The office - like all NYU offices - is really top notch. There's something about that wood paneling and purple color that always put me at ease. Checking in took a bit of time because there was one receptionist but that's nothing out of the ordinary. She was very nice and checked me in with a smile within (8) minutes. I was called within (4) minutes to see the nurse who proceeded to take my vitals and asked me to wait for Dr Grossman. I waited long enough (30 minutes) that I worried I may have been forgotten. When Dr Grossman walked in, all my concerns dissipated. Here was a very pleasant gentleman who immediately put me at ease with a number of questions deriving my social history (without my ever realizing this was the purpose of the questioning as I was instead wondering why he was being so nice to me lol). I think he took an excellent medical history and did a very thorough job of "getting me in the books" as a first time patient. He asked after not only my symptoms - but also my concerns. He performed a physical exam. He was incredibly kind and patient even though I am one of those patients who comes in rarely and has multiple concerns at the same time. He went above and beyond and made sure he addressed everything - advising me on what I can do next time to address further concerns. You might be concerned about wait times but consider it from my perspective: Here's a physician taking his time and performing a thorough examination of you while he's there with you. He's taking the time to listen to all of your concerns - suggesting further testing if necessary - and coming back to wrap things up with you at the end. Total gentleman; Class act; Excellent and highly competent physician. I found it notable that X-Ray facilities are in house - literally just a walk around the hallway. I was in and out of radiology within (6) minutes. It can take 10 minutes just to catch an elevator at a hospital! Again - wood paneling and wooden changing room doors and wooden lockers; purple trim everywhere. They should use NYU wood paneling and purple trim in every corporate office in the country to increase productivity and satisfaction. read more

Terrible bedside manner. Lacks empathy and expressed no concern during first visit. Will not return and do not recommend.

I've never seen a doctor act so unprofessionally in my life. I came in to continue a medication I hadn't taken in a few months. Dr. Grossman asked me questions about this medication that he could have found in my medical profile (which I mentioned he should do), but opted to take notes by hand first, then leave the room to check my medical records. Once he returned, he ridiculed me for giving him inaccurate dates but reluctantly explained that he could prescribe a one month supply of medication after he ran some tests. I had expected the appointment to be much shorter than it was and I was in a rush, so I told him that I didn't have time to take the tests right now...before I could get another word in Dr. Grossman completely lost his mind. He slammed his notebook on the counter and screamed at me accusing me of lying. "I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WANT FROM ME!! YOU WON'T TAKE A TEST AND YOUR STORY DOESN'T ADD UP!!!" He yells. This medication is for something that I've struggled with my entire life as well as something I don't really like talking about in general. The one place I typically feel comfortable discussing it is at the doctors office. Once Dr. Grossman finished up with his tantrum, I simply stood up and left. Later on I checked the appointment notes and saw that Dr. Grossman had written (rather incoherently) that I lied about needing the medication and that I "got upset and walked out the door." Dr. Grossman should be ashamed of his behavior and should immediately seek help for anger management. I don't know how this man is a Doctor. read more

What Dr doesn't have a Dr on call for when he isnt in the office? I needed a refill and his staff was so rude. He was off boating and had no dr on call in case his patients needed a doctor. That doesn't work for me. When I saw him finally upon his return, he landed very righteous and arrogant. My personal experience with Dr Grossman was that he is judgmental and a poor listener and his office is beyond rude. They act like they are jail wardens. I was the only one in the waiting room and I tried to get the desk persons attention 3 times to request the sound on the tv be lowered. I had a bad headache. I got no response. They just sit back there chatting . So I lowered the volume a bit myself The woman behind the counter lost her cookies over it and began yelling at me " do you not see the sign woman " and pointing to it. I'm writing this to give you a fair warning. Some may not mind this kind of treatment. I do. The foundation of a woman's health is her hormones. Hormone imbalances can have tremendous impact on countless systems of the body. Healthy estrogen and progesterone levels are especially critical for women. I asked doctor Grossman to test my estrogen and progesterone levels on day 21 of my cycle (very basic lab) because I'm having relentless hormonal symptoms and he refused even though I can't get in to see my OBGYN for months. He didn't listen to any of my symptoms or discuss before refusing. This lack of engagement and basic knowledge of female health is shocking for a primary care doctor. His ignorance and unwillingness to investigate through puts women at risk. I just can't believe a doctor at NYU would be that ignorant of something so fundamental (there's nothing experimental or rocket science about testing a woman's estrogen and progesterone!) Needless to say he is no longer my primary care physician. read more

