I stayed for around a week in the Grace Unit. Pros: Some…read morenice staff, activities, a safe environment. Cons: The Grace Unit does every 15 minute checks including during sleep time. Not only does this cause stress on the staff, but causes a loss in good mental health programming for the clients. There are nice social workers on staff, but no psychologist. A diagnositic assessment upon entry with intensive therapy would make more sense then the current model. No offense to the sws. Just like the RNs have pystriactic nurse practioners on staff, the social worker should also have a psychologist over seeing the programming. I was told when admitted by a RN that I was expected to be gone in 3 to 5 days. This is not a person centered practice, even if they do consider themselves an acute mental health center. However the meals and meds were all timely. There were no safety concerns. It was also nice that they allow patients to have radios and sound machines.

The absolute worst treatment I have ever received. Dr. Rebecca Holcomb is the absolute worst type…read moreof doctor; she has zero bedside manner. When she came into my room, she got 6 to 8 inches from my face and was immediately confrontational and aggressive. I had barely said five words and did absolutely nothing to warrant such disrespect or hostility. Dr. Holcomb repeatedly ignored my medical history and refused to provide safe care. She decides on a course of treatment without taking the patient into account. When presented with clear facts on why I cannot take a specific medication, she does not care and insists it is "that or nothing." Had I taken the medication she demanded, the consequences could have been detrimental to my health. For any so-called doctor to get in a patient's face and corner them in a hospital bed with such unwarranted hostility and intimidating authority is completely unacceptable. I would like to know if anyone else would be willing to share a similar experience they've had. Rebecca Holcomb was way to comfortable doing this for it to be her first time treating patients like this. I've seen other Doctors here with ok treatment. I've seen one doctor who was absolutely respectful, caring and thoughtful. REQUEST A NEW DOCTOR IF REBECCA HOLCOMB IS WHO'S ON OR GO TO ANY OTHER ER AROUND.
