yearbook. They're back in our school system. Two years in a row my younger kids' photos have been horrible. Their faces look sunburned and orange. It's bad enough that they do such an awful job with the elementary and middle school aged kids, but there's no excuse for awful senior portraits. They should be tripping over themselves to make seniors and their parents happy, but they could care less. They'll never get my money. read more

Ok I was on the fence about this business because I was not too happy with the photographer etc., but my opinion was turned around after dealing with Brianna. Brianna is great for this business because she knows how to provide excellent customer service and really cares about the customer. She assisted me with an inquiry re: ordering pictures and the process etc., My daughter's senior pictures did come out great overall (despite my dissatisfaction with the photographer's attitude) and Brianna won me over and now I will consider allowing my daughter to take other pictures here. The 5 stars is primarily because of Brianna. The picture quality I give 3.5 stars. The price I give 2 stars. FYI the location is near Target and in between Target and Sees Candies so you'd want to park over there for fastest access (only mentioning it because I was lost before) read more

Zero stars!!! Rediculous! Covid or no covid, it takes no special equipment or covid precautions to reply to and email or make a phone call. I want my daughter's senior portraits. I paid a rediculous amount of almost $450 for a few portraits because it was the ONLY positive/traditional momento she would get from her senior year. After waiting a reasonable 2 months for the order to be delivered, I inquired and was told the photos were at the printer and would arrive in 2 weeks or less. That was 3 months ago! I am so frustrated and upset with this business. I purchased senior pictures for my son in October and I still have not received them. I also have not been able to get anyone to call me back or respond to my emails (around 25 combined). I began calling and emailing in early May when we were getting the grad announcements ready and I realized we still didn't have our pictures. One particular email sent on May 17th is especially frustrating because I have recently discovered that emails were sent out to other senior parents at our school for May 20th pick ups. We never received any email about pick ups. The only email we received from them in the past 3 months was the one they sent saying they were closed due to Covid on March 20th. Not only did we not get to send our son's senior pictures in the graduation announcement, we also did not get to send it to his grandparents in Colorado. This was especially frustrating because we knew his grandfather's cancer was getting worse, quickly. I called and emailed multiple times, hoping to be able to get the pictures sent out, but NO ONE would respond. When my father-in-law eventually passed, I again tried to get a hold of someone so we could at least take them back to my mother in law but again, NO ONE would respond. To this day, I have not received my son's senior pictures. School is out, summer has begun, and Boyd Anderson is still taking pictures and orders and NOT responding to my pleas. They are NOT closed down because of Covid, I have several parents who have told me they were contacted by this company and have picked up their pictures. What is wrong with these people?!?! They have no heart, no integrity, and no business being in this business. Don't waste you money with this company! read more

Unfortunately when it comes to ordering my daughters school pictures I have no options as far as the photographer. Normally they aren't that great either, but this years were. So based on the proof (small pic with lettering across it) she brought home I filled out the paperwork and enclosed my check. Two months went by with no pictures mailed to my home as promised per paperwork. I sent an email to their customer service email address, with a copy of both sides of my check that they endorsed and cashed several months ago, and the info they would need to find my order- asking when I might be receiving the pictures. No one responded. I then waited a few weeks sent again with no reply. So Im out the money and have none of the pictures of my daughter that came out nice. read more

I wish yelp would change it so that you didn't have to give any stars. In my son's photos the first time, his hair was screwed up. I asked for another sitting, and they told me that they would do it free of charge. Out of the photos we received, two were what I liked, and my son liked one. They had said that we only had a certain amount of time to pick, or they would have to pick for us, because of the school's deadline. We picked, I called and left a message, and also followed up with an email. No response to either one, but I thought I had done everything that needed to be done. We hadn't bought any because I had been out of work. They sent an email with all of his high school photos in one, and the one showing for his senior year was not the one picked. I called and was told that because I hadn't contacted them, they had given what they thought would be acceptable to the school. This was MONTHS after I had already phoned and emailed our choice. They told me that I had to contact the school, and that they couldn't do it at this point. They offered me a discount on retouching. That was it. I had an appointment to order photos, and cancelled it. Every time I think about it, I get mad. We did not order anything from them. They lost out on a $300+ order because they couldn't be bothered to listen to their voicemail or answer an email. I will never forgive them. read more

