I truly wish that my experience was that of what the other reviews state. I do like the overall outcome of my install, however I will not be returning to spend anymore of my money with this company. For some of my braids I can tell exactly where the hair is added, and I do not like how unnatural the braids fall. I would have loved to have the microbraids layered to mimic that of how natural locs flow. Unfortunately, the customer service here needs major improvement. The stylist seem underpaid to me. The cost of service is $55 for a consultation + $2950 for the 16" belle microbraids. If I could guess, the stylist may see $500 of that money with the energy that was given over my head. I wasn't even greeted warmly at the door. While I was serviced, there were two braiders completing my install. One of the braiders started with the wrong color. After she spent an hour+ using the wrong color, I told her to just match the opposite side with the same color. There was no remorse on her end regarding this mistake. Both stylist complained about having to do reconstructions (microtwist to microbraids) and took constant breaks on their phones. I did reach out via email to express my concerns and give details regarding my experience. The manager contacted me saying that the stylist wouldn't be servicing me for my reties, but never addressed any of my other concerns in the email. Gone are the days where I will continue to patronize businesses where I do not feel appreciated. Now I am left to find another stylist to continue my loc journey. read more

My virtual consultation in May prepared me and advised what to expect, so I was ready with a book, my iPad, snacks and water. The process from consultation to install was very professional and organized. M'sonya and Ib did my install and were very friendly, nice people. Very gentle, no tension or pain. My scalp isn't sore. They are popular due to the Bella Loc extensions. I went twice, the first time I had 2 people on my head which was not a good experience and I call customer service to let them know I did not want them again. My next appt went well and I liked her and scheduled her for my next appt. Well as usual they change your stylist. It becomes the assembly line and you never know who you're going to get. I don't like several people doing my hair. This is why I elected not to return and on my appt day, a lady was there distraught who had flown from out of town and was complaining to management but the manager showed no empathy but was rather dismissive. It's at your own risk to go to this establishment. Some of the girls do an awesome job, you just can't request your loctician. read more

I traveled from VA to have my hair done because I saw their work on IG and I was not disappointed! My hair does not hurt AT ALL! It literally only took 3 hrs....If that. My hair is on the shorter side because it's growing back from chemo... and she made my bomb locs look so full and beautiful! And when I say that I have no pain, I am not exaggerating! That part absolutely blew me away. They may be 2 1/2 hours away from me but I have found a new braider for life. She didn't pull my edges out one bit and that is always a concern for me. Great installs, but the buck stops there. I hate to have to write this review because I really loved my initial install, but have had significant issues with the quality of ongoing services. After the virtual consultation, it was recommended that I have regular microlocs installed based on the thickness of my hair which I was totally on board with (vs the Belle Microlocs with extensions). While I appreciated the skill of the stylists (key word trained stylist, not certified micro loctician) at Braids that Speak for my install and reties, there was little to no focus on how my hair was progressing/maturing and no focus on educating clients on how to best take care of their hair. The only (if at all) education and focus on hair health is through a virtual booklet. My stylist could not answer any questions about the progression of my hair or address any issues. She would just say "i think that's just your hair" or "it looks fine." I do not blame her for that answer or lack of information - it was clear that the focus has been teaching the stylists the install and retie technique only. I would notice issues with my hair after the visit (occasional loose reties, bunching, tangled ends) and I would have to use their virtual platform (texting their business line) to try to address the issue which was both inefficient and ineffective. I would have no idea who I was speaking to and would have to reexplain my issue multiple times and send pics to whomever was managing the system that day(s). And often the advice would be to talk to my stylist at the next retie, which again resulted in the answer "that's just your hair" or "I don't know how to fix that." On one occasion it was recommended that I have a trimming and pruning session, however during my visit, my stylist said she didn't know how to do that but also that i didn't need it. So inconsistent. For the price you pay, that is unacceptable. It's essentially like going to the dry bar for microlocs. The focus is definitely at doing this service at scale vs the quality of the overall experience and long term journey. As with many black women, it's a very big decision to commit to microlocs. I thought I had done thorough research and found the right partner for my loc journey. I was wrong. I have now switched to a certified micro loctician/sisterloc consultant to help address issues that were ignored for the last couple of months to try to get my loc journey back on the right path. The advice I have received is completely different than what is in the virtual book, and we have been able to address my issues in real-time. Sadly, it's required a tremendous amount of repair for things that I was told was 'just my hair.' Please think twice if you are going to use them for ongoing services. I had my install done in Nov 2022 and it was a great experience! My hair is LOVELY! I get compliments everywhere I go.The stylists were prompt, checked in with me frequently asking if I'm okay or if I needed anything, and were so supportive and pleasant to me and to one another. I had a slight concern with my hair towards the end, but they promptly fixed it and made sure I was comfortable before leaving the salon. The salon was so neat and well in order. The music playlist was BOMB! Such good music that I didn't even use the entertainment I brought with me hahaha. I had my first retie yesterday and same experience; good energy, clean, and good vibes. I waited til after this appointment to write my review and I'm still impressed. I have recommended BTS to several friends already. I had my install of Belle Microlocs Twist in May 2022. I absolutely love my hair and the progress. I just have to say commuting all way from New York has been a struggle. I try to keep up with my reties. I recently found someone to do my retie in Brooklyn but still want to book appointments with BraidsthatSpeak so they can see my progress and also address any needs such as slippage or trimming. BraidsthatSpeak has that special touch and also they can address any concerns with their install. My only suggestions are I wish there was an 11am option in addition to the 8am or 2pm appointments. Typically if I do 8am I have to catch a 3:20am train. If I do the the 2pm appointment I get home after 10pm if no delays. So usually time is a big factor for me. I purchase my train tickets in advance. My only request is to get my service started as soon as possible and finish as soon as possible so I can make my train. I try to allocate 3-4 hours for the service. If you can please make stylists aware that some clients do have these challenges and need their service done in a timely manner. I had my install January 2023, great way to start off the year. I have the Belle Microloc Braids. I love my locs, it is exactly what I wanted. The two stylists that worked on my hair, I believe their names were Sakaya and Janai, were amazing. They were fast and efficient. As someone who had Sisterlocs in the past that required a three day install, I was mind blown that I was out in less than six hours. I had my Belle Microlocs installed here and it was an uh-mazing experience from start to finish. The consultation was virtual and Tatiana was very patient with me when she answered my questions. Her website really provides so much information, but it was cool to speak to her to make sure I understood the process. The day of my install, she had her trainees working on me. I knew about it ahead of time, so it wasn't a surprise....but, man the way she trained her people, there was no need to worry. Their work was just as good as hers from Instagram. They did AWESOME especially on that grid pattern. I had two people working on me in the morning and one in the afternoon. I noticed they were meticulous when they were doing the grid and wanted to make sure every braid and twist was done right. The shop was clean, everyone was professional, and we wore masks. While the whole process took about 13-14 hours, I promise it didn't feel that long while I was there. I'm in love with my hair and SO GLAD I chose Tatiana and her team to get me started on my loc journey. I would recommend anyone from her team and it was worth every penny. Due to past coloring failures, the ends of my natural hair were super straight. We thought the microloc braids would solve the issue but there was serious risk of unraveling.
