I had a great experience with Sophie and a fun time at the photo sessions for my maternity and newborn. I was actually super nervous for the photo shoot because I'm not much of a picture person, but we decided to capture those special moments for our family and decided to go with Sophie for several reasons. She's prompt in her responses and her packages are reasonable based on my research from the San Diego area. (She was oversea, on her vacation when I reached out to her.) There was a deal on the newborn session if combine with maternity. She gave me some location options to do outdoor maternity sessions, and I really enjoyed the sunset at Windansea Beach. This could have been something special. After planning for almost 7 months in advance and discussing with her each and every detail, she messed up at the last moment by changing the location. I didn't like the pictures and the whole experience was ruined. All the planning went down the drain. I wasted my time and effort and all the preparations I'd done for my daughters special day. I am posting a picture from my daughters cake smash. I specially requested garden theme or somewhere around flowers. I don't understand why she changed the location at the last minute and didn't inform me it was a hiking trail. In my mind I was assuming it will be some park etc The place was not suitable for a birthday cake smash. I've had many outdoor pictures before and Sophie had taken some good ones before I don't know what happened this time. TL;DR Sophie's prices are highway robbery for a studio session and very very high (but possibly worth it for a newborn session). The building where her studio is is absolutely disgusting. There's no area to clean up baby after a cake smash. No towels, only a s small cold water sink. So unprofessional. She has terrible customer service. Options for cake smash accessories and backdrops are extremely limited. I'm not sure why she offers cake smashes because it truly felt like her first time. (I found out later it's because her head was in the clouds planning a wedding that was to take place 3 days later). You'll be force to pick from raw unedited images and pay for them right there on the spot WITHOUT SEEING HOW THEY'LL TURN OUT. if you're not happy, well, buyer beware. You will spending upwards of $1,000 and if you have a bad experience like we did, you're SOL and up the creek $1,000. Guys, I paid OVER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR THIS PHOTO. She will do nothing to remedy the situation. Save your money people. She ain't worth it. She did our newborn photos a year early but since then her prices doubled and her level of service seriously plummeted. It breaks my heart ready about how many other people had a much better experience. I'm happy for them but sad for my son and his one year cake smash experience. It felt like I was torturing the poor child with how poorly she made the experience. Longer version. I am so irate I can't even keep my thoughts straight. We had a horrible experience doing a 1 year cake smash with Sophie. The studio experience was awful. The building was disgusting. Trash and dead bees everywhere. After the session, no where to clean off a cake smashed baby other than a tiny cold water sink! No towels!! No warm water!! No dedicated space. Seriously, you offer cake smash photos with NO way of cleaning up the baby. Then we were put on the spot to immediately look at and pick raw, unedited photos, right there while I have a cold, wet and crying baby (remember, no where to clean up a cake smashed baby). I had to make quick decisions on raw, unedited photos that I had to pay an obscene amount of money for right then and there without seeing how anything was going to turn out!! I dropped $1,000 right there completely blind. BAD IDEA. Oh how I wish I trusted my gut and just walked away. Oh, and her internet wasn't working so we were there for about three hours trying to look through RAW AND UNEDITED PHOTOS WITH MY CRYING WET COLD AND NOW TIRED BABY. Are you familiar with Sophie's newborn work and prices?? If you KNOW you can't deliver the product, don't accept the job!!! She made poor excuse after excuse. It was the managers fault. She was busy planning a wedding that was to take place three days later that she failed to mention. So her mind was clearly elsewhere during the shoot and subsequent clusterf#%^ of looking through photos. So that's just the studio experience. It took a month to get our photos. Fast forward a month. What in the world. So having to pick raw unedited photos on the spot, I was put under pressure there. I picked photos I wouldn't have picked if I saw them again edited. While selecting the raw unedited photos, I noticed the cake smash background sucked but I was like ok, these are raw unedited photos so I'll try to use my imagination. I'm gonna give her the benefit of doubt and fork over all my money now WITHOUT SEEING ANYTHING. BIG MISTAKE. People, do.not.pay. without seeing the final product!! Photos show up and w.t.ffffffff they are hideous. Please, tell me how this gross wire, weird fake leaves, three balloons, and stark white background look anything like the work she's capable of delivering. If you look through other cake smash and studio sessions she's done, you'll see my sons photos don't even fit in. I would've thought it was a completely different photographer. I showed her the cloth diaper that I wanted the color scheme to be based off of. No where near the "jewel" vibes I wanted. Look at Elliot's photos, then look at cake smashes she's don't afterwards. The purple one she actually did before. I asked for a partial refund because I was literally in tears over these photos, and she said sorry not refundable. Whyyyy, oh whyyyy did I agree to pay for something sight unseen!!! She charges a session fee and charges for the photos before you get to see anything! Total bait and switch. I should have only agreed to pay the session fee and then only pay for the photos afterwards! I wouldn't have bought them! Now she refuses to issue a partial refund for the crappy photos. She offered a make up session. No, thank you. A one year cake smash is a special milestone. How can you make up for that? read more

The price is worth it! I feel that you can never put a price on your child's newborn pictures because your child is only a newborn once! I loved Sophie's creativity, editing style and newborn poses which is why I chose Sophie Crew over other photographers. I researched MANY photographers to find the best one, and I have no doubt I made the right decision. My son was very fussy during our shoot but Sophie remained professional, caring and proved she had an enormous amount of patience. She pre-selects the props and outfits before the shoot so when you get there it's all ready. She is a perfectionist and took time to look at my son and perfectly pose him. Even a cricked finger I would notice to myself, Sophie was already on it and fixing it during the shoot. The location of her studio is really easy to find and there is plenty of parking. When we arrived outside the studio she had a cute chalkboard welcome sign with our son's name. When we got inside she greeted us and offered us a snack and beverage. The studio was nicely heated so baby would be comfortable while shooting in the environment. She has a variety of props, outfits, and backdrops. It's nice that she allowed us to share some behind the scenes on social media for our friends and family because some of them are out of state. She is super patient and took her time with our son because he was fully awake the whole time we were shooting. The turn around time for viewing was really quick, it took a week for her to edit and let us choose the photos and package to purchase. I would highly recommend her especially if you are thinking about having a session done for your newborn. read more
