What a wonderful museum that is great for the whole family. Very informative and interactively engaging. Free to get in, parking is free as well, and located in the heart of LANL. Lots of history and a must when visiting Los Alamos.

Neat interactive museum. Lots of information and things to interest all ages. The movie has done so much to bring Los Alamos to the forefront that my 19 yo wanted to go and see. Very good. Best of all it is still free.

This is a free museum. It's for all ages and it's super educational if that's your thing. U can explore the science side and then watch the documentary videos that last 15 mins then see the timelines. It's worth it and did I mention it's free. Nothing in the world is free. Worth it and give yourself 2 hours if u want to touch all the interacting items

A good and moving museum. Fairly crowded on a Sunday in October. We recommend the 15-minute film.

This is a great science museum that highlights local Los Alamos science themes and topics. Since Los Alamos is a special place with a log of natural history and also historical significance, a lot of information is covered in the museum. The exhibits are very visual with a lot of hands on opportunities. It is a very educational museum! There are also two auditoriums to host educational talks as well as view films. I really enjoyed my visit to the museum.

The museum isn't open in the evening and is closed on Sunday's, but it's definitely worth visiting if you're in Los Alamos. Admission is free! I believe they are limiting the number of people inside and masks are required. We got to see a ton of exhibits on projects the National lab has worked on throughout the years and the most interesting was the film on how the town started up during world war 2. It was also really neat to see the models of atomic bombs and various missiles.

Loved every second of this place and didn't want to leave so much information. Amazing my dad lives right down the road from this great museum...

Los Alamos was a natural next visit after visiting the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History in Albuquerque. It was my first visit to Los Alamos and I may have been expecting something different but it was very fascinating. Los Alamos is still an area with working laboratories. There is no admittance to that area but there are museums, walking tours and displays to document the history of the town. The Bradbury Museum is completely free but do take donations and have a small gift shop to help costs. The Bradbury Science Museum was a very interesting way to understand what went on at the Secret Labs at Los Alamos and those who helped usher us in to the Nuclear Age. I thought the museum was well done and had great displays. You could walk around and see the homes where the scientists, such as Oppenheimer, lived. There is an app that has a lot of information. I had some trouble using it but I'm sure if you give it to your son or daughter that they could use it easily! I really expected to be able to walk through what would feel like the laboratory where the main work was done. If you come expecting a good museum, you will enjoy it. I recommend visiting Los Alamos for its history. The Bradbury Science Museum would be a great first stop. Check the hours before going. I highly recommend it to everyone visiting Los Alamos.

Bradbury Science Museum is a great museum to check out while visiting Los Alamos, especially if you came here in the first place to learn about the birth of the atomic bomb! We visited on July 4th, and were pleased to learn that it was open on a holiday and admission is free! The Museum has a range of material in all fields, other than nuclear weapons; though, it's interesting to see and learn about the different nuclear weapons displayed here. In particular, a highlight of my time here was seeing full-size models of Fat Man and Little Boy atomic bombs. In addition to the different exhibits, which some are interactive, especially for a younger audience, there was a theater that talked about the history of Los Alamos and the make of the atomic bomb. I highly recommend watching it during your visit, as the film is about a half an hour. Glad we visited the Bradbury Science Museum in the limited time we had in Los Alamos. I would recommend visitors to check it out and learn not only about such a significant component and time in national security through the exhibits here, but of the history of the town and why's it's so special today.

The first part of this review is going to be about the accomedations: First- I will admit that I am not camper. We did not camp- we stayed in a cottage (Pine 3) which was a queen sized bed. The room fit the bed. I'll give it that. The mattress was so smooshy that I thought I was going to slide between the mattress and the headboard. You get three pillows. Two standard and one queen. You also get about 13" of clearance between the corner of the bed frame and a table. My knees hit that black metal bed corner every time. You also get a lot of bugs because none of the screens seem to really fit the windows. The bathroom was spacious and gave you about 17 options as to where to hang your towels which is good as there are no closets. They are upfront about the rooms. There are no phones or TVs or coffee makers (we brought instant coffee that I made with hot tap water and I do not recommend doing that. Something really screwed up my intestines and I suspect it was drinking the tap water) (there is coffee in the dining hall but it doesn't open until 7am -or rather you can generally sneak in there around 7 but breakfast isn't until 7:30am). I have AT&T and my husband has T-Mobile. I had connectivity for the most part- not a strong signal but enough to get through. We ate at the dining hall during our stay. The first night did not set a great tone- the salmon looked like it had been baking for 3 weeks. Initially i thought that was maybe what my stomach was upset about but I am pretty sure it was the tap water. One day there was a salad bar with no greens. Just shredded cheese and cherry tomatoes. And another time there was no iced tea. We also were looking forward to using the pool but nope. Apparently they had no lifeguard so no one was allowed to use the pool which was a huge bummer because we wasted the space to pack for pool use. Overall I would stay somewhere else (there was a cute looking place nearby called the Abiquiu inn) and paying $10 to visit the ranch which is absolutely stunning views and trails. But for the cost of our stay it felt....not worth it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This place is hard to find on maps and most GPS systems. The address does not work. The official mailing address does not work on GPS systems or even on a map, its a MailIng Address only: 3650A Highway 528 Rio Rancho, New Mexico 87144 Google Maps on the website does not work, Google does not accurately place this location at all, do not use it. This has been verified by all the visitors that use Google Maps or Droid phones/Tablets Apple Maps on your Mac, iPhone or iPad do work precisely, but when you get there you will need to actually look at the screen to see that the building is a block east of 528 (i.e. you cant see that the building is not actually on 528 and the streets are not marked), just drive down the narrow (unmarked) street and watch the Map app, you'll see the building on the right side. J&R Vintage Auto Museum really is a block South of 550, and a block East of 528 in Rio Rancho near the intersection of 528 and 550. The official mailing address is on 528 but the building is not there, the building actually on a small street a block away from that map address. In reality its close to the intersection of. Christopher and Gabby Lane but neither one of those show up on any maps. The best way to find it if you don't have an iPhone is to simply use the GPS coordinates 35.323084,-106.571464 If you type that (accurately) in the search window of your iPhone or iPad's Maps app then it will place you right in the parking lot for the museum. If you can't do that then map your way to Montoya Road and 528 which is the the nearest major intersection that actually shows up on most maps. Turn East on Montoya Road then take the first street on the left then make the forst right. The building is on the right. http://www.jrvintageautos.com

At first I was not excited because the first couple of exhibits were southwestern themed (it's a me thing, not a them thing, it's just not my style or particular area of interest). A lot of pottery and Mexican/southwestern blankets. They also had a couple of other rotating exhibits. But then I entered their main exhibit. It's a GIANT room with winding pathways full of folk figurines and scenes. Western scenes, English scenes, Indian, indigenous, Mexican, African. All types. Many presentations of whole worlds throughout this room. My primary complaint is what others have voiced: most of it is exhibited without any context. There is a bare bones basic museum guide you can get at the exhibit entrance, but it still doesn't really tell you much about each scene. I can't remember what I paid, but it was less than 20 dollars. It's also on museum hill, so you can catch a couple other museums while in the area. This spot is away from the main drag for sure. I had to take a Lyft. The staff was helpful and super kind. I had forgotten my credit card at a restaurant and had to leave and go get it. They didn't make me pay a second time for coming back in, and I really appreciated that. Probably my favorite and most impactful museum in Santa Fe. Probably spent a couple of hours here.
