We found Southern Iron and Fence on thumbtack.com Tom's son Brandon came out and sold the fence to us in very early spring 2016. They sounded great, and we put down a deposit. That was a huge mistake. They said they were 2 months out on all work. No problem. We waited. Then like all the other reviews here the lies started coming in. They said they would come out. We would take off work to be here. They didn't show up. It happen over and over and over. Phone calls. False promises. More lies. It went on for about 4 additional months. In July 2016 they finally came and put the post up and then just the posts sat there for another month. In late August, we finally we had it and left a bad review on thumbtack.com. Apparently that didn't sit well. They called and asked us if we would remove the post if they came out the next day. We agreed. They came out and finished it. When they came out they wanted immediate payment for the rest of the work. Since they were stringing us along the whole time we refused until it was finished. Well, they didn't have the money for the materials. We had to give our credit card to Home Depot and Lowe's for them to buy supplies to finish the fence. Yep. Horrible! They put up the shoddiest fence ever. The workmanship is so poor. The caps are misaligned. The wood was warping from the beginning. It's absolutely nothing like the photos they showed us during the consultation. A year later the gate is broken, and the fence is just a wreck. Avoid this company at all costs. ** Update on 10/2017 We had to hire another company to come fix this fence. It was $1,900 in repairs. They had to add additional caps on top in an attempt to straighten the severely warping fence. ** Update 05/2018. We have to now spend and additional $500 to fix the gate again. This time instead of trying to fix Southern Fence & Irons work we are just having another gate put on. The current fencing company can't believe how bad the work is and that they put a large heavy gate on only 2 hinges. Again... Southern Iron & Fence was hands down one of the WORST companies I've ever had to deal with in my life.

After an agreed price for an eight hour we set a date for 8 AM through 4 PM. 8 AM comes and goes. 9 AM come and goes. 10 AM comes and goes and I finally text him. One half an hour later at 10:30 he text that he's sorry he forgot that he has a funeral and he is booked for the rest of the week is but he's going to TRY to schedule me for the next week. (This is already 2 weeks from our first meeting!) I understood and gave him and his family my condolences along with my thoughts and prayers. He said thank you and then the week passes by. So I send him a text the following Monday and I have yet to hear from him. Not only he was a no call no show, I cleared out the room he is to be working. For over 3 weeks I have my things stacked. A no call no show TWICE! Absolutely no professional work ethic AND you're new starting out a business on your own.
