This is the 10th year in we have went to Boyd's Farm and now we will never go back. So unhappy with the quality of the service and trees this year. Most of the trees were overpriced and already looked to be dying. It was difficult to find one that "might" work. We spent $200+ on a tree I am only 50% sure will make it to Christmas but we had driven 2 hours to this as is our tradition. There was no one to help guide us like there usually is. We had purchased their stand the first year we were there so we always have to make sure our tree is drilled for the stand. But we got all the way home without it being drilled. And this was after we were asked if we needed it drilled and we said yes, we have your stand. Now I have to go out and buy another stand. If you are going to overprice your trees then you should at least make sure the service and the quality are worth it. Won't go back. read more

My family and I have been going to Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm for about ten years. The first few years everything was amazing. We were able to buy a 8-9 foot tree for a reasonable price. As you would wait for your tree to be baled you could go into the holiday tent and enjoy free apple cider, hot chocolate, cookies and the kids had coloring activities. Over the years the prices for a tree have gone up substantially. Last year our tree cost about $195. It lost a lot of the needles before Christmas. This year we saw a tree with the height we normally got (8-9') and the cost was $439! The trees were expensive and some had noticeable bare limbs. Needless to say, I no longer recommend Boyd's Tree Farm for quality trees at decent prices. read more

Normally we always get our Christmas tree in VA but this year our son, who lives in Sylva, couldn't make it to VA so we decided to get our tree near him. Big mistake. This place has lots of trees but you're only allowed to pick the ones with tags which is only about a third of what they have. That made finding a tree a little difficult but the biggest shocker was the price of these trees. We paid $240 for an 8 to 9 foot tree! My brother bought a tree at the tree farm we normally go to in VA the day before and he $85 for an 8 to 9 foot Fraser Fir tree. So lesson learned. Update: 20 days later and the $240 tree stopped drinking water 3 days ago. Also the ornaments keep falling off because they trimmed it too close. Go somewhere else folks! read more

We went again this year to Boyd's Christmas Tree Farm. We cut down a tree that did not have a tag. We learned later that only trees with tags are available for purchase. The staff was so kind to us despite our mistake! Thank you for your graciousness. We'll see you all next year! read more

Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm has a great selection of Fraser Firs growing on their beautiful farm. The trees we saw ranged in size from 5' to 14'. They may have larger than 14' but I would check with them before making the drive. After wandering around and finding your perfect tree you can either cut it down with one of their bowsaws or a worker will cut it for you. There are several marked "Not for Sale" and this is presumably part of the farming process. The trees you can choose from are marked with a tag with the size and the price. The farm is beautiful and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The parking was easy and they had employees in the lots directing you where to go. They sell trees, wreaths, swags, and other tree related items (stands and watering devices, etc) as well as some craft items in a cozy tent. They also had complimentary hot chocolate, hot cider, cookies, pretzels, a few tables and chairs and books for the kids. They take credit cards and they have three Port A Potties in one of the parking lots. We went on the Sunday after Thanksgiving and Santa and Mrs.Claus made an appearance! There was no line and our kids had a chance to talk to Santa and tell him what they wanted without being rushed out of the way. The process to pick up your cut tree is that you wait in line in your car for the station where they prep and bale your tree. They have twine and will tie your wrapped tree on your car for you at the station. We did not have any issues with this process or line like the previous reviewer did. You do have to wait in line for your turn but they had an army of employees that were working hard to keep the line moving and we waited about 10 minutes for our turn. We found it to be efficient and friendly and it was great not to have to haul our tree to our car ourselves or struggle to tie it on. We let our kids stay out of the car while we waited for our turn which made it more relaxing for everyone. Remember to wear the right shoes! We forgot our boots and regretted it in the recent rains. We came here last year and had a great experience, this time around they were sold out of trees to cut so we went to their remote location and no one was wearing a mask and they were very curt and unfriendly. The trees are beautiful but their disregard for state mandated masks and public health is really disappointing and we won't be spending our money with them next year read more

Been here a couple of times and never again. Had a misunderstanding over $200 and the office told me to speak with the owner. Knocked on his cabin door and he proceeds to cuss me out. He turned defensive and nasty within seconds. This should NEVER happen! Fix your website to explain your crazy pricing and have old man Boyd take some customer service classes. This was a minor issue but his reaction ruined my stay. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else!!!!! read more

SO overpriced!! My family and I were looking to buy a Christmas tree and although the atmosphere of the entire place was nice, it's not worth the price. A beautiful seven foot tree is going to run you about 250 dollars. It's ridiculous to charge that much for a tree and honestly the owners should be ashamed to even charge that much in the first place. I would be fine if it was a little overpriced but more than 200 dollars is a stretch. Not worth it. read more

Great quite place to stay. Beautifull cabins, made with old log cabins... made some great fires in the fireplace. Everything worked and was of good quality. Really nice place to come back to after a day of exploring. Our car broke down and they were very curtious by letting us stay two more nights against a reduced price. Boyd's cabins are a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lynn is their contact person who is a pleasure to deal with. We have been going to Boyd's cabins for some time now and have always thoroughly enjoyed the peace & quiet of being in the trees. We recently went to Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm to get our tree. It was a lovely day, with a little snow on the ground. The girl who greeted us was sweet, the Hispanic men who cut and bundled the tree were nice, payment was easy, cider and hot chocolate was yummy, and Santa and Mrs. Claus were great! HOWEVER, the system to get your car, get in a long line of cars to claim your tree and tie to the roof was AWFUL! It took 55 minutes in line! Now, granted it was Black Friday. However, there should be two lanes, with more workers. By the time you get to your tree, all feelings of goodwill were gone! My husband mentioned this to the gentleman who was getting our tree, and said it needed improvement, or we'll never come back. Now, one would assume that he would say something like, "I'm so sorry. You picked a bad day to come. Try to come during the week, or early/late", etc. NO. His answer? "That's alright. We don't need your business!" OK, then, there are certainly plenty of tree farms in North Carolina to choose from! RUDE! Be aware there are at least two more tree farms just a little bit up the road. Search on Google.
