We were one of the first owners and recently moved out after 13 months. The property itself is five-star, exceptional in all regards, equal or superior to any Ritz or other luxury resort. On the downside, the overwhelming feeling we had--and the tenant feedback we received--was that it feels like staying in your in-laws' guest unit: Be happy, don't complain, don't move the furniture. Customer service is remarkably poor, almost a complete lack of communication to tenants, while rejecting most concerns or issues from tenants. Every single person we spoke with has issues with the service and attitude from the owners, but most folks have given up sharing their concerns. Most of all, many of the amenities that were advertised and promised have not been fulfilled, although the owners believe that every person was informed these services would not be provided and in return, tenants were given a rent discount. However, nobody we spoke with would agree with that statement. We have nothing in writing to that effect, only the brochure we were given. Such as:
24/7 security. --Not true. Security is poor; various doors often propped open for hours. The security company did not respond to two calls I made. Often, it went to voicemail, or they came two days later.
---Garage gate was malfunctioning 24/7 for 3-4 weeks. Staff ignored the problem; one staff member turned and walked away after I mentioned it a third time.
There is no concierge as advertised.--Packages piled up high for months until they finally agreed to open the office door for deliveries to be made after hours.
There is no "tech support" as advertised.--One staff member asked me to explain to them the difference between wifi, ethernet, internet.
There are little to no "food options" as advertised.--Basically monthly dinners for $65. The bar is open 3 nights per week, although most people go there to meet neighbors, not to drink. The bar seems to be the primary amenity that is heavily promoted.
There is no coffee shop or restaurant as promoted when we signed a lease.
There are no tours or visits arranged by staff to local events as advertised. There are monthly films, although they're all from the middle of the last century and none of the cast members living.
Washer/dryers are tiny, taking 1.5 hours for a small wash, and 1.5-2 hours to dry. (Brantwood did not connect water drains to dryers, so you have to reach up 5' and empty the condensed water). Our unit was 20' from a commercial loading dock, so we heard trucks coming and going 24/7. Every day. Further, one morning at 7am workers were drilling into the side of the building, shaking our entire unit. I asked why so early? Why were we not informed? "We're allowed to do that after 7am."
Microwave is over 5' high, inaccessible for many women and some men. TVs in the gym are non-functional. The wonderful large TV in the main lobby is not functional or available for tenants to use. We had hot water stop on a few occasions while taking showers. The response: "That's odd, I never heard of that happening." The most valuable staff person is Gus, who manages the facilities and has extensive experience in large high rises, but apparently his opinion is not welcome either. read more