Ordered pictures for my sons graduation. I was told the 8x10 picture included a frame. I was also told pictures would be available in a couple weeks. Pictures were delayed several weeks and when picking up photos I was lied to and told frame was not included with 8x10 photo. Overall, pictures came out nice and family approved of photos. I have used Boyd the last 2 years for Graduation pictures. I am very happy with their work and recently I ordered Graduation invites. Gene was amazing and very helpful! She was able to get them to me in 2 days, I was amazed! You will definitely be in great hands in this studio. The location is a but hard to find, it's located in an industrial park, specifically in a building complex called "Airport Plaza". I was a few minutes late to my appointment because of the odd location, but the staff was incredibly kind about it. They had a little hair and makeup fixing station where you could prepare for your photos, which was a clever addition. And to top it all off the photographers are so friendly! read more

My kids just switched schools who uses Boyd Anderson and I am very happy with how quickly I received the pictures, which came along with the class pictures. The last school they were at used some other photographers, who I had to hassle to get the class pictures from, and often didn't't get them until several months later (which happened a few years in a row). It was SO frustrating. So, I'm very happy with how quickly Boyd Anderson has gotten these pictures to me........all together. read more

A shaggy-haired man called me up to be my photographer when I was waiting for my senior portraits, and asked me to double check my hair and makeup. As seemly like I needed to fix something even though he stated I looked nice but it was not convincing. Then he asked me in the middle of my photos if I had a really bad b*tch face. I know I am a senior but I definitely know that is NOT professional. I made this account just to explain how UNHAPPY I am with this terrible service. I just got my senior pictures back. I don't know about the other photographers, but the guy I had (heavy-set, gray hair and beard) was so rude. He was angry that I was two minutes late (yes... two minutes). Then during the session, he told me to "suck it in" for certain pictures, made nasty comments about my feet, and told me to cover up my knees for some pictures (because I have scars on them). He was impatient, didn't know how to pose me, and my pictures look awful because he was so terrible. I don't know about the other photographers, but this guy is the worst. I'll probably have them redone by a friend that I actually trust to take good pictures. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Coronado school district uses them for photos. Last year it took them 10 weeks to finally send me the CD I ordered of the pictures. They didn't even have to print them! This year I ordered again with the confirmation email stating 4-5 weeks before they would be ready....WHAT?!?! Ok, well 5 weeks went by and still nothing in my mail box. I emailed customer service on November 4th, 2 weeks ago. Still no response. Called today and left a voicemail, I'm sure I'll never hear back regarding my order in other reviews are accurate. I will be telling the school about this experience. This is ridiculous! read more

Simply the worse I have seen and the worst customer service imaginable and to top it off overpriced. Unfortunately this is the company that was chosen by my daughters preschool. All the pictures are horrid but being they were my daughters first school pictures ever I decided to buy them. I called 3 times and left voice mail but never once did I get a phone call back. I just wanted to buy all 4 pictures on a CD, the only option is that I pay $36 per picture to be put on a CD each, that would be $144 FOR HORRIBLE pictures! That is simply ridiculous! I called more than 8 times until I finally got a horrible lady on the line that was VERY rude and not helpful at all. Wouldn't listed and wouldn't even bother to try to help. I will never buy anything from this company again. They take advantage as they are taking pictures of our most beloved and they don't care they just want money! Very very Sad! Denise was rude and got attitude with me when I stated all that went wrong. They do not care. I did not ask for compensation for my troubles and they never offered. They charge a small fortune for senior pics and know they can because parents HAVE to go there or their kid doesn't get into the year book. They do not make it convenient to schedule an appointment then don't deliver the product you pay for in a reasonable amount of time. Customer service is insulting! I called after ordering 1 image...yes 1 image on a cd over a month ago and it still isn't ready!! REALLY???? 1 image??? $150 for 1 image and I can't get it within a month??? If you can't handle the business DON'T DO IT!!! There are so many places that take just as good photos don't try to gouge you and get them to you in a reasonable time. They're usually the official photographers for school pictures (at least in Challenger Middle School). The quality of their pictures are the worst. The photo quality that I get from my old phone is much better than their photos. My child's photo was so dark, you cannot recognize the face, the lighting was so poor. They print the Id cards right after the photos are taken and they don't even consider of improving the quality. The price is so expensive for a 0.50 cent worth of quality. The color was so off, their faces look burnt. I don't know why they are hired by schools when they cannot even take decent photos. The worst is, these photos are used in yearbook. Please have some good photographer when you go to school, a nice lighting (there's $25 bucks flash in amazon, or at least have those old umbrellas in your backyard f u can't afford one and a good id printer, I bet you can find cheap ones.) Please make those photos good because they're ones the kids will look into when they get old. read more
