IGNORANT RUDE STAFF. When he literally did the same swim/jump when he was 1 year younger here safely many times AND as parents we were watching and more than ok with him doing it, there is no reason for them to ruin his day and keep him from hanging out with his brothers and cousin. The staff here are INCOMPETENT and IGNORANT, including the snarky manager Julia!!! Just BE WARNED that they can single a child out arbitrarily and pass/fail them on a whim from teenage staff even after you pay and ruin your child's day! Since your response was spin and avoided all FACTS!!! Here are some questions that you IGNORED... Mt. Gretna Lake and Beach why was my son "safe" to multiple lifeguards a year prior who allowed him to go past the rope many times and do the jump? (I have video evidence) Were they not doing their job??? Why was my son the only child targets by the lifeguards and made to do the test? There were many children that day his size or smaller. That included a boy who was terrified to jump and paced the dive for nearly 10min holding on for dear life. More importantly, the boy could not swim at all and his parents had to bring him a tube to drag him back. My son swam unassisted last year and on Sunday. Not a single lifeguard whistled or said a thing to the terrified boy and his parents and they even allowed him to go past the rope after that whole incident. I also have video footage of this. What do you have to say about this incident that went on for 10min and was obvious to anyone there that day? Your staff is incompetent, unprofessional, and unreasonable. You targeted my family and let other major safety concerns slide. I was/am furious and will spread her word. Good thing everything on here in FACT and I can prove with videos unlike your biased spin! They have no common courtesy, nor do they have any sense for rules of boating. They seem to roam in packs and have no consideration for other than themselves! The other issue is the location of handicapped parking. The only parking place is designated for handicapped parking are located quite a distance from the docking area, and it makes it hard to get close without being dropped off and then going back to get the car later. There are however, handicap spaces marked for trucks or cars with trailers, which are located very close to the docking area, but none designated for just vehicles with handicapped placards.

Anyway I had a fabulous time. Read on for more por favor. My commentary is about the HIKING - nothing more nothing less. We had a tri-chapter meetup with my peeps from Body Liberation Outdoor Club - Northern NJ, Hudson Valley, and Eastern PA. Btdubs, if you're looking to enjoy the outdoors in an affirming space, holler at me. Anyway, we met at the Christman, Falls, and Cove Ridge trailhead and hiked a substantial loop to the falls, the Pohopoco river(?), and in and out of the woods. It was fantastic! Some nice elevation, soft packed trails, not too much mud, leafy forest bed, and as is common on the east coast - some roots and rocks to make sure you're paying attention. 5 miles of glorious spring sunshine and whispering trees. Couldn't ask for more! You Should Know: -parking at this trailhead is safe - room for about 8 or 9 cars and directly across from houses -this trail is NOT accessible -some parts of the trail sit high above the river - watch your step or else you'll take a devastating tumble to the great beyond -about 3/4 mile grassy walk to the actual trail from the parking area -If you use All Trails app, it was surprisingly accurate IYKYK - no bathrooms anywhere near here - pack in and pack out

We camped at French Creek State Park for Easter weekend (3 nights, 4 days), and overall it was a…read morereally solid trip with one pretty noticeable downside. We stayed in Loop C, where our group has camped for the past few years. The sites themselves are decent some a little tighter than others, but generally well maintained. Each spot has a partial paved pad for the camper, a gravel area with a fire ring, and a picnic table. It's wooded, quiet, and has that classic PA campground feel. There's plenty to do here... hiking trails, a lake for canoeing, disc golf, a playground, and a large pool (closed during our stay but opens Memorial Day weekend). The campground was actually pretty full for Easter weekend, which says a lot about how popular it is. Park rangers are definitely present and take rules seriously (especially bikes without helmets or lights), which is great for safety. But... the bathhouse situation needs attention. For a loop with around 40 sites including tents, campers, yurts, and cabins-- there were only 2 showers and 2 restrooms. On top of that, cleanliness and upkeep just weren't where they should be for a state park. That was honestly the biggest letdown of the trip. We also had some rough weather, but that's camping... you roll with it. Overall, it's a beautiful park with a lot to offer, and we'll likely be back. Just hoping the bathhouse situation gets some upgrades, because that's the one thing holding it back from being a really great campground.
