Buy a small canvas bag ($0.99 at any store--$2.50 at Ace Hardware, which tells you something about their willingness to gouge the customer for the same or poorer quality firewood) to load up with loose wood and cart it back to your car. Want more than one bundle? Either buy more bags or shlep the wood to your car on multiple back and forth trips. ABSOLUTELY GARBAGE BUSINESS MODEL. Lost all my business over that. No thanks, not interested in paying $2.50 for a sh@tty bag that at any other box store is a buck or less. When I called and complained, the manager's excuse? lmao "We can't control the vendors who aren't bundling it anymore." No, but you sure as @!#$ can choose to lower the cost of the bags, or just throw them in for free and charge an extra $1 for the bundle--bag the wood and have it waiting. For $7.50+ tax, I expect the wood to be in the bag and awaiting my payment and trip back to the car--ONE TRIP. NOT three or four shlepping loose wood back and forth. Lost my business, and you deserve to lose all of it. Will be spreading the word across social media to avoid this store like the plague.

(And in fairness, they may not always be able to compete on some items as they have less volume on many things.). The recent expansion was a benefit to the community. That said, those of us who are long time residents remember the original Ace Hardware in the Town and Country shopping center that was the place to shop for just about anything in Kenosha. That store was a local icon. I have a feeling that with the right marketing that kind of store would go over well again in Kenosha. I also wish the store hours were a bit longer. If he didn't remember the name, and there's no paper, the appropriate answer would have been, "No, sorry, we can't help you". And if that was a yes, now they can cut it now that I'm here, but no, the dude wants to go on repeat about not doing it ahead of time. Just like you can't get a key cut without coming in with a key, fine, they won't cut fiberglass until the customer comes in to actually buy it... but did they get the request or didn't they? He is one of these auctioneers that will defraud winning bidders by coming up with any reason not to complete the sale of things you managed to get cheap so he can sell them in response to post auction buyers so he can thus pocketi the deal you thought you were getting by participating in his auction. In my case he refused to complete the sale of four pieces of hi fi equipment that collectively totaled $5,500 but had a retail value many thousands of dollars more. Now I will have to sue him to get the benefit of the bargain I made with him.
