And there are only 3 very tiny marks that seem to be getting smaller every day. The Dr. and his staff are truly life changing people, helping people to live life without pain. Checking in took a bit of time because there was one receptionist but that's nothing out of the ordinary. She was very nice and checked me in with a smile within (8) minutes. I was called within (4) minutes to see the nurse who proceeded to take my vitals and asked me to wait for Dr Grossman. I waited long enough (30 minutes) that I worried I may have been forgotten. When Dr Grossman walked in, all my concerns dissipated. Here was a very pleasant gentleman who immediately put me at ease with a number of questions deriving my social history (without my ever realizing this was the purpose of the questioning as I was instead wondering why he was being so nice to me lol). I think he took an excellent medical history and did a very thorough job of "getting me in the books" as a first time patient. He asked after not only my symptoms - but also my concerns. He performed a physical exam. He was incredibly kind and patient even though I am one of those patients who comes in rarely and has multiple concerns at the same time. He went above and beyond and made sure he addressed everything - advising me on what I can do next time to address further concerns. You might be concerned about wait times but consider it from my perspective: Here's a physician taking his time and performing a thorough examination of you while he's there with you. He's taking the time to listen to all of your concerns - suggesting further testing if necessary - and coming back to wrap things up with you at the end. Total gentleman; Class act; Excellent and highly competent physician. I found it notable that X-Ray facilities are in house - literally just a walk around the hallway. I was in and out of radiology within (6) minutes. It can take 10 minutes just to catch an elevator at a hospital! Again - wood paneling and wooden changing room doors and wooden lockers; purple trim everywhere. They should use NYU wood paneling and purple trim in every corporate office in the country to increase productivity and satisfaction.

I didn't know retaliation against a patient for posting a partly negative review was something a professional who had collected a substantial amount of fees for services from my appointments was a real possibility, but there it is. I was previously going to the same primary care doctor in NYC for ten years with no problems before I had to switch because of insurance. I have been going to the same dermatologist for years and we have a really good relationship also. Three "not currently recommended" reviews for another of the four Village Park doctors tell very similar stories about the office staff. Word to the wise I guess. Dr. Bekhor teaches at nearby NYU and is no doubt highly knowledgeable and professional and concerned and seems to listen to the patient. He is relatively youngish and wears a dark suit all the time, something I've never seen before for an MD. He is often sitting behind his laptop when you enter and may not get up from behind it during the appointment. (All records are on computer, not paper, and previous computerized data about you from elsewhere might show up, which is a good thing.) If you bring up something new that might make an appointment last more than a certain time you may find you have to make another appointment and come back next week. Yes, I was a bit taken aback when that happened The practice also has several other doctors. I got an initial appointment fairly quickly and the office is conveniently located a block from the West Fourth station. Like a lot of NYC doctor offices, the office is very cramped for the number of employees and the examination rooms are as small as they could possibly be, as is the tiny bathroom. The copier is in the waiting area about two inches from the chairs. I have had to go to various NYC doctors and dentists and most staff and doctors are great. But like in some other NYC doctor offices, some of this staff seem rather less professional than they might be - much more so than I've experienced elsewhere. The receptionist likes to play Spanish pop music on her computer speakers (or small radio of some kind) and seems to prefer gossiping with staff members and making personal phone calls and opening snacks to greeting patients or doing much of anything beyond the bare minimum, and then only with the clear attitude that you might be interfering with her busy life with your presence. She talks loudly in Spanish all the way down the hall to other staff so everyone in the waiting room can hear, if not understand. When you arrive don't expect a greeting or a smile or even any indication she is aware of your presence. Do expect to stand at the counter for some time waiting while watching any or all of the above. I unfortunately had to provide some medical documentation to a federal agency under some time pressure and eventually was referred to a Leilani, after she did not return my phone call and the office did not manage to call another doctor all day after previously not taking care of the issue for a week. She seemed to be much more about being rude and very defensive than complying with any requests in a timely or accurate manner. Later requests in person in the office for records being sent or received from other doctors or to the agency were handled efficiently and in a friendly manner by I believe the same person. A week later I called back and was transferred to three different women, none of whom seemed to know anything except that the document was not there. Usually I was abruptly transferred without a word. One of them just hung up. The last one finally said I had to talk to someone who wasn't there. I was in no way verbally abusive, but just flatly stated the facts. I was an EMT-B for six years and have worked a long time for a federal agency where most of my job is dealing with the general public in person and on the phone in often very busy circumstances, so I don't think I have super unreasonable expectations about either medical providers or customer service. I am expected to be and am polite and as efficient as possible even with the very occasional rude or hostile customer. The other comment here about administrative support at this office being "a bit of a mess" is certainly more than true. But at this point I can't give anyone the benefit of a doubt or chalk it up to being too busy. More like too incompetent, rude, and uncaring. I would strongly suggest hesitating before making any doctor in this office your primary care doctor.

The front desk staff is nice enough, and if you're nice to them first, that goes a long way. I have no way at all of personally judging a person's medical talents, so I'm taking the other doctor's personal visit and recommendation as high medical praise. The doctor and his staff are no BS, which I think some yelp reviewers have taken as not caring, though he and his staff were perfectly polite and helpful with my requests and concerns. He begins every appointment with a consultation at a desk and then the treatment is in a different room. This strikes me as a workflow filled with care. I had ample time to ask questions and he answered them honestly. He was happy to use the phrase "I don't know" when he didn't, a phrase which some doctors don't seem to have in their lexicon. His prices are extremely reasonable. He was in network for me, but the potential out of pocket costs are accessible. Tisch Hospital charges $4,000 for a rabies shot out of pocket. He charges $400. It's rare to go to a doctor without any worry of ruinous costs. He and his staff have what I would describe as New York attitudes, by which I mean they are honest, to the point, and don't BS you. If you require an extra calming doctor who will tuck you in to bed and kiss your forehead -- I completely appreciate if you do want that -- this is probably not the doctor for you. If you don't need a forehead kiss but just want cost-conscious, informed treatment, he's your guy.
