In addition to the classic supermarket, pharmacy, bottle shop and cafés, there's important services like a post office, cheapie shop, doctor's surgery and a computer repair shop. But the things I REALLY love about this place are the things you don't find at every (especially small!) shopping centre: the library, op shop and fruit shop. I would like my local to be a little bigger - one glaring omission is a shoe repair place (I would patronage the heck out of that!) but it's pretty great and never crowded!

They have recently just opened a store in Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre, and although the shirts are cheaper than the average man shop, the quality isn't too bad either. It lies somewhere between Cotton On and Just Jeans, which in my books, isn't too bad at all, seeing that men will do the same thing to a $100 shirt they do to a $15. So why break the bank right? I got Christmas presents for my brother and my husband here, when I was walking around thinking what the ... should I get them this time. So if you're doing some shirt shopping, try them out, they also have a range of formal wear, hats belts and other accessories as well. TK Maxx is exactly like the US version which I was very pleased to see. I was very excited to go here and went straight to the face products. Was in desperate need of some eye patches and serum. Scored a few good products for cheap prices. My friend loaded up on a little of everything. She found some good yoga blocks for $6, sustainable dishwashing cloths, big two-wick California candles, Pukka black currant tea, bamboo dental floss and a nice sustainable travel kit. I perused the women's clothing and although I didn't see any clothes I wanted to get, I did make note the workout clothes are mostly name brand. Adidas and Calvin Klein mostly. They had some nice bath towel sets and kitchen accessories. A little bit if everything. Very friendly lady at the checkout. I wish I lived closer because I would frequently shop here. 'Ello chaps! Queen…read moreStreet Mall is a marquee tourist and shopping area of downtown Brisbane. It extends from George Street to Edward Street with more than 700 retailers. Many of them include the kitschy tourist shops. NOTE: Don't assume all of the stores are the same. Some may have the very same products, but even at different prices. It's worth the while to browse around first and then actually make your purchases. Other stores include shoe stores, clothing, jewelry, and odds and ends. It does seem as though Queen Street Mall may have seen better days, although it is buzzing. It's better than a typical American shopping mall, although it is not a five star high end shopping plaza, making it very affordable for most shoppers. Reportedly there were 26 million visitors to Queen Street Mall last year. Overall I give Queen Street Mall four stars out of five.

It's well located and has just about everything one could want. There's food, drinks, movies, food, drinks, clothes, mobile phones, banks, etc, etc, etc. The current construction is a bit annoying, but it's hard to knock improvements being made. The result is a bit of a bottleneck with the huge crowds walking around on weekends. This is a problem when you walk faster than basically any other human in existence and are incredibly impatient. So, it's probably more of a problem just for people like me, which thankfully, I don't believe can be found in abundance. I like that there is often music and the people watching is tremendous.

My impressions after opening... meh. They got so excited when DFO Jindalee first opened they had to put No Parking signs all up the highway and around all the streets so the residents wouldn't get annoyed at the masses of people coming to get their bargains, it would be like the airport DFO... but not really. Not really was definetely the case... there isn't a Diana Ferrari shop. There isn't a Mountain Designs shop either, the foodcourt looks dismal at best and since opening just recently, about 30-40% of all the initial shops are now closed. Even my favourite Angus and Gus shop for kiddies has shut down. The foodcourt used to have 6 little eateries, now there's about 2. They are dying a slow and painful death and putting up 'new exciting shops coming soon' in place of the 'new exciting shops have just shut down because no one comes here' is not really helping. There is a Rivers here if that's any consolation... as well as a Lorna Jane. But trust me when I say, there is not much else. The council have since removed the no parking signs (that was never a problem it seems) and there are ample parks for everyone to go.

It is a charming shop to browse through before or after brunch with the ladies. And sure enough, I often find groups of women chatting and buying up in this little shop. Why wouldn't they? They have gorgeous colourful tops and dresses, perfect for the Summer season. You won't find skimpy dresses for 18 year olds here. This store sells clothing that are fashionable and conservative. They carry rare labels as well as many Australia designer labels. Boo Radley, which is a fave of mine can be found here also! In addition to their lovely clothing options, they have a unique range of accessories. Many funky and vibrant and others rare and extremely unique. This store also sells wonderful things for the home such as beautiful pillows with made of handprinted fabric.
