Jerk. The third company, Mullinax and Mullinax, showed up when they were supposed to, and told me they'd email me the estimate. That's a red flag - if they're going to email you an estimate, they never do, and if you call them, they won't answer. But these guys! They showed up, gave me estimates with options, were really willing to work with me, came back when I found two more trees that needed to come down to adjust the estimate, and came out to do the work on a 99 degree day. Of the six trees, three were right up against the house, one was a multi-trunked monster, and also close to the house, one was just huge, and the last one threatened the power lines. None were exactly easy. And it was so hot! They went above and beyond, blew the leaves off the roof, cleaned up, did a great job. Was it expensive? In an absolute sense, yes, but they earned and deserved every penny. I am so grateful! When I contacted again, I was told I must be confused on my part, as the careless team that runs heavy machinery through wet yards couldn't have been the same careless team that ran that heavy machinery up against a bolt, splitting the wood and bending it out of place. For this service, you're better off renting machinery from Lowe's and doing the damage yourself. I was told quote "this is an unusually slow time" as there's been a lot of competition from tree companies starting more work from the hurricane that came through. I hired another contractor to remove it and install a new fence with new materials. The contractor also started a railway-tie retaining wall but left it unfinished. I paid for a replacement retaining wall and removal of the ties. The work damaged both my yard and my neighbor's yard, requiring sod replacement; some areas of my yard remain unfinished. During the work, the contractor damaged my Spectrum node twice and hit the back of my house with his truck, damaging the siding. I hired additional contractors to correct and complete the work, including property-line and retaining-wall issues. My total repair and completion costs were approximately $20,000 possible more.. I filed a court action and received a judgment in my favor; as of this review, it remains unpaid. I recommend withholding payment until the work is fully completed and inspected. I have documentation, photographs, payment records, and court records supporting this account. Prospective customers should independently verify the contractor's credentials, insurance, references, and contract terms.
