What is the best coffee in Tyler? What's my favorite coffee shop I've ever been to? The answer to both is Brady's. A local Tyler establishment open for 30 years and named after the owner, Brady's Coffee was there before a Starbucks reached Tyler. Brady's might have been one of the first true coffee shops in Tyler, Texas, and it is definitely the longest running. Even in 2026, the coffee is as good as ever. For the most part, James Brady himself is slinging beans and creating masterpieces. Alongside Mr. Brady is his team of young baristas working under the maestro, taking orders and helping him where he needs it. Brady's hours have now expanded, but the quality has remained. Upon revisiting Tyler, I was very excited to go to Brady's again. As we walked through the Azalea and Brick Street districts of Tyler, we landed on the classic off white building with a green awning. Walking in, there were a few people ahead of us in line. Some ordering drip, some getting a specialty beverage, and me and my girlfriend with big smiles. The prices are still as affordable as ever, especially as places are charging $6.50 for a latte now. Brady's is selling drip for $2.50 for 16 oz, a latte for $4.50, and espresso for $2. What a steal. As we ordered, they asked if I wanted cinnamon on top of the latte, a Brady's classic. I obviously said of course. My girlfriend, with her cappuccino with a little bit of chocolate, was asked if she wanted chocolate shavings. She said no, and I told her she was crazy. She said yes after I protested her choice. We took a seat at the most iconic chairs in Brady's, the Sinners Only chair and the God Bless America chair. I got my girlfriend to sit in the Sinners chair without knowing. Inside, there's plenty of charming decor, from the "customer is rarely right" stickers. A little wait later, our drinks were brought to us. Grateful Dead played over the speakers. The music at Brady's is always on point. My girlfriend was very impressed by the cappuccino. To her, it tasted classic. The chocolate shavings were really nice according to her. My latte was also fantastic as always. What's amazing is how welcoming Brady's feels to all. It has this natural hometown feel and though the owner is strong in his religion, Brady's doesn't have Christian coffee shop "vibes" where only a certain group feels welcomed. We went back a few days later, and she got a mocha. She was impressed that it was a true mocha using real chocolate like cocoa powder versus chocolate flavorings or chocolate sauce. I told her Brady's does it differently. I dream about Brady's. There is this classiness to it that is missing from most places. It's not trying to be something it's not. It is never trying too hard. It's just a classic coffee shop. It feels like 2004 inside with a little touch of Global Village Coffeehouse. Maybe some of the best coffee I've ever had when you step back and take it all in. Brady's is and was the only true "coffee house" in Tyler. It was the only coffee house 25 years ago, until the chains started moving in. I avoid all of them, especially Starbucks! My son was a barista for Starbucks and got mistreated by District Manager in Seattle when he was a student at UofW. Jim Brady's Coffee is always perfect, though I like mine hotter than most people at 140 to 160 degrees. You just have to ask. And it always tastes better in a porcelain cup. I checked out this place the other day and had never noticed it before . It's not hidden, but blends in with some other places. I wasn't sure what to expect , but when I walked in , the aroma was so nice . I instantly smelled the coffee. It's a quaint little place that seems pretty cool to study or meet some friends. I specifically went in for Matcha loose tea because I saw it recommended on Yelp. but they did make me a matcha latte which was so delicious! Service was awesome! read more

Coffee is made to exquisite standards, and I know for a fact that the espresso is made to perfection and always tastes delicious in lattes and signature drinks! The pastries are also very good! Especially the Mexican Spice Mocha muffin warmed with butter.... INCREDIBLE! The service is also very good, they are always helpful and nice and deliver your drink with a smile, this is a sit-down café, and they do not have a drive threw.... so do not come expecting to get out in under 5 minutes, they often take a little while to get the drinks out if you catch them in a busy time, but it is always an exceptional cup of coffee and I have never found a better one elsewhere. I do think the vibe could use some improvement, it is an older place and comes with some downsides to that, but I also appreciate the old vibe feel. But I have talked with Brady and some of their employees and I happen to know they have some big remodeling plans in the future they are hoping to do. And you can catch them playing Gregorian Chant or Classical music on any given day which is an incredible refreshment from the modern-day pop or rock they play in all the other cafes. We LOVE coming here! The family that runs this place is always so friendly and fun to talk to. We love getting their muffins - raspberry and lemon one is particularly tasty - and they give you an option to have it warmed with butter on top :) The drink names are fun and the actual coffee is delicious! It's also a great place to study and get some work done. They have a policy about taking calls outside and keeping the noise to a minimum. The atmosphere is really relaxing and it's fun looking at all of the local art that's displayed around the shop. You can also buy coffee from around the world, displayed in giant jars towards the back of the room, and get it ground up to take home :) We definitely recommend this place! read more

