As I sit and reflect on these last 6 weeks in the Krav Maga 6 week challenge, I can't help but think of everything I accomplished. This program taught me so much about myself and the fact that I can push myself outside my comfort zone and reach my goal. This wasn't just a 6 week challenge for me but a healthy lifestyle change that steered me in the direction I needed to be. I could not have been successful without the knowledgeable coaches and instructors. They gave me the confidence and push I needed to lose weight and get fit. They are very dedicated to seeing you succeed and be the best you can be and for that I am forever grateful. I have a very busy life. I am a mom of three and have a full time 8-5 job as a nurse so finding time for a workout was extremely difficult. The classes were offered at different times and I could walk in to class at any time as long as I completed my 30 minute workout. This made it very convenient for me to get my workout in and also spend time with my family. The workouts were never boring and always kept me interested. My kids enjoyed the meals that I prepared and took interests in eating healthy. It has been a lifestyle change for my entire family. The meal plan was simple and kept me full. I never felt like I wasn't getting enough food. This program has done for much for my well being and mood (just ask my husband haha). I wake up everyday feeling great and don't feel sluggish at the end of the day. Looking for a way to reboot working out, I was thinking to start with a 6-week challenge program and I chose BR Krav Maga because of closeness to my home, because the program involved kickboxing and self-defense techniques and because they set me up with a meal plan just for me, and they also told me what my goal should be according to my body type. The gym is casual, and feels like a family, even after only being here for 6 weeks. Destin, the owner, is a guy that really knows his business, understands fitness and is a certified Fit-to-Fight instructor for self-defense. The people here are super friendly, top-notch instructors and very motivating. They are really dedicated and focused on each individual's development and provides great workouts session that accommodates different schedules. In just 6 weeks I was able to learn a bunch of new ways to train my body as well as improve my eating habits and I would have never imagined that the results could have been this successful. Finally, Krav Maga in Baton Rouge. I have read about Krav Maga in articles, seen it on TV and in Movies, but Krav Maga seemed to be only found in the big cities (New York, LA, Houston, etc.). When I found that Baton Rouge had it's own KM instruction, I had to see if i liked it. After my first class, I signed up. The Instructors are first class. They not only have the knowledge of the defense system, but have a passion to teach it to all types of people. I am a 40 year old male who has had ankle reconstructive surgery. I was incredibly out of shape and let's just say a bit over weight. I had concerns about my overall health and participating in Krav Maga, however I found that KM is for those who are in shape and out of shape. And let me say that it's a workout for both. KM is also very practical as far combatives and martial arts go. While some martial arts take a lifetime to become proficient, KM can be picked up in a short period of time. BRKM (both Perkins and Airline locations) is a phenomenal place to get in shape, lose weight, maintain, or even train to gain muscle. It is so well-rounded. They balance everything for you! They give you meal plans, personally encourage you via text, phone, social media, etc., personally train you in a small class environment, and most of all- are ALWAYS POSITIVE and SUPPORTIVE! I did the six week challenge as a washed-up athlete who could never recover after having my son. For the first time since I got pregnant (4 and a half years ago), I am back to my "normal weight." I lost 20 pounds and 7% body fat during those 6 weeks. I am full of energy again and motivated to always stay healthy now. If you want to learn self-Defense then Br Krav Maga is the place to go its as simple as that because the coaches and staff are all very helpful and eager to help if you have any questions they are happy to answer them, and will always demonstrate techniques if you are having trouble, and the owner Destin is a very friendly person and is likely the best coach there, but the others are fantastic too so you wont be losing anything from one coach to another and they all have their own style which is helpful because you learn variety and the gym teaches how to avoid getting into bad situations and what to do once you are in a bad situation (early and late defense) and Krav Maga involves everything from striking to grappling and everything in between so its a very well rounded system that you wont find in any other martial art because most of them have become competition sports that rely or rules and regulations. Therefore, Krav Maga can benefit anyone who wants to learn self-defense no matter your age, gender, height or weight, it works for everyone, and that is undeniable. read more

