WE love Brainy Academy. My son who is 5 now, took montessori classes here about a year ago, and lego robotics at the Park Slope location. We cant say enough good things. everything is clean, well organized and the teachers are warm and helpful. He did another similar program and did not respond well to it at all. We attended brainy academy on and off for several years. Here is what I love about the program: The teachers are amazing, dedicated and LOVE the kids The place is super organized, everything happens on time and on schedule. You wait while your child attends classes and watch them on tv so you know exactly what is going on at all times And there are plenty of no commitment options which is amazing in terms of flexibility. Brainy has exceeded my expectations in every way possible! First of all, Brainy really is the most convenient and reasonably priced tutoring service in NYC. They are just a few blocks from Sheepshead Bay train station, open 7 days a week, and offer 8 hours of one on one tutoring sessions for about $250 a month!!! Prior to discovering Brainy, we looked into Enopi, Kumon and Sylvan. All of which were really expensive (i.e. $2,500 for 40 hrs of tutoring). We eventually settled on Sylvan because of the convenient location and schedule. The goal was for them to provide advancement and enrichment for our 7 year old daughter. And although the staff and tutors at Sylvan are very friendly, after more than 30 hours of tutoring, i can't say that i've noticed any major improvement in her reading comprehension or writing. We also tried their math tutoring. However, after only a few tutoring sessions it was clear it wasn't working. Mainly because the tutors weren't familiar with Singapore math. BUT let me tell you more about Brainy! With only 6 hours of tutoring in Singapore math, my daughter has already gone from being an okay math student to a GREAT math student! She has been receiving both group and 1-on-1 tutoring sessions. Unlike Sylvan, Viktoria the director, makes sure kids are grouped according to their level. So the tutor isn't teaching completely different subjects to each child in the group. Another plus is that Viktoria makes sure the children have the same tutor every week. Speaking of tutors, i have to give Mr. Iye a huge shout-out because thanks to him i now have a daughter who is confident in her math skills and doesn't wait for me to do math homework with her anymore! She has even moved on to the more "challenging" group in her class! From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank Mr. Iye for giving her the "push" she needed to succeed in her class. And thank you Viktoria and all the other tutors who are equally great! So whether you're looking for a place that will provide advancement and enrichment OR need help for your struggling child please don't hesitate to bring them to Brainy. I initially used Brainy Academy to prepare my son for Pre-K. I continued using the services even after he entered pre-K. I used both the enrichment group classes and the individualized tutoring sessions to prepare my son for the G&T test. I was very happy with the services rendered. The staff at Brainy Academy were very friendly and supportive especially Viktoria. My son loved what he called "Saturday School" :-). I am not using Brainy right now but would not hesitate to use their services again. I have been bringing my kids since Brainy Academy opened, and I love them! They are affordable, close to home, and have a great space. My kids love coming there for classes. They have even begun to read more and do their homework without me having to tell them. I like their Science with Legos class, it makes my children excited about science. It has them wanting to learn more, even on their own. Their methods are unique for the area. They really do focus on each child individually and make sure that child is doing the particular work he or she should be doing, depending on their strengths and weaknesses. I brought my other kid to brainy this year. The teachers are wonderful and kids having a great time being here.

We enrolled our child in Brainy Academy because we felt he was not being challenged enough at his Pre-K. What we got in return was a lot more. He loved going to Brainy. He looked forward to every class. They taught him how to read, write do simple addition and most importantly how to think logically. They also taught him how to be independent. Their approach, instructors and educational material are excellent. I will definitely send my younger one to brainy when he is ready. read more

Really good place. My son goes there and we love it and he loves it. It's brand new, clean and people who work are really into it and are attentive and caring and really try to make the academy a really good place. Don't ever give a deposit to this place you will never see it or get credit for your services . I left a deposit for a tutoring class and then we decided not to go. Then I wanted to get my money back I called 20 times, and I physically went there four times, and I was told that someone will call me back or send me a check .No one ever called me back or send me a check. This is all happening with in a year . Now I decided to go back and use my credit they tell me the time is expired because it's past 12 months and I can't use my money. A money making place with the owner of questionable business ethics. Viktoria (the owner/manager) is only nice for as long as she gets you to become the client. After that, any issues that arise, she is too busy to address or she will yell out the response. In their introductory speech they critize all of the competitors and claim to have some exceptional program. We've tried their both private and group classes and found nothing extraordinary (standard young college age instructors), but a lot of arrogant and "russian style business" attitude. read more

Want to warn people about the well known "amazing" brainy academy of sheepshead bay.. Can't complain about the actual facility or the teachers, but the owner is a piece of work.. Basically after signing my son up for private sessions they ended up cancelling his sessions every week since his original teacher left and they could not accommodate our specific day and time slot we would need (as discussed prior to signing up). So after one month of them cancelling on us I demanded to speak to the owner and I was told multiple times she would get back to me, what a surprise no call back. After explaining to them I want to cancel all together bc if they can't accommodate us for the time we need what is the purpose then?However I did continue to get charged every month for services that were NOT provided. After multiple failed attempts to have the owner call me so we can discuss and work sometbong out I notified my credit card company of these charges. Nevertheless by the third month of our contract I continued to get charged without any services provided by their end. I got a call by the third month by their front desk person who politely gave me a message from the lovely owner that if she doesn't get her money she will put me in collections. After I again requested to talk to her I was denied. And what do I get in the mail today, a lovely collection notice that I owe them 800$ for services that were never rendered from their end! Ha how professional. I tried to keep it professional from my end but at this point she is a joke and others need to know what kind of scum she is runs and inappropriate buisness. No regard for clients since she's to busy trying to franchise her buisness. Nevertheless be warned of her shady self. read more
