We took two grand kids (ages 5 and 7) to Creativity Warehouse for a pottery class that was…read moreadvertised in the January Cibola Neighborhood alerts. The pottery class was $40 per child. There were only 3 children signed up for the "Kids Clay workshop", so there was plenty of opportunity for the teacher to provide one-on-one attention to them. There was not much direction or instruction from the teacher on how to prepare the clay or proper painting technique to use on clay. She did demonstrate how to attach items to clay by scraping. For this age, we felt there should have been more instruction on designing of the objects and directions on how to paint the clay, so when fired, the color would be more vibrant. The color of the completed pieces was very washed out, almost if they had been just painted with water color. The teacher said the project would be ready in 7 to 10 days and that we would receive a text when the pieces were ready to pick up. It took 21 days and we were never notified for pick-up. We had to personally check 3 times to see if project had been completed and was ready to pick up. Very disappointed in the service after paying over $80 for the class.

She's super knowledgeable and helpful during our classes, and adapts the class to our projects. The space is quite big, and has a very nice atmosphere. You can bring food/drinks while you're in the studio, and you can even get some snacks/drinks while you're there. Dogs also roam the studio while their owners are working. Paseo donates a ton of money to local charities which is so sweet. They're a non-profit and you can "vote" on where you want the money to go. I'll probably take another class here. So fun!

They guided us through the process, making it both fun and educational. The facility itself is inspiring, filled with beautiful pieces of art created by talented artisans. Loved these guys! We had a sort of 'family reunion road trip' from Carlsbad Caverns to Utah. Two of…read moremy sisters, their kids, me and my kids and my parents. We spent 2 hours in the morning at Prairie Dog Glass and it was everyone's favorite part of Santa Fe, even over Meowolf. Just so fun to be hands on and the people are super cool. The glass pieces came out beautifully and are a super fun reminder now of our time together. I know a big group like ours is probably hard but the PDG folks made it work and were really cool. I even misunderstood the time and showed up 45 minutes late (!) and they still worked with us and moved things around so we could have the full 2 hours which was the perfect amount!

We had to stop. When we entered the building we were drawn into breath taking, sweeping, intense colors and a sweet dog named Lola greeted us. Unlike many galleries where we're either assailed by an artist who can't stop talking about themselves or worse, barely acknowledged, Ken Feldman introduced himself, warmly asked about us and invited us to explore his work. As we moved along we were drawn into our own New Mexico landscapes seen thru Ken's eyes and a touching story or two . We cannot boast owning a lot of original art but we were drawn to purchase one because we'd hiked that green and gold forest and wanted to feel that place in our home. My husband is telling me I'm started to sound sappy so I'd better stop. If you're a "tourista" or a local, enjoy the Taos plaza and all this unique city has to offer, but do get off the beaten path and meet Ken Feldman's New Mexico.