I was a bit hesitant to try the coffee just because of the outward appearance. However it was amazing! I got a dirty chai latte l, and it was so phenomenal in both quantity and quality. They have more than enough room for parking. But the thing that sold me the most of Brady's, and this probably very unorthodox, was that they have three ply quilted toilet paper and paper towels in their bathroom. I think that alone tells you how much Brady's truly cares about its employees and customers. I encourage you to go to Brady's instead of Starbucks or even the foundry on your next coffee date, study session, or even just your regular coffee run. I promise you won't regret it read more

Tried this place this morning and was intimidated by all of the options they provide. Luckily, the employee behind the counter was so friendly and knowledgable and she made an amazing recommendation for me: cinnamon dulce over ice. It was so perfectly creamy and sweet, all the things I like as I'm not a huge coffee drinker. She said that if didn't like it that she would make me something different. She was really sweet. Update... went in this morning and ordered three latte's to go. Coffee was great but once again the staff seems unfriendly. The young lady behind the counter who took my order seemed distant and uninterested, without even saying hello, she asked for my order. I greeted her warmly in a effort to cheer her up. She mumbled something I could not make out as she turned away. After waiting for the coffee, the shop owner brought my coffee to the counter also without speaking or even looking up. I said "Good Morning" and he did return the greeting without stopping and turned away. Wonderful coffee was warm but the reception was not. read more

Ahh finally. A beacon of hope for coffee-drinkers in Tyler. I found this little gem on Yelp, so I had to go check it out. I absolutely loathe Starbucks, so I was so happy to find a place where I could get excellent quality coffee while supporting local businesses at the same time. The inside is super cute, and jars of gourmet coffee beans line the walls for purchase. I ordered a cold coffee, the Milky Way, and OMG MY TASTE BUDS!!! It tasted like a chocolate peanut butter shake, but not in an overpowering way for coffee so that you could also taste the espresso. So good. I found Bradys on Yelp and decided to try it, I'm so glad I did. I had no idea this shop was even in Tyler, I've passed it so many times and never saw it. It's a small coffee shop, with a small menu. I came here with my three sisters on a Saturday morning and had one of the best coffee drinks I've been had!!!! I ordered the Italian Soda ($3.50) with cold-brewed espresso and cream and it was better than an iced coffee. It was slightly sweet and very refreshing! I will order this again anytime I'm here! My sisters ordered the Iced French Vanilla Latte and the Iced Mocha and liked them. The iced mocha was very chocolatey, almost like chocolate milk. There were no iced decaffeinated drinks available. And, for moms, you might want to know that there wasn't a changing table available in the bathroom. :) Nevertheless, this place was kid-friendly. :) It had a very warm, small town feel. read more

Don't read this book by the cover. Anytime you see toddy makers for sale at a coffee house, then you know that the baristas take their profession seriously. This unassuming standalone building in the "Brick Streets" area in Tyler is a beacon of hope for coffee lovers. There are at least 15 types of freshly roasted beans to choose from, and wide variety of drinks on the menu. After my brother spotted to toddy makers for sale, we both changed our Latte orders to Iced Lattes...and wow!!! This place is good. I'll be in Tyler for six days, and I know that I will at least have 6 drinks from Brady's. This place is big with his and hers bathrooms, plus there is plenty of local art on the walls. Stumbled upon Brady's Coffee while my sister-in-law was having her hair done by Coby. I was told that the owner really prides on his coffee beans (as he should!) and that his coffee shop is thriving despite the booming of various chains in Tyler. I loved my iced vanilla latte! I thought that the coffee had a good aroma, a nice bold taste without tasting acidic and had a touch of sweetness from the vanilla and creaminess from the milk. Brady's is definitely the kind of place that grows on you. The owner bakes his own muffins which are delicious (if they have double apple just buy it, trust me it won't be there that long) and really seems to know his stuff regarding coffee. This may not be as big of a deal now that we have other shops in town that take their stuff seriously as well (Tazza, and Downtown Coffee Lounge) but he's been in town longer than any of them and is a true professional. If you don't know what to order (or you just want to test him) ask the owner what he recomends, I think you'll be impressed by his knowledge and the care he takes in his product. I can't vouch for the other reviewers but I can say that from my experience the other patrons have never been a bother. read more
