A breath of fresh air. I have had land in Anderson County for 38 years and somehow have missed the connection with Braleys Ace Hardware in Palestine until yesterday. I have blissfully traded at the box store. My son was using our 20" Stihl chainsaw to cut up some downed timber left by the ice storm and the nut that secures the bar on the saw came loose and was lost. We looked for Stihl dealers in Palesine and found Braleys in the old phone book and decided to give them a visit. We were looking for a specific nut and I wasn't sure that they would have in stock. The clerk at the control desk directed us to the lawn and garden deparment and the gentleman that waited on us knew exactly where to find the part. He asked us how many we needed and calculating we might need a spare, we asked for two. We inquired how much we owed him and he responded "nothing". He refused to accept any payment. He then and there cemented a relationship for both myself and my son. We won't be trading anywhere else for hardware in Palestine. Unfortunately Braly's has allowed very profane merchandise to be sold. There were multiple seasonings that were called "Bull ....." (this review won't let me put the word in). I just don't understand how a PUBLIC place can openly show this. I told the worker I was offended and everything they sell can be purchased online or other places. It hurt me bad, this has always been my favorite place to shop, but I can not any longer at least until this type of nonsense is removed. Honestly, I wish there were more stars to give Braly's! This is by far, the BEST Hardware and Building Supply Store I've EVER been in! There's anything & everything your heart desires. The customer service is EXCELLENT! Jacob directed me and walked me over to exactly what I was looking for. All of the employees were so helpful. If you need to pick up a BBQ Grill, they have 'em, lumber, paint, cabinets, patio furniture, hummingbird feeder, dog bed, kitchen gadgets & cooking utensils, YETI Cooler, Tools, Tools & more Tools, Braly's has it ALL ! I could spend half the day in Braly's! Braly's moved into the Old Rusk Elementary School after being in another location since 1932. The Braly family knows Good Customer Service! It's a sad realization that good old personal attention and good customer service is such a thing of the past......but, if you're yearning for a blast from the past, this is the place you'll find it! I have been shopping at Braly's Builders Supply for over 50 years and continue to get the same excellent service that I have always received. Their new location, at the old Rusk School sight (where I attended 4th grade in 1964), is great and still continues to exhibit the small hardware store atmosphere which is so rare these days. One stop shop for home improvement needs. Sound like an advertisement but it's true for this place. They have what the big box stores have and the expert advise to go along with the product. Even if your a weekend home handyman they will tell you what you need. One of the last places in town that will rekey locks. They have paint, flooring lighting and even Yeti coolers. read more
