I initially sought Karen McGuire's representation and was passed off to Patty Condon because of…read moreMcGuire's alleged workload. Ms. Condon is an affable woman and seems capable, but in the end she is best versed in fleecing the client with billable hours. From the onset I had an acrimonious divorce, wherein my ex-wife sought to deprive me of my child to punish me for seeking a divorce. My ex came from money and hired a high profile attorney that had decades of experience in divorce law. At my first day in court, it was apparent Condon was out of her league. Fortunately I was granted visitation of my child, mainly do to my ex overplaying her hand in court with frivolous accusations. However, when it came to representing me financially is when Condon collapsed. More than once Condon grew emotional and frazzled when things were going poorly. During a deposition, i had to raise my voice and inform both attorneys to "calm down" when yelling between the two erupted in the conference room. In retrospect I'm convinced it was just theater to justify their exorbitant fees to attend. When I inquired about using my rights to my ex's retirement savings (over $250,000 at the time) as leverage against her ridiculous demands on mine, Condon became dismissive with a "let her have it' mentality. More than once i felt an almost sisterhood connection between Condon and my ex when it came to child support and bilking my future retirement benefits (Condon herself was divorced and collecting from her ex). After 2 stressful years and tens of thousands of dollars given to Condon (mind you i am not a investment banker or wealthy by any means. Solely a W-2 employee)), i signed off on an "agreement" out of desperation that I never should have. Since then i have shown the settlement to several divorce attorneys. All of which pointed out numerous areas Condon could have fought over, but eagerly surrendered to. In the end, i believed she was actually afraid of the other attorney and sought a quick end for herself and a lasting financial albatross for me.

I was devastated by the work done by this firm. In the end, after spending about $20,000 on a legal…read moreseparation, I ended up having to fix the grammar in the agreement. Now that I am ready for a divorce, an attorney with integrity is shocked by how poorly the agreement is written. In addition, I had to fight to get the balance of my retainer returned by threatening to report this practice to the Bar Association. I am shocked that a practice can operate in such a manner.
