Once we were settled we inquired about dining options and he marked them on a map of the area. In the morning the manager, Rod, was able to help us narrow down some places we could visit during our stay in Charlottetown and on our last morning he suggested a route for us to take getting to Cape Breton. He even told us to call the hotel if we had any issues in finding our way there. Our room was located on the top floor, same side as the front of the hotel. It was a decently sized room with a desk, tv, armchair and closet. The bathroom was a decent size but the shower stall was quite small and the water took a long time to warm up. Our on last morning we let the manager know that we enjoyed our stay but that the mattress was way too soft for our liking and he let us know that he's heard the same comment from other guests and that the mattress is actually new. In our section of the hotel there were a few rooms with a (small) common kitchen, dining table and a sitting area. Within the whole hotel there were a few common sitting areas both indoor and outdoors. By the front entrance there were coffee and ice machines along with filtered water. Breakfast was served in two dining rooms. There was all the makings of a continental breakfast (toast, juice, coffee, tea, yogurt, cereal) and servers would come by periodically to take orders from their menu and remove plates. There was a selection of six items to choose from and most came with locally grown potatoes (omelette, scrambled eggs or tofu, eggs benedict, oatmeal, waffles). Portions aren't big but if it's not enough then it's easy to grab some toast or yogurt to go along with it.

It was a true home away from home with a private entrance, kitchen (with stove, microwave, fridge, washer/dryer and all of the fixings) and living room. They gave us a couple of bags of chips and coffee as well. The apartment also included an assortment of games and beach towels we could use. I love that they are as eco-friendly as possible, with marked containers for recycling, housekeeping every 3 days, and refillable soap containers. The location is a short walk from all of the restaurants, shops and water front. I would love to come back and stay here again!

They built a outdoor patio area which was prefect to relax and enjoy the sun before heading out to dinner. Our room was the Jacque Cartier room. Super comfortable queen size bed and linens. The bathroom has a shower claw foot tub. Dee and Chris are great innkeepers. The food here is delicious as well, with breakfast included with our stay. Selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, inn-baked scones, and two hot breakfast options. There also make French pressed coffee, which if you been around PEI, you know there are extremely limited good coffee options. Definitely staying on all our PEI visits.

It was the first floor of a home at the rear of the inn itself. It was modern and bright with a large living room area with office desk, a screened slider out to the rear private patio/flower garden, full sized kitchen, washer/dryer, king bedroom, large well appointed bathroom with lots of hot water. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Warm cookies were provided each afternoon, weekday receptions with free beer and wine and a great breakfast each morning served in the front lounge area of the main inn.

Charlottetown isn't big enough for all of the major chains to take notice so I took a chance with the Tailor Shop. I was glad that I did. While the rooms are small by modern standards, they are more than modern inside. Flat screen TV, hair dryer, iron and ironing board and air conditioning are all present. No fancy WiFi login pages, just a password that covers all devices and it is super fast. It's very informal inside. The hotel is within walking distance of everything downtown. I would absolutely stay here any time I am in Charlottetown.

We were told our check in would be between the hours of 2-6 but when we arrived at 2pm, we were greeted with a handwritten note saying 'EMERGENCY!!!!!! Will return at 4:30pm!!' When we finally were able to check in, the woman in charge tried to completely brush past the check in fiasco by flippantly mentioning a "quick errand" and became short and quite rude when we pointed out the unprofessionalism of her timings, saying "no one EVER checks in that early!!!!" ........ as if WE were at fault for showing up on time. She was short with us, pointing out "you're obviously annoyed" at me because while she was showing us around, I was quiet. How uncomfortable. Who does that?? . We pointed out the ridiculousness of the situation but she would not back down. Fine. We had paid for the room so we were stuck with it- might as well enjoy Charlottetown. And we did, until we returned to our room. Personal items had been taken from our room and when I called down to the front desk, the 'innkeeper' was extremely aggressive- immediately threatening to call the police! I obviously called them myself and filed a report (my 20+ year military husband and I aren't exactly known for lying or or causing trouble so I wasn't concerned). The constable mentioned right away that no other call had been received about the incident so it just goes to show the innkeeper was full of it and we had clearly called her bluff. I would absolutely *******NOT RECOMMEND****** this sham of a bed and breakfast. I sincerely hope the innkeeper sees this review and feels ENDLESS SHAME for the GODAWFUL experience she provided us with..... SHAME ON YOU, FITZROY HALL.

The Water's Edge Restaurant needs a major upgrade. The service was great. The food was unbelievably bad for a hotel of this class. We went Friday night and while the hotel was full with a convention, the restaurant was almost empty. Very disappointing since the hotel had a great kitchen at one time.
