Great employees make the difference…read more Let's face it, almost all of the smaller-sized,convenience store/gas stations are pretty much the same, so why does it matter if you go to this one, or one of the other 4 gas stations within a half mile? Well, for me, what matters most is the staff of the store, and this Shell branded gas/Circle K store has some of the friendliest clerks around. I stop by this station about 4 days a week, and almost alway see Robert weekday mornings. He's a nice guy, always ready with a bad pun and a heartfelt "have a good day" when I leave. During the weekends I am happy to see Jessica - truly a star of a manager, and also a really cool chick. Both of them are really good at their jobs. It takes a certain kind of person to work the long hours needed in this tiny little 24 hour store, and the fact that these two always seem to be in a good mood and smiling is amazing to me. The clean and bright convenience store is very small, but always well stocked with essentials like candy,snacks,coffee/pop/juice & water and smokes.The coffee's always fresh and their 10 self-service pumps usually have some of the lowest priced gas in the east side of Kane county coming out of them. The one small drawback - their public bathroom is a little spooky. It's one of those crappers that are separate from the main building over in the car wash enclosure. Inside, it's on the clean-ish side, but it's really weirdly lit and damp and just not really a good place to be. I'm also not 100% sure it's handicap accessible, so if that's applicable to you, keep that in mind. There's a Wendy's right next door however, and I would suggest going over there if you need to go. Lastly, when exiting this station directly, it's only possible to go south on Kirk, or west on Roosevelt (Rt. 38.) If you want to head north on Kirk, you need to do a little jog back behind the Wendy's to the next road over. Getting out to go east on Roosevelt is done much the same way, it's not impossible it just takes a little local knowledge. It's weird to review a convenience store, I know. But... when the employees are as friendly and efficient as the ones that work here I think it's nice to point that out. These places are always ragged on. I like to give kudos a lot more than I like to drag places down, for the most part at least, haha. If you happen to see Jessica while you're in here, tell her that Paul the motorcycle guy says "hi!"

Also if you sell lottery you should be able to cash out small amounts. You get the benefits of being able to profit off the lottery so you should be able to cash out small amounts no matter what time of day. The closing cashier should not have to tell people that your morning person cashed out and left them with not enough change for the evening. Do better.

Little did I know that my new cars seems to run better and last longer using shell. I also applied for the fuel rewards and what you know it pays in the long run to save 3cents when gas goes up. I find shell gasoline better quality and gives more for performance. Now am a true fan of shell gasoline if I need to use other gasoline my stomach turns upside down because am not being faithful to shell. I had one of the worst experiences at this gas station over the weekend. I purchase gas and…read morerealized that I had bought a car wash by mistake. I decided that maybe I should use it. After waiting a bit in line I decided to just go in and get a refund. That's where the trouble began. I presented my problem to the manager. She said that's not a valid reason to refund my money. After a bit of arguing with her, she just stoped and walked away and refused to talk to me at all! Before this she offered no help at all to fix this or even offer a complaint line. I was shocked as I have never been treated in such a poor way. Thankfully a customer who witnessed the whole thing pointed to a complaint number posted on the window outside. I called the store to complain the next day and had discovered that the lady I was speaking to was the manager! Holy Cow! They had this person with little or no personal skills as a manager. She had no empathy at all! I spoke to a very nice lady, Jesica, more than willing to make things right. She was very apologetic about her managers action. Hopefully the hotline I called will rectify this nasty experience. I hope they can teach her some customer service skills. This could have all been prevented with a simple refund to my card. I have since called my credit card company to watch for this extra charge. This was also a corporate store and I am still waiting to hear back from them. I am sure the other gas station treats their customers better.

I told her that I had a brand new car so that wasn't it. She refused to look into it or help. I asked her for the phone number of the owners and she told me that I could "look it up". Stay a million miles away from a place that takes your money and doesn't give you any gas. Ridiculous!
