By far, the worst hotel/motel experience I've ever had. When I called up the day I was to check I'm, I found out they canceled my reservation and told me that I had canceled it. They were able to fit me by spending a couple nights in one room and then a couple nights in another. When I brought the keys from the first room to the front desk i asked them to let me know when the new room would be ready, and then we headed to the pool to go for a swim until the new room was ready. The pool was closed (and was still closed when we checked out a couple days later). So off to the car to sit and wait for the new room to be ready. We sat there for an hour in full view of the room we were going to be moving to. After an hour of sitting there waiting an employee brought us the keys. The room had been ready all along and they never even bothered to tell us! There were a couple other minor things that made the experience suck, but not really worthy of going into any more detail about. read more

I have family on the Island, so I have been here too many times to count. Believe me when I say it isn't easy to find decent accommodations here for a reasonable price. North Winds is one of the few that is both a great place to stay and relatively inexpensive. We booked a suite with a king sized bed and Jacuzzi. North Winds consists of a few different buildings. The building we booked into had been built with the sun in mind. We got the sunset in the evening and sunrise in the morning. We had a beautifully sun-flooded room with its own little deck (which could have used someone brushing away the spiderwebs before our arrival). Our room was really nice. Everything was clean and well-organized. We had a full kitchen, complete with oven. The shower has two shower heads, which would have been great if there had been water pressure. I can't hold that against the hotel as the entire island is lacking in water pressure. :-D The clerk at check-in was friendly and helpful, and when we had difficulty getting the TV to work he came to help right away (just a loose wire, fortunately). You're in the country, so expect real peace and quiet. I could only hear crickets when we went to bed. It was lovely. I would recommend this inn to just about anyone. There is an outdoor hot tub, a gym and a play area for kids. There is also a restaurant on site, although it was closed for the season. A really great place to stay. read more

This seems to be a fairly decent establishment, but a male working the front desk needs a little attitudinal adjustment. I approached him because there was no plastic liner in my ice bucket. He seemed almost annoyed, saying they don't provide those - but he did offer me a plastic bag that did the trick. I said, "I presume you're not part of a hotel chain, as ice bucket liners are first on the list to check, for the many hotel inspectors I've discussed this with." I went on to explain that people use ice buckets for such things as barf buckets and windshield cleaning. Instead of showing a little appreciation, he played off my "presume" comment and said, "I presume you'll be happy with this," referring to the plastic bag he'd handed me. Clean and comfortable with a complimentary breakfast. Stayed here for a couple nights during a group tour. They have a nice sized indoor pool, an outdoor hot tub that kind of works, and a gym. A nice walking path with outdoor exercise stations along the way and also bike rentals. read more

We stayed with Brackley Beach North Winds Inn & Suites recently for a few days. This place is located next to Brackley Beach, which is very popular, too popular in fact (for us). Even on a week day it was hard to get a parking spot, we drove around for 30 mins before we got one, when we got on the beach we almost lost the kids in the crowd. We did not note any other amenities in the area, the hotel does not have a restaurant, and there are not too many in the area. FYI, If you want nicer scenery and less busy beaches try staying closer to Cavendish or Greenwhich (Basin Head is also super busy). These beaches were the least busy and the most scenic/accessible. As suggested the rooms are pretty nice, however the thermostat was hanging off the wall when we checked in, I reported the issue to Iaasic (who is apparently the co-owner) but he did not have it fixed. One thing to note about the setup here, which is important; there are no elevators, but there are a number of steep stairs to navigate. Especially if you're staying on the top floor, & if your kids are young, it could be dangerous; moreover, if you're a senior this might not be the place for you. After the first night, and a decent sleep, the next morning we went for continental breakfast, and I wanted to take a few hard boiled eggs to the room because my daughter was quite sick, but when attempting to go out this Iaasic, again, yelled "you cant take food back to the room"! I explained the situation about my daughter being very sick and not being able to move about, and asked if he could make an exception he again yelled "no"! (I've always been able to take food back to my room wherever I've stayed). This nitwit then proceeded to get into a big heated argument with me in front of guests, saying a number of inappropriate things, I was just taken aback. I simply said "we're spending a $190 a night for our room", this place is quite expensive. When I left he accused me of smuggling food back to the room also, saying he should charge me and extra $10 for taking food out, which he did, after checking my credit card bill (I'll be lodging a dispute with the BBB and the credit card co). Later that night when we got back to the room from the beach, the phone was ringing as we entered, I ran to catch it as we opened the door.. again it was this Iaasic guy, he said we had a noise complaint about 15 mins ago, I said "how could we, we just got back in now"! Apparently he'd chose to make it personal, and to harass me/us. This is about the worst pompous little prick I've ever dealt with, he needs to take course in customer service. Also to note, house cleaning was OK, but not the best, as they did not clean the floors and we had sand all over our feet by the next morning. All things being equal, I can't in all good consciousness recommend Brackley Beach North Winds Inn & Suites, for a number of reasons, especially due to the unacceptable behavior of this Iaasic. read more
