I wasn't getting car service...I was attempting to go in the store and buy a couple of things. I got to the store at 6:53 am on Sunday. I realized after I pulled the door handle that they weren't open for another 7 minutes. I walked over to the closed road work directly in front of the store, looking around for possible metal detecting spots. I went back to the door at 7:00 am and the man inside began gesturing and screaming at me to leave. "Get out of here" is what he was yelling at me. I have never been to this store and I could barely see what he looked like from outside the door. I kept thinking he was mistaken me for someone else...but, nope...he proceeded to buzz several other customers into the store, all the while making a huge deal about me being outside wanting to buy something. (I was had taken a bus downtown and there was not ANY other stores nearby) Finally, I gave a super nice young man a $20 to grab me a package of cigarettes, while I waited outside. The cashier refused to sell him cigarettes for me! (I am 58 years old). The kid bought a pack with his own money and gave them to me, refusing to allow me to pay him. What a bright light he was, compared to the miserable, inexcusably RUDE, OBNOXIOUS, cashier at BP!! I did absolutely nothing to warrant the treatment that he gave me, although, by the time I left there I had somewhat sunken to his level. He even threatened to call the police, to which I replied, please do! Utterly horrible cashier at that BP in downtown St Paul. I really wonder if this is the way the owner likes his employees to treat people. read more

My car wouldn't start, and I went here to ask for cables. When the mechanic (Dean or Dennis, I cannot remember his name) came in, he told me to wait because he had to do another car first. I told him my car was on the corner across the street, and the hood will be up. I waited for 30 mins and did not see him cross the street, so I decided to call them and let them know I would figure it out myself. The mechanic proceeds to say, "oh, I never saw your car; THANKS FOR WASTING MY FUCKING TIME." Plus, a bunch of other obscenities. I have gone there before, and anything you ask, they act like it's the most significant inconvenience in the world, even if it's getting your oil changed. read more

Usually the cheapest rates around AND they do a great job! Usually have coupons too to make it even cheaper! Very flexible hours, good availability, & fast service. Drop ins allowed for minor repairs. Unbeatable good customer service- they even came to their parking lot area to change my headlight where I had parked and was in process of getting my baby out of the car. They changed my headlight right there rather than do the repair in the garage so it was easier for me. Told me next time to just pull up to the garage so that I didn't even have to move my baby and they'd do the repair on the spot then watch my vehicle while I paid. I have had good experience with the mechanics at Downtown BP. I've worked with different managers of the mechanics: Dennis, Justin, and most recently Nick. Nick is the best of the managers that I've worked with, with a ready smile and good disposition. However, most important, is what he did to be right by me... I had brought my pickup in for several hundred dollars of repairs. After they completed the work one of the mechanics damaged the body during a test drive; the hood had only been on the first latch and flew open on the highway. Nick made sure that Auto Kingdom made all of the body repairs, having my pickup taken their body shop in a northern suburb. He also provided a loaner for the week I was without my pickup. So, while I was somewhat inconvenienced, Nick worked hard to minimize the inconvenience and get my pickup fully repaired. Kudos, also, to Nick's boss, Scott of the Auto Kingdom chain, who helped make things right. So maybe I should have given only 4 stars, because of the damage to my vehicle. But good help is hard to find, and sometimes a novice tech or assistant might make a mistake, like not fully latch a hood. So I gave 5 stars because of the effort they made to make things right. read more

Kinda creepy location, but close to the highway. Which also means higher prices. If course, it's still cheaper than Southern California prices. .. so I can't complain. It's also not as nice as most BPs, unfortunately. You're trading convenience for higher prices and higher creepy factor. What can ya do. read more

I operate a commercial vehicle and I have a mechanic that gives me exceptional service. I've been looking for a backup to my primary mechanic. I came here on a busy morning and they told me they could fit me in and get my car done by a certain time. They did just that, which was necessary because I had a flight landing. Dennis was the one that helped facilitate my service. The only little thing I noticed, was that my car smelled strongly of dirty greasy boy. I wiped down the inside and sprayed an oil based fragrance and all was good in the hood. I have a regular customer that uses this shop, and is happy with the service. read more

They were having a customer appreciation day and changed my oil on my 98 honda civic for $5. But I later realized that they were careless and spilled oil over my engine. It's frustrating because my car is already so old and this made it worse. Again their mechanics are careless and slow. read more

I use to go to this statuon religiously due to its location and the staff (prior owners were amazing). However, this last month has been an experience that has reminded me why having a trusting and experience mechanic is worth its weight in gold. I brought my vehicle to the BP station with a question about my suspension as it was squeeking. I relied on their expertise as Justin explained to me i needed all new struts and shocks for all four. I agreed and allowed the work on the vehicle with a charge of $1,400. I picked up the vehicle that afternoon and after paying i went to my vehicle and was amazed to find out as i drove off the lot the same problem and issue with the vehicle was still there. I immediately drive around the block and returned it. Justin, the manager, said his person was hard of hearing and probably did not know it was still present. They then agreed to look into it further and now considered it to be the ball joints. I agreed to fix those and after another $300 i believe the problem was fixed. As i drove the vehicle home the vehicle started to make a new noise...a rubbing noise. The faster i went the louder the noise got. I decided enough was enough and went to another mechanic and he said with no hesitation, "who ever you had work on your car, never allow them again." The breaks were put on incorrect and could have been very serious if i would not have gotten it looked at right away. I will never go back to this BP station again!!!!!! I am out a lot of money and an added disappointment in the stations competence level. read more

Manager Dennis and the crew of mechanics offer a full service garage. I drop my vehicle off on the way to work then pick it up at the end of my work day. I've had work done on all four of my family vehicles and trust the experienced mechanics for everything from oil changes, suspension work, a/c repair and much more. They diagnose, troubleshoot and fix the problem the first time. Honest, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly staff provide great service each visit. Fair and honest pricing,. they never add services you don't need. All of this makes me a very satisfied customer. read more