Just finished a 12 week transformation challenge at Baton Rouge Krav Maga. The program included weight training and a customized meal plan. The personal training and coaching I received during that time was excellent. Took training as an athlete to the next level. I had been training intensely at BRKM for 1 year prior to beginning the 12 week challenge, I was surprised at the gains achieved by eating properly and training with weights. I lost 12 pounds, 5.7% bodyfat, and experienced a 3.5 inch loss in midsection. Most importantly I've experienced increase in strength and athleticism that has enhanced my abilities as a martial artist. I finished the program at 16.3% bodyfat which exceeded my goal of 18%. I turned 50 since completing the challenge and I've continued the meal plan and weight training. This program transformed my thinking about eating and training. When I first signed up at BR Krav Maga, I wasn't sure what to expect. Many martial art forms seem to favor form over function, but I quickly learned that Krav Maga is practical, efficient, and effective. The instructors are engaged, knowledgeable, and excellent at communicating their knowledge. The kickboxing, sparring, and fitness classes are great for conditioning and weight loss (I lost 20 lbs over the course of the first few months). They have classes which cater to all levels of fitness and ability. The instructors and other students are kind, respectful, and extremely helpful. I highly recommend BR Krav Maga to anyone. No one should feel intimidated at the thought of joining. If I hadn't moved across the country, I would be there right now. I have had a hard time sticking to an exercise routine. I joined hoping it would be something I could stick to and it was! I've been going strong (3x week 30min classes) and its motivating enough to keep going to class without the long hour commitment of most workout classes. I definitely like all the instructors and how they show you different ways to improve. They teach ways to protect yourself from injury during kickboxing. Location is pretty convenient since its right off of the interstate on Airline. I definitely enjoy the atmosphere at the gym since there are a lot of people that are my level of fitness. Give it a try with the free class they offer and don't give up. Its a little awkward to find the rhythm of the class at first, but you'll catch on fast cause you'll keep coming after that first class. read more

I just completed the 6-week Fitness Challenge, and was able to shed 26lbs!!! Everything was absolutely awesome throughout the entire experience. The diet was specifically geared toward my caloric needs, and was filled with foods that I LOVE to eat. The workouts are intense, but the coaches motivate and push you to give your all while coaching perfect form to prevent any injury. The staff are always approachable and encouraging, and make themselves available at all times to answer questions and fix issues. Most importantly though are your peers. Through the use of a Facebook community, we are able to motivate each other while going through the challenge to ensure success and accountability. My experience with Baton Rouge Krav Maga has been nothing but great. The staff will take the time to explain every part of the process, whether that is weight loss or muscle building. I was able to put on 11 pounds of muscle in 6 weeks, and the HIIT style workouts were the reason I stayed lean during those weeks. My body fat percentage dropped during the process, and their unique diet with training was the main reason I was able to both put on muscle and lose fat! Do the challenge, join the program, talk to the staff... do whatever it takes to get yourself into those doors because this program is something you don't want to miss! Just completed the 6 week challenge! Overall, I really liked the program and what it offered! Cassie and adam were extremely supportive during the times when I thought that the goal was unattainable. To be successful one has to put in 100% and be disciplined. If you want it you will succeed here. The program works. My suggestion for the vegetarian/ vegan meal plan is more options without so much soy. In addition, when trying the other veggie options that were provided I had no results in that week. Wow. Krav Maga! Where have you been all my life?! So glad I started this. The instructors at Baton Rouge Krav Maga are super nice, professional, and experienced. They make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Besides that, it's a hell of a work out and a great, practical method of self-defense. I've practiced Shotokan karate and traditional Korean Taekwondo. While I respect those arts and techniques, I think Krav Maga offers more real-world self-defense techniques. I had a great experience at BRKM. It's not your typical gym. All the classes are group fitness which motivate you to be better. The classes are perfect size which makes for great one on one with the instructors. Every class has a new and different lesson so you are not doing the same mundane routine over and over again like most gyms around. They push you to your limits but each routine is suitable for all body types, age & gender. All of the instructors and staff are very helpful and go above and beyond to make your experience the best it can be. I would recommend this gym to anyone.