Very thorough and kind. Takes the time to listen to your concerns. Also he has a sense of humor which is also a plus. You can also get your labs, X-rays, and ekg all done in the same place. It doesn't require sending you to another facility to get it done like some offices. read more

Super doc Dr. Grossman has been my primary doctor for 6+ years. My wife switched to him 2 years ago, and she loves him too. He does not run tests to just to run up the bill. The guy is great. Each visit is long enough for me to go over my history and new concerns. He listens carefully, takes detailed notes, and had great connections (for spinal pain and for mole hiding skin CA). If you are looking for a "Norman Rockwell" family doctor, Dr. G. is your guy. And, if you simply want one doc for the next 5 years, he's a great choice. I am a physician and I have been a patient of Dr. Grossman for almost 7 years. He is great. He runs tests which are necessary, but not superfluous ones. He actually sent me for a test which revealed to be life saving few years ago, despite my reluctance (as many MD I think many tests are overrated.) Among all the physicians I saw after pregnancy, he was the only one who screened professionally for post partum depression (that I didn't have). read more

I wish I read the google+ reviews, before I went to this narcissistic psychopath, because they were dead on. Poster Jill C. either got the wrong guy or she works for him. ONLY go to him for like a urine sample if you already know you have a urinary tract infection and need to get on the plane the next day. But then again, I wouldn't even trust him to write for an antibiotic. Grossman should not be practicing medicine. Period. I won't say anymore here while I await my CT scan results. He is so scary I fear he'll tell me I'm fine even if I have a massive tumor. RUN AWAY. ADDENDUM: WENT TO ANOTHER DOC THE NEXT WEEK AND HAD BLOODS DONE AGAIN (NOT MY IDEA) Bloods back--underactive thyroid; low b12 (gave me a shot); and something else--I think Vit D deficiency. Although Dr. Grossman is a good doctor, the support staff leaves a lot to be desired. Three weeks prior to having major surgery, I went to Dr. Grossman to have all the required pre-surgical testing done. My surgeon gave me a list of the required tests needed, so there was no guess work involved. A CBC was required and blood was drawn. Two days before the scheduled surgery, the surgeon informed me that the CBC was never done. He was going to cancel the surgery, however I went to the hospital and had the CBC done there. I did not appreciate this last minute stress and aggravation caused by Dr. Grossman's staff's inexplicable failure to do this basic, yet required test. read more

Saw the negative comment and had to chime in. I've been a patient of Dr. Grossman's for 6 years. I'm old enough and lived in enough places to have had a dozen primary doctors. I've had three good ones and I consider Dr. Grossman to be one of them. This is a full-service office, so I can get all the regular tests at the time of appointment. Dr. G will refer to specialists or order followup tests if there's any potential issue. Appointments are easy (I recommend mornings to avoid a longer wait) and usually within the week. Dr. Grossman is simply the best. He was my PCP throughout the seven years I lived in NYC. He's an excellent M.D. He's kind, he listens, he's compassionate, and he's responsive and reassuring when you're sick. The equipment in his office isn't state-of-the-art, but it's certainly adequate for most situations. During my last 18 months with Dr. G. I also had unfortunate encounters with the receptionist; I was mystified by her attitude since I made every effort to be helpful and efficient with requests. This morning I called to advise of a change of address, and was relieved to be helped by a new person who was kind, patient, and knew just what to do. Dr. Grossman certainly didn't deserve the detrimental effects of the previous front office staff on his practice. Now that I'm no longer in NYC I will miss Dr. Grossman! read more
