It was $20 to purchase a 1 peck bag to fill on our own. I believe you can have up to 5 people per bag but today it was just me and my kids. What stood out about this orchard is that 99% of the apples I picked from the tree were perfect! Very very few apples with blemishes, damages, holes etc. there were also very few apples littering the ground so we didn't have to worry about too many bees or bugs around us like we have had to do at other places. The apples taste fantastic! The playground was a hit with my 2 and 4 year old. Big shout out for having a huge tunnel that the kids can run there instead of crawl! Delicious bites include apple cider donuts, apple cider slushes, and ice cream. All were 10/10. Worth the 2 hour drive for us.

Outside, they had vendors setup for a market. The market was adorable and all vendors were so kind. Inside, Grandad's Apples had wonderful snacks, merchandise, and activities. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, and they assisted us in identifying a few of our finds. They also had a shop with a large selection of crystals, rocks, jewelry, megalodon teeth, and more. It seemed reasonably priced based on other rock and crystal shops I've been in. We spent probably another 45 minutes at least looking at all the items. The attached ice cream shop has a bunch of different flavors and they also sell drinks and little candies. We got rocky road flavor and orange blossom flavor and both were excellent! Overall, we had so much fun and we are definitely planning on coming back and we have already told friends about it!

While there, we also did flower pounding to make a beautiful card and envelope (see photos). There was a covered area with tables where we were able to sit, eat snacks, and chat. I also noticed a fire-pit and I'd like to bring my grandkids, let them pick flowers, and then spend time relaxing with a picnic lunch or dinner and roast some marshmallows over the fire. The way it works is you scan the QR code, pick up a cup, fill with water, and grab cutters. You can walk up and down the aisles that have various flowers blooming and pick any you like. If you don't have time to pick, there is a grab and go bouquet in the stand. They are open dawn to dusk April - October. I attended a Christmas in July party this past weekend and we were asked to bring a gift from a local vendor. I brought a gift certificate. The person who opened it didn't want to tell anyone what it was for fear it would be stolen! She wanted it for herself. Families were enjoying the farm, kids were playing, and there were several swings overlooking the river that made for a beautiful place to sit and unwind. The farm offers a great variety of fresh produce, and the strawberry picking was a huge hit with our kids. Their favorite part was being able to snack on strawberries while picking them--an experience they won't forget! We also purchased some boiled peanuts, which were hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. But the real star of the visit was the ice cream. It was hands-down the best part of our day and so good that we're already planning to stop by again before heading back home. Friendly staff, beautiful scenery, great products, and fun for the whole family. We highly recommend Darnell's Farm to anyone visiting the area. 100% recommended!

The prices are very fair and Mr. H. and co. are always, always friendly. If you go early in the season proper you can get cider and cookies in the red barn at the farm. You can also rent the cabin on the property. You can't miss it. It is rustic and charming. I mean the cabin, but the whole farm has an aura of warmth and secret places among the trees. Make sure you call first, as the trees go fast. The farm is easy to find- the road will curve twice, you go slightly uphill, and bam. You're there, ready to later beg for yet more Target ornaments and to begin a new memory of cheer and goodwill.
