I can't say enough about how great the team at BR Painting was with our project. They started the painting/drywall repair/wainscoting repair job on schedule and completed it in short order with a courteous, professional crew. I made some decisions along the way which we weren't happy with. Once the paint was on the walls we could see that the paint in one area was not to our liking and we chose a bad sheen in another area. This was entirely my fault but Phil was extremely patient and responsive. He got a crew out the next day to fix my mistakes at a very reasonable rate. I've worked with quite a few painters and contractors in the past and I have to say Phil was the most responsive I have ever seen. His answers were clear and concise and if he made a promise, he came through either to the standard to which he committed or beyond. I got a couple of quotes which were cheaper but when I dug into what was covered in them they were offering nowhere near the amount of service necessary to get the job done right. After dragging our feet for a while, we finally decided to get the exterior of our home painted. We wanted to go to a light (gray-ish) color but we had trouble deciding on the color palette. We requested estimates from 5 different painters (all highly rated here on Yelp!), not because we were looking to save a few bucks, but because we wanted someone who gave us confidence that they will do a great job and who could help make sure that our color choices will provide a great result. After meeting with Phil from BR Painting, the decision of who to hire became easy. Phil made color suggestions based on what we told him we liked, then he came over with samples of multiple shades of each of the colors (trim, accent, and main color) and he painted them on an area of the house so we could see which we liked best. He guided us through the selection process and the result is awesome. We are so happy with the colors, the quality of the paint job, and Phil's attention to detail to make sure everything was just right. I've posted one other review on yelp for AirForce1 Heating and Air, I try to be subjective and to the point; I hope those interested in having their house (inside or out) painted, get several qoutes and ask lots of questions. *Most important, write down all of your questions, and make sure that every single answer is annotated on your contract (to cover yourself in the end); this comment is geared towards contract work in general, as I've learned the hard way before. On to our house, I will try to load photos. The house was white before, and nasty dirty, chipping and plain worn out. Brett pressure washed the entire house to get the surface clean and ready, he had to primer some bare spots due to paint delamination (but that's a detail step you want in a painter). They started on a Thusday, and finished on Sun and our home is 3,600sqft. One of his painters Virgil was pulling 12 hour days, in 100+ weather...I felt bad for him, but was super impressed at the dedication shown. I watched him using the spray gun and not knowing much about that process, I'd say he was probably giving me good quality passes/coats, maybe more than other companies would have done. Before I forget, I did do some prep work myself to ensure some things were done how I like it. My wife and I pulled back a few inches of dirt all the way around the bottom foundation of the house so he could pressure wash lower and the paint would stick. I also removed the outside lighiting fixtures in advance, tore them down and had Brett paint them the trim color...they are like new and I saved $$$. The lines are crisp and neat as they spent a decent amount of time masking off before painting, and touching up after to ensure the end result was nothing but perfect. Like most work you have others do, you may see some things that you want corrected; I showed Brett some points I wanted altered and he updated those areas promptly. It was an easy relationship from start to finish. The paint used is great quality Dunn-Edwards. I can't even describe how awesome the house looks, I had neighbors coming to me and complimenting the change...of course I picked the colors with some input from Brett ; ) Best part about it all, the wife was impressed and happy in the end...so you know what that means guys! If I hadn't already painted our interior, I'd probably have Brett do some of that. read more

We hired BR painting for the exterior of our home. We met with Phil and right away we agreed we wanted to hire him. He had a great personality, and was very knowledgeable. We liked that while he was giving the quote he assured us it was him that would be doing the work not a team of workers we never met, and a phone number to call him if we had issues. He was extremely helpful when it came to picking out colors and did not rush us. Brett showed up the first day with him and was very nice also. They were respectful, professional, and very detail oriented. Honestly I'm extremely picky and it was hard to find any flaws in their paint job. When Phil left the job he asked me if there were any spots that needed touch up, and there weren't. He then said if there are some we see to never hesitate to call and he'd be back out to fix it. BR is the third professional painting company we have hired in the area. Loved our first guy but he's no longer around.We hired Brett's company because we wanted the job done fairly soon and we figured our favorite painter Damon Elder, was booked.The first room we had painted was our kitchen/family room. Phil painted the entire room from ceiling to baseboards with the exception of doors and door frames. I find it odd that BR does not consider it part of painting a room, but I was told beforehand. Phil is a fantastic, considerate, conscientious painter! I have been hesitating to write this review and have been "on the fence" regarding how many stars to give because Phil is so fantastic, but our experience went completely downhill with our second room. I hate to see someone like Phil possibly lose work, but I feel it's important for potential customers to know what happened to us. Towards the end of Phil painting the first room, I received a couple of texts from Brett requesting half the payment for the second room before beginning. Let me stress that this was before even beginning the second job or completing the first. Umm, no that is illegal in California. The law is 10% or $1000, whichever is less. I never paid anything up front. When Phil was finished he was paid promptly after our walkthrough. A week or so later our flooring was in and our master bedroom was ready for painting. I was told Phil would be doing the work but Brett showed up. I figured the guy is the owner so he would be equally as wonderful. WRONG! The first day I noticed the furniture was not completely covered and the outlet covers & blinds were all still on.The ceiling was painted the first day and it appeared he sprayed the ceiling and the bathroom walls despite confirming with me that the ceiling would be sprayed but the walls rolled. Figured okay, give him a day and he was probably just covering up the darker master bathroom walls with a quick spray. I figured the outlets and blinds would be down the next day. Well, I was wrong. At one point I came in the room and asked him if he was taking the outlet covers off. His reply-"Do I have to?" I am not kidding, this was verbatim what he said. I explained his employee removed them and every pro painter we have ever hired has. Then he began mumbling that whoever painted before him didn't remove them and I explained that the prior painter was my DH and not a (supposedly) professional painter I was paying to do a job. We all know that the paint will come off when you remove or replace an outlet cover. A short while later I looked in and noticed some outlet covers still on, I pointed them out and he said he didn't have the right screwdriver?? I came back in the room with my complete set and told him I had every screwdriver he'd ever need.He said he used a different paint on crown molding than ceiling but sprayed it. When he gave the original estimate we had no crown molding, then when we installed it I had him come back and give us a new estimate. He upped the cost by $100 because he said it was more work and he had to tape all that off and paint that separate from the walls or ceiling. He seems to have just gone through with a sprayer and blasted ceiling and molding. I asked him to take down blinds and paint and he became testy again. He said it was "dumb" that I asked him to take them down, paint and put them back up. He knew that they were being replaced eventually but not right away. I felt like I was asking too much so I said: "okay just put the small ones back on after painting and keep the large ones on the slider off". He literally threw them in my garage. He also broke the small one when he put them back up. We continue to find paint dripped on faucets and tile and window casings two weeks later. I used Drano in my sink and bathtub after because it appeared paint might have gone down there or perhaps it was from rinsing brushes or hands, I don't know. We see a line painted near our baseboard where the paint is unevenly applied. These are things I missed on the walkthrough, in fairness to Brett. However, I did notice a lot when we did do the walkthrough. His comment-"I should have you do this on all my jobs." My comment, "maybe you need glasses."He was paid after the walkthrough & he was civil about things I noticed needed touching up. Well, I learned my lesson- never again & I had a few more rooms that need to be painted. read more

They either didn't bother calling us back or were booked until the end of August-September. I looked at BR Painting's Yelps reviews and was very pleased with what other customers had to say.
