Brandon Henderson's Construction Plus LLC was hired for two jobs. The first was for replacing a window. The second was for replacing some wood along a chimney that was wet along with the siding. We approached Brandon (the owner) about this second job and asked for a quote. He said this was something he sees all the time and it would be a total of $1000 for the repairs- this was for materials and $50/hr. We agreed upon the price and entered a verbal contract for the job to be completed at the negotiated price. During the repairs, Brandon stated that we could replace the siding ourselves which would save ~$600. We agreed, then later that day received a bill for over $1600 for the job. Obviously, we were taken back by the number given our contract was for $1000 which should have covered siding as well. Given this, we approached Brandon with our concerns. 1. Our agreement and verbal contract was for $1000 2. At no point during the job were we approached and told that the bid/quote was grossly incorrect 3. That we were now expected to pay for work we didn't consent for him to do I stated my concerns to Brandon and he stated that yes the agreed upon price was $1000. He also stated that yes, he should have approached us about the added costs. I told him my concern was that we would have never consented to giving him the job at that cost (of note, we had another contractor- my out of state father who was planning to help with he repairs. We had told Brandon this up front, but asked for a quote. After hearing the quote, we decided we would hire him as previously stated). I also stated that he should have approached us the moment he recognized his mistake and when he realized he grossly underestimated his quote/bid so we could make the decision to have him continue or do it ourselves, but he stole that decision from us and forced us to have him do the work at a much higher cost. He agreed that he stole that decision from us and that it took him longer than he estimated. After stating my concerns, I told him that I didn't think I should have to pay for his mistakes and that he wasn't able to get the job done in the number of hours he calculated. His response was, "but I did the work and therefore, I should get paid." This is like taking your car to the mechanic and them coming out and saying sorry, it took us longer and we fixed something else you didn't tell us to, but we are going to charge you for it. Needless to say, we were very displeased. He admitted he poorly communicated, but he still broke our contract and still charged us significantly more than we had agreed upon. He eventually, after 4-5 phone calls reduced the price $200, but we still paid $1450+ and the job isn't even complete. I feel like Brandon took advantage of the situation. He underbid to get the job and then charged significantly more without notifying us first, and he broke our contract. Very poor service, very poor communication. He put us in a very time consuming and uncomfortable situation...and we still have to finish the job ourselves at an additional cost. read more

The only thing that keeps this from being a 5 star rating is that I had to wait several weeks to get the work done because he had to fit my small job in amongst some of his other jobs.
